  • Did congress just learn that you can bet against an industry?

    They are attacking Goldman Sachs for betting against the housing industry, which ended up to be a good thing for their investors.

    People shorts stocks every day, all day and profit from crashing companies.

    If Goldman Sachs did something illegal they should be punished for it, and time will tell as this drags out. However, their whining about it being "unethical" to bet against the housing market is blatantly ignorant.

    "It's gambling, pure and simple raw gambling," Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo.

    Well Senator, have you ever heard of.... The stock market? It's always been known to be a gamble. Idiot.

    Is our congress showing how completely inept and ignorant they are?

  • How many of you fall for one of the dems favorite words, compromise?

    L-----------------N---------C----------M

    L = Less Federal Government

    N = Current Amount Of Federal Government

    M = More Federal Government

    C = Democrats Compromise

    Notice how all "compromises" are really just the democrats getting less of their agenda in place? So as long as they "compromise" on a regular basis, eventually they'll get the full policy they wanted in place. It just takes a little longer.

    I'm not buying it, but I'm pretty sure a lot of people are. Nice words like compromise make you feel good inside huh? I suggest you stop listening to the talking heads and think for yourself once in awhile.

  • Do liberals automatically assume a gathering off any race makes that group racist?

    Or is it only white people? Making them the actual racists for profiling based on the groups white majority.

  • Does my wife have any legal backing for her safety in the classroom?

    Also, what is the legal standing to the situation below? This is in Texas

    My wife was recently put into a 30 minute class in an outside portable building with 24 students. There are many problems with the situation. Including the fact that this portable is one that is split in two by a wall. So really it is half a portable with only room for 22 chairs. So some students are currently sitting on the floor.

    The biggest problem is she is in the room alone when most of these 30 minute classes in the building have two teachers. All new students are being sent to her class. She started with 1 student but after a week or two she reached 29 and they have removed 5 of them since then. These students are the worst of the worst. It is already a high risk, low economic school. Many of these students are on parole. Some came from the school students go to when they do something really bad. Two of them went there for assaulting teachers.

    Today my wife overheard a drug deal being done in her classroom. She tried to quietly call the front office. She asked them send the school police officer and a principal fast. While calling she heard a two students say "I think she's calling the office." the other said "She better keep her mouth shut or she's going to get her *** kicked." She acted like she didn't hear them. Soon two principals came. Not even the police officer.

    One of the assistance principals asked the student if he was doing a drug deal. The student of course said no. The principal asked if he was calling my wife a liar and if he needed to search him. The student of course said no he didn't need to be searched. The principal let him go without any further action.

    The assistant principal told my wife something to the effect of "I don't think they'd touch or or anything but if they try anything call us and we'll try to get down here as fast as possible.

    My wife has now e-mailed them and said unless only certain students she specifies are not removed from that class, she refuses to go back to that room.

    Is there any legal backing for my wife to protect her from being forced to teach such a bad class. Especially when this whole thing could be avoided. Like idiots they put all the bad kids in one class? In a portable that's not even in the building? With only one teacher when most others have two for this 30 minute "advisory period"?

    It's like one idiot decision after another. Also just so you know she's been warning them about this issue for a couple weeks. They have been doing a little, but really dragging their asses given the situation.

    What is our legal rights?

    Thank you!

  • Can I sue a gym that has consistently failed to cancel my membership?

    Over the last few years I have called numerous times telling them I want to cancel, and even faxed in documentation at their request proving that I had moved to a new city and thus could get out of the contract. It's been so long now that the contract period is over anyway. Still they tell me they will get it canceled, and still I get billed every month.

    Of course I can't prove in court that they said they would cancel it. But if I send in a letter and get a "Certificate of Mailing" then I could. Do I have the right to sue for all my past payments if I can prove they ignore my requests?

    I live in Texas.

  • Can my old apartments legally hand over my debt to collections after failing to send me a bill?

    We broke the lease but before hand had worked out with the management what we would have to pay. They told us that after we received the bill (yes we gave them the new address) we could come in and start making payments. They said as long as we made payments they wouldn't send it to collections. Instead we got a letter in the mail from a collections company.

  • What do supporters of Palestine suggest should happen to the Jews in Israel, who they say shouldn't be there.?

    I see Palestinian supports say that the Jews have no right to the land they live on. If you believe that, what do you think should happen to the Jews then. Do they want them all dead? Should other countries take them in? And why is it not fair to split the land between the two people? They both have been fighting each other for hundreds of years. Is it not time to stop bickering about the past and come to agreements? And how can you consider Israel the oppressing nation when Palestinians are obviously the ones who start most current conflicts. Israel just defends itself through force, until other nations complain enough then they back off. Then Palestinians use that time to bulk up so they can start attacking more. I never hear Israel calling for the complete destruction of Palestine. You can't say that for the Palestinians. Where are these hidden atrocities Palestinian supporters speak of? Attacking the Palestinians when they refuse to stop firing rockets at Israel towns is not oppression. It's defense. So please give accounts of REAL oppression and atrocities because I have yet to hear of any reported on in the media.

    Non-extremist supporters only please. Trying to get an idea of why some everyday peoples are against Israel so much. Facts are desired.
