  • sleep issues with my 2.5 yo due to in-laws! help?

due to 2 sudden and serious illnesses in the family we have had to start relying on my in-laws to help keep our 4 kids while we work for the past month. i work nights and my hubby works days and we cant change that. (kids are 7 yo ds, 2.5 yo twin ds's, 5 month old girl.) one of the twins has started having serious sleep issues due to having to be over there a lot for naps and nighttime. my in-laws rock him to sleep and lay down with him to sleep. when he wakes up and realizes no one is there, he freaks out and goes to find them. he used to sleep fine at home, lay down and go to sleep with no problems. now the 4 days a week he's at home he screams and won't go to sleep at naptime or nighttime because he's getting used to someone coddling him. i will not and cannot rock him to sleep or lay with him. naptime and nighttime is the only time i have to get housework done and nap myself before i have to go to work. i'm afraid i'm going to have to lay down the law and tell the in-laws that they wont be able to keep the kids unless they follow our rules. problem is....we have to have them keep the kids because right now we dont have any other choice. i usually let him just cry it out and most of the time he goes to sleep after screaming for about an hour- or he ends up getting too upset and throwing up. need help! this is turning into a nightmare!

  • Need to switch diapers for baby's sensitive skin, what kind?

She is 4 weeks, very sensitive skin, and has a blistering bleeding diaper rash that won't heal. We have tried every kind of rash cream out there and nothing works! So the pedi said to stop using the wipes and try switching diaper brands (she is currently in Pampers Swaddlers) Creams we have tried- A&D ointment, Lansinoh lanolin, Lansinoh diaper cream, California Baby Diaper rash cream, California Baby Calendula Cream, Canus Goat's Milk OIntment, Boudreaux's Butt Paste, ENDIT, Calmoseptine- which is like the end of the line. He said it didn't look like it was a fungal rash. So we'll try switching diapers- what brand is good for your little one's skin?? I am not interested in cloth diapers as I have 3 kids 2 and under- no time for extra laundry!! Curious about earth's best or 7th generation. Please help quick! We are going out after 5 to find her some, and I'd rather not have to buy them all....

  • Need breastfeeding help please! Beware- possibly TMI.?

My baby was born Jan 22. She nursed exclusively until yesterday morning, when we took her to the ped. for her 2 week check and they said she had only gained 3 oz. The NP we saw said to pump milk for her for 2 days to try and give me a chance to heal. My nipples are cracked and bleeding somewhat, actually it's more like craters that just won't heal. It's been that way for over a week. I called a LC, who said to put neosporin on them instead of the lanolin. I'm just worried that when the time comes to go back to nursing, she won't latch since she has had the bottle. And I hate pumping, but I definitely don't want her to have formula. (I pumped exclusively for my twins and it just is no fun) Nursing was just so much easier, bottle and pump washing and the double time is really starting to get to me. Would like to nurse for as long as possible. I go back to work April 1, so she will eventually have to have some bottles, but I just really didn't want to start them now, since she is only 2 weeks old. Hoping someone has some good advice!

  • Stores that sell adjustable waist pants/shorts?

I would like to know what stores you have found that sell adjustable waist pants and shorts. I know Old Navy, Gap, Children's Place, Levi's have them. Would like to know if there are any less expensive brands out there. I have twins that will be in a 2t this spring and they have skinny waists. Thanks!

  • mucous plug and labor question?

I'm 39 weeks tomorrow. I've been feeling just generally icky today, kind of achy and slight tummy ache. I definitely just lost my mucous plug a few minutes ago. Had my membranes stripped yesterday- was 2 cm and 50% effaced. How long before you went into labor? I know it can be days to weeks, but I just want a general opinion. Thanks!

  • 33 weeks- burst of energy?

I'm having a sudden burst of energy out of nowhere! I'm 33 weeks 4 days so I'm thinking that this isn't the "nesting" or does it really start this early? I woke up this morning at 8:30 and won't get to go to bed until 8:30 tomorrow morning due to my 12 hour work shifts, usually by this point I'm pretty tired. Anyone else get the sudden burst from nowhere?

  • What dosages for Evening Primrose and Raspberry Leaf?

There are so many different milligrams and doses for EPO and RRL- tablets. What did you take? I'm looking at 900 for raspberry leaf tabs and 1000 for EPO. Do you take 1 RRL tab once a day starting at 32 weeks and then at 36 weeks go to 2 (since this is a high dose tab) And with EPO- start at 36 weeks 1 tab by mouth daily and 1 vaginally? What doses has your midwife recommended? Since I'e read about so many...

  • Evening Primrose Oil and Raspberry Leaf after c-section?

Inspired by another poster's question a few minutes ago...I want some info too! Can you safely take these items if you have had a prior c-section? My first baby was vaginal birth, followed by one twin vaginally, the other twin c-section. I am hoping for another vaginal birth this time. I just want to know of others' experience. I am 33 weeks tomorrow, do you start taking these at 34 weeks or wait till 36 weeks? Any advice or good websites that you have used for info would help. My Ob's wouldn't recommend this, as they don't like natural things, so I don't think they would be any help...

