I live in a backwater in Sussex(google Eastbourne and imagine a place even worse than that), and get bored with chavs...Ah well, at least I can "meet" interesting people over the web....there are only about 3 of them around here
Were The Smiths influenced by Jethro Tull?
Both bands were introspective and philosophical in their output. It's an incredibly unfashionable idea, but I think there might be something to it. I await torrents of abuse due to the post punk/new wave hatred of all things prog. Do we need to be so tribal these days though?
3 AnswersBlues8 years agoWill I automatically get housing benefit if I move into a place in a different council area?
I receive Incapacity Benefit and DLA and want to move to a different area, but don't currently need to claim housing benefit and have no experience of the application process. If I were to just move into a new place and apply, would my application be fairly straightforward due to my disability? I've looked at directgov etc, but can't make any real sense of it all..
4 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoIf they can't find anything on MRI scans, what could be causing my epilepsy?
My neurologist doesn't seem to have a clue. I've suffered from it for over a year now and I'm none the wiser...
3 AnswersOther - Diseases1 decade agoWhat makes a real friend?
Just curious... feel like I've had some in the past, but not so sure now....are we all c**ts by nature or is it inherited through family/experience stuff?
12 AnswersFriends1 decade agoOk...easy one...best Joy Division song?
Has to be "Dead Souls" for me...not that I'm just a sad, drunken English idoit or anything
9 AnswersOther - Music1 decade agoHow important is the "Nuggets" series to the history of modern music?
I think of it as VERY important personally.. I don't think punk would've happened in the same way without it. Still sounds great after so many listens...
3 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoAnyone heard Beck's new album yet ("Modern Guilt")?
Sounds excellent to me although I've only heard it twice...really understated, and all the better for it
5 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoWhat's the best 13th Floor Elevators song?
Has to be "Slip Inside This House" for me, despite hearing "You're Gonna Miss Me" first on "Nuggets". Still think Roky grew as it went on....
3 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoWhat should I look for by King Crimson?
A band I haven't really explored enough..I've got "In The Court Of The Crimson King" and "Starless And Bible Black", but I don't know too much more of their stuff. Any suggestions?
6 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoAny suggestions for 60s Garage Rock songs?
Just listening to "Evil Hoodoo" by The Seeds....Great tune- only two chords, but it works brilliantly....Any others you can think of?
7 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoWhat are the worst song lyrics you can think of?
I realise this has been asked before, but I've deliberately avoided looking at previous answers(last one was a year ago from what I can tell...). My example would be Snap's "Rhythm Is A Dancer"- " I'm serious as cancer when I tell you rhythm is a dancer"...Oh dear...
22 AnswersLyrics1 decade agoWhat do you think of Radiohead?
Some friends of mine think it's whiny sh*te, but I think they're superb. You?
20 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoAnyone heard "Third" by Portishead yet????
I asked the same question 2 weeks ago, and the only 2 answers I got were from people who hadn't actually heard it yet...Someone must know what I'm talking about, surely.....
2 AnswersOther - Music1 decade agoThe best song titles you can think of?
I'm thinking along fairly abstract lines here...For example- "Neon Meate Dream Of A Octafish" by Captain Beefheart, or "You Must Fight To Live On The Planet Of The Apes" by The Mummies. Feel free to be more conservative if you want, though....
7 AnswersOther - Music1 decade agoWhat do you think of The Small Faces?
They've been a favourite of mine for a long time. "Ogden's Nut Gone Flake" is a real classic- The combination of Stevie Marriott's voice and passion with Ronnie Lane's subtle genius is hard to resist for me...I'm curious to know what Americans think of them, though, as they were very much a "British band" in terms of the humour etc
5 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoAnyone heard "Mass in F minor" by The Electric Prunes?
A really unusual album, but for me it sums up 60's Psyche Rock perfectly...The Gregorian stuff is beautifully balanced with some of the best psyche freak out jams I've ever heard....But what do you think?
6 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoWhat are your favourite Stevie Wonder albums?
I only really know "Talking Book", "Innervisions", and "Songs In The Key Of Life"...Any suggestions would be welcome
8 AnswersR&B & Soul1 decade agoDo you aspire to be a "Top Contributor"?
Seems that it's like some kind of sad, tribalistic club to me...."We know better than you" etc...is it just me that thinks it's pathetic???
25 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoAnyone heard of The Mummies?
A great band. They did (or do..not sure) superb 60's style garage punk. Their version of "Out Of Our Tree" was superb ( from the album"The Mummies Play Their Own Records). There's stuff of theirs on youtube if you wanna check it out...sorry, but I can't be bothered to sort out the links....
