After much research and personal reflection, I have become a strong advocate for a popular political party in the United States. I firmly believe that the next presidential election will be the most important in U.S. history ... everything is on the line for both major political parties ... for the people of this country ... and for their future. The only thing I could ask of others who regularly post in the political area is to become truly informed on the major issue of today ... and that might include looking at all sides of an issue. Then let's have a serious debate. Some powers with political self-interests would love to keep you hidden away in YA, making your political observations to a small venue. They wish to isolate and divide you. There are many other people out there just like you. You are not in isolation. Major political battles will be won with chats at the office coffee machine, in bar room discussions, and over the fence talks with your neighbor.
Anyone Know Where to Obtain a List of U.S. House Republicans Who Failed to Support Health Care for Poor Kids?
That list is going to come in very handy in '08?
You've cast your dice Republican rubber-stampers, and now you will experience the consequences.
16 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoGWB states SCHIP program = Federalization. Does his pro-corporate coddling = Federalized care of the wealthy?
... not to mention his tax cuts which heavily benefit the wealthiest Americans.
It's easy to shut out poor kids when your own little darlings are well cared for, huh cons?
Republicans: we'll concede the wealthy will vote for you in '08. You can have them. We'll remind the poor and middle classes how you really care for their kids. The right to Health care is a basic human right of every single American.

19 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoDid the Far Right come Dangerously Close to Controlling All Three Branches of Government Prior to 2006?
They had Cheney and Bush railroading the Executive Branch, plus they enjoyed a modest majority in the Legislature. They had assigned the Supreme Court to "lean right" while installing Judicial hit man Alberto Gonzalez as attorney general. They had, in effect ... nearly morphed every facet of our government into a machine that would serve the rich, and the Republican party. They came very, very close, and are still close.
If they ever do ccapture all three branches, ours will no longer be a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. Thank God for the ACLU, the independents, unfiltered media, and the Democrats.
7 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoThe Government Accountability Office concludes that Wounded Veterans are STILL being neglected. What gives?
So apparently with this administration, it's not enough to send them half way around the world .. subject them to possible death or dismemberment .. force them into tour after tour .. while denying them a equal period of time home between tours.
This wouldn't happen if even some of U.S. soldiers hailed from the rich families. The burden of this war falls squarely on the backs of the poor and middle classes. Sure, it's a volunteer army and these young men and women enlist through their local recruiters. But for many in the poor and middle classes, military service is the only way to get a decent education.
You've already been caught with the Walter Reed scandal, after which time you grandstanded and promised to fix things. Why don't we send some senators kids over there to fight .. we would see some rapid changes then.

The actual GAO Document:
13 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIs the Current Administration Advocating Democracy or Republicanism Throughout the World?
The GOP is the once proud and noble party of Lincoln. Lincoln refer to our government as ...
"of the people, by the people, and for the people" - That's Democracy.
Republicanism translates to government for betterment for the wealthy, ruling elite, and corporate contributors - That's Republicanism.
The upcoming presidential election will be the most important in U.S. history ... you will live with the consequences ... possibly for the rest of your life. If the Neocons ever capture all three branches of government (and they have come very close)... it's all over for Democracy.

9 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoRepublican Members of Congress ... Are Our Troops Not Making Enough Sacrifices to Suit You?
When they return home to visit their families between tours, why did you vote to deny them the same length of time at home as they spent on a tour of duty?
Another Republican mouthpiece on the radio was ranting how war is sacrifice, and therefore the American troops must be willing to make sacrifices in order to win this war ...
So apparently it's not enough to leave your family and travel half way across the world many months .... to a strange, inhospitable land ... and face many, many unseen dangers that could kill or dismember you .... that's NOT enough sacrifice for our dear little Republican friends in Congress .... They insist on denying these troop adequate time with their families between tours.
14 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIs the Republican strategy to leave GWB's colossal mess for the next administration to clean up?
.
The Neocon mouthpieces can laud our current glorious victories and accomplishments in Iraq and then decry the inevitable pain that would accompany a withdrawal. There is no solution for Iraq that does not involve pain and they know it.
Those who created the mess are washing their hands of it and stand poised to point fingers later. ... Standard Republican Operating Procedure.

3 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoFor new voters ... Can others join me in impressing the importance of the next presidential election?
I believe strongly that the upcoming election will be the most important in U.S. history. ... I you are a young person and a new voter, I am convinced that political things are happening now, that could have a serious negative effect on you and your generation ... possibly for the rest of your life.
The amount of political spin being generated is unprecedented. Whole media empires have been created, seemingly with the intention of fooling the people of this country to blindly follow certain political parties without question or conscience ... and amazingly these media campaigns are accomplishing their intended goal and are blinding scores of people to the real and critical issues of the day.
New voters ... I suggest you gather as much information on the candidates as you can, try to see through the spin, keep an open mind ... and then go with your best instincts.

4 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWould Gingrich's Call for Dramatic Change Within the GOP Acknowledge the Needs of the Poor & Middle Classes?
Whoops ... Wait, as we read the article, we see that it is all about winning in 2008 at all costs ... and that means catering to broad public sentiment that change is needed. Odd, considering the fact that the real change that is truly needed in this country is change from the republican party itself.
Standard Republican operating procedure ... feed them what they want ... guns, god, intolerance, protection from fear, and now the Republicans as the great movers for change.
The real change is to change their strategy to win the next election so they can get in and keep doing what they are currently doing. Attmepting to morphy every facet of government into self-serving entities that only benefit the republican party and their supporting rich elite.