  • help ordering a plus size item?

Posted in another area, but no answers yet and you girls are so helpful....plus I'm pregnant!

I'm looking at these pj sets.

    http://www.onestopplus.com/clothing/Thermal-flanne...

I've never ordered plus size before- I can wear anything from a generous 14 to a 16, large to xl regularly. The size i think i would need is M which is a 14w-16w. I'm looking at these pj's as a nursing item, I'm 33 weeks pregnant and want things I can continue to wear after baby is done nursing. I can still wear most of my pre pregnancy clothes if that helps, although I'm rather busty normally and the top is my main concern. Please tell me if you think they might fit. A little roomy is ok, but I don't want them to be falling off!

  • Budget meals: under $10?

I would like some recipes that you have actually tried that are under $10 to make. I've looked some up, but none seem like something normal people would actually eat. We don't eat seafood and we live in the south, if that helps any. Casseroles are a plus and meat can be optional.

  • Wrong to wish to have a party/shower?

So....I kind of wish I could have a baby shower, or baby party, or at least some kind of get together!! This is my 4th child- (ds in 03, twin ds in 07) This one is a girl, yay! I've never really had a shower except for the small one at bible study in 07 that included 4 guests- pastor, his wife, and 2 others. My family has bought a few things here and there for the other kids after they were born, mostly I just end up buying what is needed. I have had to buy a bunch of things this time b/c the twins are still using a lot of their stuff and since all their stuff was very boy-related. I highly doubt the hospital I work at will do anything- I'm already almost 33 weeks and tend to go early and they aren't exactly good at planning showers or parties for anyone or anything. So....I feel stuck. I don't want to be a greedy person and seem like I just want gifts, I definitely wouldn't throw myself one. But I know no one else is going to and it makes me kinda sad... I really like going to showers and sending the baby gifts whether it's the person's 1st or 5th.

  • My twins are climbing out of the cribs?

Twin boys will be 2 next month, they have started climbing out of the cribs even with the mattress in the loweest spot. They are not ready for toddler beds yet, but I don't know what else to do. I'm afraid they'll get hurt by falling. One twin keeps getting stuck between the 2 cribs when he gets out. I say they're not ready for toddler beds yet because they take forever to go to sleep and will get up and roam around during naptime and in the middle of the night, not to mention climb the changing table, dresser and toybox and get hurt. I don't know what else to do though...

  • help with painting a ceiling?

we just finished a garage to bedroom redo and are now in the process of painting the drywall. the ceiling is tough! we primed it with valspar drywall primer, looked streaky when hubby was done. (keep in mind he's not a pro painter by any means but our other painting has turned out ok) we figured that the second coat would cover anything iffy. we were going to paint with valspar ceiling paint but had a hard time seeing where it was going so switched to the valspar ceiling paint that starts out purple and dries to white. this morning it still looks really streaky!! how do we get it to look uniform? it's not roller marks that we're seeing, i don't know if the paint is just not covering or what. sigh...

  • What to do with this 22 month old?

I have twin 22 month old boys. One (B) will eat most of the time, the other one (A) lives for snacks, milk, and juice. Like today, I put noodles in front of them, B ate them and A refused. So he got a few sips of milk and then got put outside the kitchen gate while B went on to eat his yogurt and finish his milk. A saw he got yogurt and screamed. Now if it had been Cheerios, Ritz Bits or something else snacky, or just yogurt, A would have eaten it. But I have to offer the main course first otherwise they both will go for the fruits first. All A wants to eat is oatmeal in the mornings and snacks, milk, and juice the rest of the day. And I'm not going to give in and just let him have those kinds of foods. Yes, he is underweight, just over 20 pounds and pretty short- he's about the size of the average 14 month old. Md's are concerned, but all I can do is put the food in front of him, I can't make him eat....how do you get this kid to eat??

  • Does your unborn baby hiccup a lot?

This is kind of a fun question- I have been noticing my baby hiccuping a lot more these days- we're at 26.5 weeks. she does it at least 4-6 times a day that I know of for about 10 minutes. Does yours hiccup a lot? How many weeks are you?

  • If you had low amniotic fluid, did you have a healthy baby?

I am 26.5 weeks, we have been told at 24 weeks that our baby girl is small (measuring 2 weeks behind and fluid is low) Went back this week and more of the same. She is still 2 weeks behind and fluid is still low. Have another appt next week. They might take me out of work completely as early as next week- not good considering I'm the one that pays 75% of the bills. Definitely worried about our health and the state of our finances!! Anyone have any experience?

  • How much should a used garage door and opening system sell for?

We are having to convert the 2 car garage to a bedroom. Trying to sell the tracks, door, ceiling mount engine (craftsman), wall opener, and 2 car openers on craigslist. All is less than 5 years old and in great condition. Door is one big door, standard 20x20 garage size. Our contractor doing the work said around $500 as the doors are over a thousand new, plus the cost of the engine. What do you think? How much should I ask? I want to be fair, but we need to offset some costs for the baby on its way in a couple months...
