how to reconfigure firewall and anti-virus to play WoW?
OK, im a warcraft player and after the last patch i cant connect. ive spent hours sifting through posts and replies and to my knowledge no one who has this problem has had it fixed yet, but i did find this reply from blizzard entertainment to another player, although my requests have been so far ignored;
"There are a few misconceptions regarding patching, what used to work and why the game doesn't work now. Yes, WoW most likely worked beautifully on your PCs as it was intended to for awhile before this patch update but what you must realize is that everytime you patch or update your game software, it changes the game data so your PC then doesn't recognize it as the new and improved version of WoW but a brand new program installed to your machine that needs to have administrator permissions and allowances made by the security suite working to protect your computers to function properly.
This is why everytime you see a patch released we, as Blizzard reps, kindly ask our players to configure their firewalls and/or security software as well as make sure our players have the proper PC permissions to run the game as a new program before delving into the issue further."
Personaly this sounds like a bunch of bull, but im willing to give it a try and see if they know what they are talking about or just shifting blame.
So my questionis how do i go about reconfiguring my firewall and anti-virus for this purpose. my firewall and anti virus is bitdefender
3 AnswersSecurity1 decade agoHow do I change my video card apature?
I read in a forum that changing my video card apature X2 could improve performance.
So my first question is how do I go about changing my video card apature?
My second question is would this be wise? My video card is a very old one "Geforce5200", I should also add that this card came stock with no heatsink or fan, didnt expect that when i opened my computer case up for the first time.
I ask because im not ready to buy a new computer yet and I play world of warcraft. Im trying to get the most out of this computer till i can afford to buy a new one.
2 AnswersDesktops1 decade agotransmission filter replacement nissan pick-up?
Im working on a friends nissan pick-up, early to mid 80's i think. trying to replace the transmission filter. the two rear corner bolts wont come all the way out because of these two tab's that the bolts are hanging up on. as far as i can tell these "tabs" are part of the transmission mounts. and the "tab's" themselves seem to serve no purpose other than making this job more difficult. can any one with nissan experience tell me if i have to take the transmission mounts off, and if so will i have to support the transmission or will it hold. the rear bolts of the tranny pan are also covered by the cross member. if i remove the cross-member is the frame going to move and maybe fall of the jack stands? first time i have seen a transmission filter bolted into the tranny.
can i cut these "tab's" off, cause im going to have to replace the fluid a few more times do to the fact my friend sumbmerged the vehicle in water and flooded the transmission with water. it works with some what clean fluid but quits when it gets hot.

2 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks1 decade agowireless network problem?
I recently bought a wireless b/g router and adapter. I tried to set up the network my self. The computer directly wired to the router connects to internet just fine. The computer that I am using the adapter on will not connect to the internet. I get a htp 400 error.
I did not connect the computer to the router using a cable first could this be the problem? Is this maybe the reason it will not connect? I once had that computer connected to the cable modem and it worked fine.
3 AnswersComputer Networking1 decade agoLaptop processor question?
Im looking to buy a laptop. I know basically what I want and I think I found a deal. My question is about the processor. This is the laptop I am leaning toward http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8... But I want to make sure that the processor is at least 800 MHz FSB. The processor in it is AMD Athlon X2 QL-62(2.0GHz). Can any one tell me if this has at least a 800 FSB? If you have a link to support that it does, that would be awesome.

