What albums from the past few years are you just now getting into?
I completely missed it when it came out, but Maintenant by Gigi is one of my favorite recent albums.
4 AnswersRock and Pop9 years agoName an album where the band first hones in on their signature sound?
I'd say 'New Magnetic Wonder" by The Apples in Stereo and "Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?" by of Montreal
4 AnswersRock and Pop9 years agoName ten authors from literary history, then name a band/artist that is their analogue in music history?
Will anyone do this? We'll see.
You don't even need to pay attention to the history, you can just match bands and authors that go together in your head. Do whatever you want, really.

22 AnswersRock and Pop9 years agoHave y'all heard this new track by the band Air?
along with some chick from some band called Beach House:

Au Revoir Simone also appears on the album which might be exciting for some people. As far as the Beach House person collaboration goes, I hope they did more than just the one song but that's not what the article would have me believe.
BQs: Are any of your favorite albums soundtracks?
BQ2: Do you prefer the above song or 7 Stars by The Apples in Stereo (one of the best Apples songs)?
BQ3: Were you anticipating for a moment that this might be a cover of The Apples in Stereo's "7 Stars"?
BQ4: We all know that Talkie Walkie is a classic album. And Moon Safari rivals Talkie Walkie in popularity. But are there any other Air albums that match these in quality?

4 AnswersPolls & Surveys10 years agoWould you enjoy living in a world where your favorite artists were also the most popular artists?
or do you like that your taste is different from most people's?
BQ: Do you think that you would not enjoy a band as much if you found out everyone else liked them as well?
BQ2: Do you think other people tend to enjoy bands less as they become more popular (I realize that a 'yes' answer would seem illogical)?
BQ3: Do you think you're better than other people?
BQ4: Why not? I think you're better than other people.
BQ5: Is the answer to this question too obvious?
BQ6: Was that last question not specific enough? I could have been referring to BQ5, BQ6 or the original question.
BQ7: Did that bother you?
BQ8: Was BQ7 also not specific enough?
BQ9: Do you find these questions unnecessary?
BQ10: If yes, at what point did you begin finding them unnecessary?
BQ11: Do you find me unnecessary? :(
BQ12: When would be be a good time to stop asking questions? I think I should have stopped at BQ11.
8 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoWhat album(s) are you looking forward to?
You can listen to this new Olivia Tremor Control song here. IMO it sounds very promising. Also there's an interview with Will Cullen Hart.

Here's mine. I love it.
3 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoWhy didn't Radiohead include songs like Supercollider, The Butcher and Staircase on The King of Limbs?
The album seemed to be rather short and they clearly had some songs left in them.
I also think a cleaned up version of Worrywort would have fit in with the album.

6 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoCreamy, Pale Orange Vinaigrette?
I had it on a spinach wrap with goat cheese, tomato, onion, baby spinach and sunflower seeds.
It didn't taste orange, it just looked like a pale orange (I searched creamy orange vinaigrette and only got recipes for dressings that used oranges)
http://www.parkshoregrill.com/lunch.html
It is on the vegetable wrap shown on that menu, you can't see the dressing in the picture though. They just call it their house vinaigrette.
The taste was saltier than sweet. Maybe a little tomato-y(?). Any ideas on what might have gone into the dressing? Any recipes you know of?
2 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoWhy are The Smiths so conducive to being covered?
Maybe I've just seen a lot recently, I can't think of them all. We should compile a list. All of us.
Handsome Devil- Parenthetical Girls
Headmaster Ritual- Radiohead
There is a Light That Never Goes Out- Dum Dum Girls
Hated for Loving- Xiu Xiu (Morrisey)
Asleep- Xiu Xiu
How Soon is Now?- T.A.T.U.
http://www.coversproject.com/artist/smiths/
Nevermind, I found that. Though it is largely uninteresting.
Anyway, do you have a favorite or least favorite cover of a Smiths song?
BQ: Have you heard the band 7 Year Rabbit Cycle? Like or dislike? I recommend them.
BQ2: Ever been happy in the haze of a drunken hour, but heaven knows you're miserable now?
