  • How did my dog know to protect my 9 year old daughter?

ok so I have a 1 year old female staffy, she's adorable overly friendly with people, dog's cat's,squirrels you name it it's a friend to my girl. My staffy loves all dogs but particular loves bigger dogs such as German Shepard's,big leggy border collies and even other staffs...her best friends are a male border collie & a female staff the same age. There is one dog is particular that right from the off she hasn't liked and I could see no reason for it..he's a male 7 month old king staff (much bigger built than my girl) My staff has never been aggressive towards him but she has whimpered and ran behind my legs while he's about. He's very well brought up I know the owner well but last week whilst chatting his dog tried to bite my daughters hand and my staff flew forwards to my daughters side & started to bark furiously...how did she know to do this?

  • why are full pricked ears on a SBT seen as a serious fault?

I'm just wondering as having spoken to an old bloke yesterday he was telling me that pre 1930's Staffordshire bull terriers did have full pricked ears...but now full pricked ears are seen as being a gene deffect. If that's the case does that mean if your dog has full pricked ears that they will or already have health problems?

  • Does anyone know why when I eat fibre I get constipated?

Does anyone know why when I eat fibre I get constipated?

I thought fibre was supposed to relieve the problem? I can't eat brown bread or anything else which is high in fibre including some vegetables which are supposed to be good for you without getting a tummy ache and or constipation...example: 2 weetabix nothing else & within 20 minutes I had stomach cramps :-(

  • Controversial question...how would you know if your child was mentally ill or making it up?

Say you had a teenager 16ish....that was a very clever teenager...how would you know if they were A) manipulative and deceitful or B) actually mentally ill?

Bearing in mind there are very few physical tests to prove mental illness.

  • 16 year old female with ADHD,now displaying paranoia symptoms?

My 16 year old daughter was diagnosed 3 years ago with ADHD,present from a very, very early age.The reason for the late diagnosis is due to her having male trait symptoms such as extreme hyperactivity, violent tendencies, extreme views & is incredible intelligent hence the late diagnosis (believing that if our child was intelligent then why could she not control her behaviour?) Anyway she has recently turned 16,& she stopped taking her medication for a while thinking that when she left school she would no longer need any help! In the last couple of months she has become paranoid..it's always been there I think as a family we thought it was part of her ADHD symptoms although this is becoming less & less likely. Nothing in my daughters life has a grey area things are either black or they are white no in between. My daughter has been back to her psychiatrist & been open and honest about her beliefs which range between a complete hatred of drug takers...she is so totally anti drugs that it has caused her to lose friends...one of many reasons why she never can hold on to a friendship. She believes people are talking about her all the time, this has been present right from an early age (bus journeys used to be a nightmare, nobody could speak to anyone on a bus or laugh without her thinking she was laughing/talking about her). Sorry to ramble on but what I really want to know is where I go from here as she is starting to show signs of depression too which is worrying as she is usually a happy upbeat (hyper) kid...has anyone else experienced this? I wouldn't be asking if I wasn't worried I just really don't know what to do to help as her psychiatrist seems to think this is part of her ADHD symptoms where as I think this is something entirely different!

  • What could be causing a leaking nipple?

My youngest child is nearly 9 & I have started to notice 1 of my nipples is leaking fluid. As far as I'm aware it's a clear fluid although I can't swear to this as I tend to notice it if I'm not wearing a bra and the stain/wet patch appears on my t-shirt/top etc. I thought at first it could be down to friction but if this is the case wouldn't both nipples leak? Any advice greatly appreciated (oh no lumps that I can feel in case anyone asks)
