Function of a function of a function?
I have an example of a function of a function -> (3x + 4)^2
But what would an example of a function of a function of a function be? Could I just add a number in front of the bracket?

2 AnswersChemistry9 years agoWhy do we dehydrate alcohols?
I was doing some chemistry revision, and one of the equations we need to learn is the dehydration of ethanol to produce ethene and water. But what's the point in doing this? Is ethene useful for something else?

What is the sequence of nucleotides on the complementary strands of DNA?

How would I find dy/dx for each of these?
y=1/4x + 4/x
y= x^2(x-4)
y=2sqrt x + sqrt2
I have no idea where to start...any help?

5 AnswersMathematics9 years agoHelp with rearranging an equation?
The equation I have is y-0= -1/2(x-2), its the equation for a normal.
How would I rearrange this in the form ax+by+c=0, where a, b and c are integers?
Does it even work with y-0?
Thanks
6 AnswersMathematics9 years agoAs Maths - Can someone check my working?
The question is find the set of values for x for which both 4x+8>3-x and 2x^2+5x-3<0
I have worked them out individually and for 4x+8>3-x I rearranged to get x > -1.
For 2x^2+5x -3<0, I factorised to (2x-1) (x+3) and got x < 0.5 and x<-3.
The values don't seem to work out...Can someone check my working and help me answer the question?

4 AnswersMathematics9 years agoHelp with As Maths - Cosine rule?
The diagram shows a triangle ABC in which AB=x, AC= x+3, and BC= x+2. Angle BAC = 60 degrees.
Use the cosine rule to find the value of x.
Ok, so I know the cosine rule is a^2=b^2+c^2-2bc cosA
So a =(x+2)
b= (x+3)
c=x
I have substituted in the values:
(x+2)^2 = (x+3)^2+x^2-2(x+3)(x) cos60
I have no idea what to do next to get a value for x...do I have to expand all the brackets and then rearrange? Or is there an easier method?
Thanks
2 AnswersMathematics9 years agoHelp with As Maths - graphs?
The function f is defined for all real values of x by
f(x) = (1+x) (1-2x)
Find the coordinates of the points where the graph of y=f(x) cuts the coordinate axes?
I have expanded the brackets to get:
-2x^2-x+1
But, i'm not sure what to do next...

1 AnswerMathematics9 years agoHelp with As Maths - equation of a curve?
The gradient of a curve is given by dy/dx = 6x^2 - 3x
The curve passes the point (-1,2). Find the equation of the curve.
I have substituted in -1 into the equation and got 9.
Then I put this into the equation for a curve: y-2=9(x+1)
I then rearranged the equation to get y = 9x + 11.
This question is worth 6 marks, so I don't think I've done enough...Can someone check my working?
Thanks
