  • For those with young kids, what kind of floors do you have and would you recommend them or not?

My daughter is now 2 and I have a 2 month old. We currently have carpet and it is awful looking because my daughter is constantly spilling stuff. Do you like your floors with young kids? Are they easy to clean up? If you have laminate wood do they stain, etc? I also have a dog so if you have a pet please discuss it too.

  • Did you change names after delivering or right before?

I am so torn. My husband and I had agreed on a baby name, Olivia Scarlett. That was our compromise since I picked our first daughter's name. The more I say the name Olivia the more I dislike it. It is so common and I hear it everywhere. I cringe now when I hear it. I have about a month left and I want to change names. The problem is relatives have already made items with Olivia on it and I have filled in our baby book. I just don't want to go through life knowing I hate my kid's name. I am so in love with the first name Amelia (called Mia). Would you upset relatives or go through life hating the name you went with?

  • Has anyone had their child's adenoids removed?

We went to the ENT today and he suggested we remove my daughter's adenoids. I am just wondering if anyone has had this done for their child? How was it? How long did it take to recover? Anything else you can think of. Did the problem actually get resolved?

MY daughter has chronic congestion and is always snotty. She went from sleeping every night at 3 weeks old to waking up 3-4 times per night almost every night at about 13 months old and is now 19 months old and still not sleeping well because of her snotty nose.

    Thanks.

  • For those who have at least 2 children under 2 yrs, which is better 1 diaper bag or 2?

I am about to have two children under the age of 2 both in diapers. My daughter will almost be 2 but not quite when the new baby is born. I am curious which people have found better. Is it better to have one large bag ( I saw skip hop has one for two kids) or two individual diaper bags one for each kid with their own stuff in it. Was carrying two bags a pain or was it easier? What do you suggest? I am not sure which way I should go. Sometimes I will have the baby and not my toddler and vice versa so I wasn't sure if this would make a difference of having each their own. Thanks.

  • Did anyone's child score low on communication test? If so what was the outcome?

Sorry I tried posting in another section but got no response. I am just a little freaked out. I have always felt like something wasn't quite right with my daughter. I would mention it to her doctor and get blown off every time. My fil, a former pediatrician, mentioned at our last visit that he was worried about her development and we need to see a specialist. I got her tested with a language and speech specialist and they said she tested at the level of a 7 month old for one category and 9 month old for another even though my daughter is 18.5 months old. They suggested we see a developmental pediatrician, but they have a 3.5 month waiting list. They also said to put her in a special school for kids with speech/language problems, but they are closed for spring break this week. I am just a little nervous. I have a lady from my state's Early Intervention Program coming Friday to evaluate my daughter, but I just want answers desperately.

Did anyone go through this with their child? What ended up happening? Did everything turn out fine or is your child still in a special program?

  • What are cute girls' names that go with the middle name Rose?

So my hubby and I are sure of the middle name Rose. We cannot agree on the first name though. We have tried everything and his favorite is Scarlet Rose and mine is Violet Rose. We have one daughter named Sophia Noelle so we'd like for the names to go well together.

We have eliminated Ava, Eva, Lillian, Olivia, Isabella, Gabriella and Sadie. Can you think of any names that would sound cute?

  • Is there anything you do not want your child to become interested in?

My family thinks I am horrible because I have said I do not want anyone buying my daughter a certain doll that costs $100 and is completely overpriced for accessories. Is there anything you have told your family to not buy for your child? My daughter is only 17 months and some are already saying they are going to go against my wishes and buy certain toys.

Sorry I cannot put the brand. My last question where I put a certain brand was crap got pulled because someone thought it violated the rules.

  • Does anyone know of a good video for teaching kids table manners?

My daughter isn't old enough yet but I'd like to pick up a video that goes over proper table manners so I can start my kids early.

  • Have any RH negative people bled early in their pregnancy and had to get shot earlier than 28 weeks?

I'm 14 weeks and 2 days pregnant. Had an ultrasound last week that looked great. Hubby and I had sex last night and when I woke up this morning their was blood. After a few wipes it is gone. Do I need an RH shot with any bleeding? My doctor's office is closed today due to weather so I cannot call them for advice. Not sure if I should go to the ER because I have a 16 month old and no one to watch her.

  • What would you do if your dog suddenly became aggressive to your baby and bit them?