1 AnswerLaptops & Notebooks1 decade agoLawn and garden question?
The east and west sides of my house have tree's so those sides do not get much light. Is there any plants that I can grow in the flower beds on those sides of the house that require very little sun. I honestly don't care if they flower or not, green foliage is fine. Just something that will grow other than weeds. Also, On those sides of the hose the lawn does not grow well and has many bare spots which I have seeded with native grasses to no avail. Is there any specific grass seed I can start in that shady area that will grow. I have tried Scott's shady grass seed but it didn't take. I have some kind of grass that has taken over the back yard, zoysa (probably didnt spell that right) or burmuda I think. I love that part of the lawn. Its really thick and does not groe fast. It is the last to green up and stays brown for a while but it is very easy to care for. I have tried to trasplant it into the front yard but I believe nieborhood dogs keep digging it up. I keep finding dog poop every where on my lawn. A lot of it. Is there any thing I can do to keep every ones dogs form digging up the plugs I tranzplantplant. And why cant people keep there dogs from roaming. There is a leash law in this town.
1 AnswerGarden & Landscape1 decade agoBuying a new computer?
I have an old agp computer and have decided to buy a new one rather than upgrade my existing system. The question is would it be more effective and cost efficient to buy a computer with a video card or to buy a basic system and install a good card myself. Im Looking for some thing I can do all my normal searching and browsing on and hold my music, but I want something that can handle World of Warcraft. I have a friend that has The geforce 7300GT and his handles warcraft very well.
2 AnswersDesktops1 decade agoHome network problem?
Trying to set up a home network. This computer is connected to internet via cable modem and and hard wired to wireless router. The computer I am trying to work into the network has an adapter that came with the router. Both computers use windows xp.
Can not get computer with adapter to connect even though it shows that it is accessing the router with good signal strength. Do the computers use the same IP address and DNS? If so, How do I check these on this computer to make sure they are the same on both?
Also, the computer with the adapter states that "Windows updates ready for download". Displayed this message after I set up wireless router, installed adapter software and connected the adapter. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is it possible to complete a non-class quest with out upgrading to guardian? Ive leveled up my armor skills and still cant complete even the simplest non-class quest.
1 AnswerVideo & Online Games1 decade agoOld schooler needs new school help?
Ok, Mother mother got a hold of me and told me her car wouldn't start. I went to check it out. No power to anything. Went to check the cables and they were putting off heat. Told her that it was an electrical problem. She said to get a new battery, which I new wasn't the problem. But I got the battery any way because she insisted. Went to install the battery and sparks started flying and smoke poured out and lots of heat off the terminals. Im am very handy with mechanical but my knowledge of the electrical components is limited with these newer vehicles. Give me a carburetted engine with a distributor any day. So, any way, it is a 94 buick skylark with a 3.0. Any one know what component may be at fault. Cause all I can come up with is the electric management control off the top of my head. This buick has been plagued with electrical problems and I have so far held my own in keeping it up and running for her, even though I am not an electrician. Any help is appreciated.
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoWireless Network Problem!?
I have two computers in the house. One has been connected to the internet for quite a few years. I just bought a wireless router and adapter combo to connect the second computer. Installed the router and the computer hardwired to it works just fine. In fact I am on it now. The second computer ,with the wireless adapter, will not connect to the internet. If I am reading every thing right, it is accessing the router though. When I turn on the computer it has no signal for about a minute. But then it shows "very good signal strength" and " good signal quality" and runs between 70%-80% signal strength at 4-5 bars.
When I try to launch the internet explorer on my Windows XP, it comes back "HTTP 400- Bad Request. This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Can not find server or DNS Error."
As I said, The computer with the adapter shows that it is accessing the router but will not connect to internet.
I am not sure if I forgot something or did something wrong as I had a little bit of trouble following the instructions. Any suggestions would be help-full, especially if you have experience with wireless networking on Windows XP.
When I look in my network connections it shows, Internet Gateway-Enabled.
LAN or High Speed Internet, Wireless network connection-Enabled.
1934 Connection-Enabled
Local Area Connection- Network Cable Unplugged.
I thank you any one with a response in advance for your help and will rate best answer and 5 stars to the person who can help me get connected. THANX TO ALL!

2 AnswersSoftware1 decade agosoftware, networking question (SP2)?
I am networking in a new computer. Buying the anti virus and wireless router and adapter. The anti virus software requires service pack 2. The computer has service pack 1. so the questions are; will the anti virus install before the computer is online, and before the service pack 2 is down loaded?
Can I download SP2 onto a thumbdrive and then installl on the PC before I network it?
how much data is SP2, will it fit on a 2G thumbdrive?
will it hurt to network the PC in via router and adapter, then auto matic update, then install anti virus?
Any suggestions?

2 AnswersSoftware1 decade agowireless G or N for old house?
I am looking to start a wireless network in my home. Problem is I live in an old house with lath and plaster walls and some of the walls are covered with trailer board. So would a wireless G router give me good signal strength all around the house or would a wireless N router be the way to go. The computer would be upstairs from the router and about 20 Ft across the house. In the line of sight is 1 sheetrock wall, 3 plaster walls and the stairs.

I am looking to upgrade my (AGP) video card while I am waiting to buy a new computer. The video card I am looking at is a Sapphire radeon x1650 pro. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...
I am just looking for a card I can run warcraft burning crusades (low-med settings) on until I get a new computer. This card I have read will run on a 250W power supply. But I am wondering if it will run with my P4 HT 2.8GHz 800 fsb. Cause I dont know if the processor and video card will pull more than my 300W PSU 12V rail 18A will supply.
Thanx in advance for any replies!
