  • I dawn loaded a virus/popup I took care of the virus(trojan), how do I deal with the pop-ups?

    I'm running windows xp pro,I dawnloaded a video viewer,it close the browser out when it was done downloading,I tried to uninstall the two programs"System alert popup & Video access activeX object 2.07"a window form Video accesX appeared saying:

    "u should reboot your comp. prior to uninstalling"

    I did't reboot the system for fear that the malware will imbed itself deeper in my comp.

    I run a virus scan(AVG) it found the Trojan and deleted it,it also found:

    [file: shell32.dll, Result/infection:change, path:C:\windows\system32\shell32.dll]

    On the report it said it"changed"but I’m still getting popups,should I delete this file manually?

    I went back to uninstall:

    Video Access activeX; same message "reboot” I did't

    System alert popup"error...it may have been already been uninstalled"

    I also run:

    "Highjack this" but did't recognized anything out of place,

    "AVG Anti-Spywere" found a bunch of cookies and a dialer, Deleted but still popups.Right now I’m running Trend Micro