My daughter is 13 months old and within the last month my dog, a 3 yr old border collie mix, became aggressive towards her. At first he was her protector and then he bit her and began growling at her whenever she approached him. The dog also became more aggressive towards myself, my husband and my other dog by attacking each of us. What would you have done in this situation?

  • Is there anything I can do for my aggressive dog?

I have two dogs. One is wonderful, but then I have a border collie mix that has become very aggressive. He has a bad thyroid so I assume this is why he has become so aggressive. He is on medicine for the thyroid, but his aggression has gotten worse. The reason I am concerned is he has recently bitten my husband and my 1 year old daughter. Sometimes when my daughter crawls to him he growls. I hate to return him to the shelter since he has been a family member for a couple of years, but is there anything else I can do? I am torn because he is so sweet and loving at times, but then changes. What would you do?

My brother-in-law is in a coma and brain dead. They are going to pull the plug but do not know when. What is the best way to console my niece, aged 11? Are there any books that might help her to come to terms with what is happening? Right now she keeps asking "is daddy awake can I got talk to him." What is the best way to help her realize that her dad is not coming back?

  • At what point would you give up on trying a nursery?

I have been told over and over that my daughter will adjust and accept being left in a nursery. I am going on my 5th try this weekend and she is still crying from the minute I drop her off until we pick her up 1 hour later. After how many tries would you stop trying? I keep getting told give it some more time. I am just wondering, how many more tries?? My daughter will be 1 year at the end of this month. I am wondering if I should switch churches to try a different nursery or should I just hold off on the nursery for a few months?

  • What are the best shoes for a child beginning to walk other than barefoot?

I know that barefoot is best, but I was wondering what shoes are the next best. The different brands I am looking at are Robeez, Pedipeds and preschoolians. If anyone has any advice or comments about these brands please give it. My daughter will be 12 months at the end of this month and she is starting to move along the furniture so I want a good one. I didn't mention Stride Rite because I bought her a pair from there earlier this summer and the employee said "oh get this size, it is the perfect fit" and not 2 weeks later they were way too tight. After that incident I don't think I'll go back. Your opinions are appreciated. Thanks

  • Need advice Please. How did you go about leaving your child in a daycare or nursery?

This is the 4th week I have tried leaving my daughter in our church's nursery. She screams the entire time in there and I feel so bad for the women working there and the other kids. I have been told that with time it will get better, but this doesn't seem to be working. She is starting to Mother's Day Out in 2 weeks so I don't want to put those women through the same thing. How can I get her to relax and enjoy herself instead of worrying and screaming? Any advice is appreciated. Should I try more nurseries (for instance my gym) just to get her used to me leaving and coming back???

  • Would this upset you if it were your child?

So this past weekend we went to visit my inlaws. It is my husband's stepmother and father. I have sent them several photos, some 5x7s, of my daughter over the last 10 months, some even in frames. We arrive at their house only to find none of them out anywhere. They had only 2 photos of our family, one of my daughter and one of the three of us. However, they have tons and tons of her daughter and husband. I counted the pics of her daughter and here is how many 4 photos in bedroom and 2 paintings, 3 photos in guest bed, 3 photos in den and one painting of her, and one painting of her in hall. I am a little mad like what is my kid not cute enough to make it out. They had more photos of her daughter's dogs out and visible. Would you be upset and would you comment about it on your next visit? I don't want to waste my money buying frames if they are going in a box.

  • What would you do if you had a miscarriage?

I am placing this in newborn because you know how precious life is and what you went through to get the baby. Before I had my daughter, I had a miscarriage. I brought the little body home (I could make out a little head and body even though it was only a few weeks old). I buried the little body in a wooden box in my flower bed. I cried over it and every time I am in that flower bed I still cry. We are discussing moving into a new home. I told my husband that I would like to dig up the box and take it with us and bury it in the next flower bed. He thinks we should leave it here and move on. Would you dig it up and take it or leave it? My concern is that the next owner would find it and open it.

  • How old was your child when you left them in either a church nursery or the nursery at the gym?

Both my church and gym have nurseries and I have been too scared to leave my daughter at both. My daughter is almost 10 months old and it would be for an hour. How old was your child? I am not sure if I should wait until she is walking, talking, etc.

If you did leave them how did the react? What were some of your experiences?
