Good colleges in New York for social sciences?
I live out of state, have a 3.58 gpa as a junior and working to get my honors diploma. I'm considering going to college in New York to get a bachelors in sociology, maybe studying criminal minds or doing journalism relating to sociology.
There's a lot of colleges in New York so I could really use suggestions. I was considering Columbia, but I heard it's really hard to get in.
1 AnswerOther - Education1 decade agoWhy am I attracted to frustration?
My boyfriend intentionally tries to frustrate me because he thinks it's cute. But we're both curious as to why I find the frustration so attractive. I say it's because it makes me laugh but he thinks it's deeper rooted or something. Any ideas?
1 AnswerPsychology1 decade agoCould I get your opinion on these highlights for my hair?
Alright I'm going to get my hair cut and colored saturday. I'm getting this cut:
http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g74/sexygeorge10...
And then I want to get espresso brown underneath, with few low lights throughout. Then on top I want honey blonde and carmel highlights. Here's a picture of me. Will it look good? :/
3 AnswersHair1 decade agoI would like your opinion on whether this hair cut and my coloring idea will suit me?
So the first picture is of me, the second is the hair cut that I am considering getting.
I also want to lighten my hair by about two shades, and have the top layer high lighted so it mimics where the sun hits my hair in the summer time. (A very natural highlight though, nothing obvious) What do you think?
3 AnswersHair1 decade agoI need your opinion on this hair cut and my coloring idea?
Okay so I've included two pictures. The first is of me, the second is the haircut that I'm thinking about getting. I also want to lighten my hair one or two shades, mostly with very natural looking highlights on the top layer for the summer time look (Looks like it was naturally lightened by the sun). I'm so tired of really dark hair. Thoughts please or helpful suggestions?

3 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoIs this considered a breech of contract?
I bought a car at a car lot, and they are holding the contract but aren't really running as a business anymore. The owner wants me to make my payments to him and not to the company. Is that a breech of contract?
Is this fishy to anyone else?
1 AnswerLaw & Ethics1 decade agoI need some ideas for a story I'm doing for state testing?
I'm doing state testing for my English class and we have three days. The prompt is called "The Cradle" and I'm thinking the story will be about an old woman telling the story to her daughter about how the woman's father made her a cradle when she was expecting, there was a house fire and the cradle made it through. It's the last thing she has left of her father. Then I think I'll end the story by the old woman dying before she gets to meet the unborn child of her daughter, and the cradle gets passed on.
I want to make it really good though because I'm getting graded on this by the state. So can you think of anything to add or something you didn't like? Thanks so much!
2 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoWhat is Portia's full speech to Brutus in Julius Caesar?
I've tried to find it everywhere online but I can't seem to find it. Please! I need to memorize it for my English class.
It's her long speech to Brutus telling him he needs to communicate with her. If you can find the whole dialogue between them, that would be even better. Thank you so much!!
4 AnswersMovies1 decade agoWhat is your definition of a "good man"?
I'm not talking about what you seek in a mate. I'm looking for your deep and insightful opinion on what you would define a good man as. A perfect man? An honorable man? A good person? But what makes a good person?
Please state what you think and your reasons for thinking so, I'm very curious. (:
12 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoCan you find any logical fallacies in this short paper?
I'm writing a paper for my english class. We read a "letter to the editor" from a person in our town dissing teenagers and how they have bad manners and "tart-like clothing". We needed to write a response letter for our essay agreeing or disagreeing with her. And proving our point.
We cannot have ANY Logical Fallacies (Begging the question, red herring, faulty cause and effect, etc.) or we fail the paper.
Would you please read my paper and see if you can spot any? Any editing that needs to be done as well? Thanks SO much!!
I feel the need to point out that the amount of well-behaved young citizens in our community is growing; because there appears to be an awful lot of put downs towards teenagers written as a majority. While it seems to be true that some teenagers nowadays are acting and dressing in a less-than-favorable manner, those who were raised to have manners and respect for all people are not being recognized. Instead, they are being stereotyped as “raised by wolves”.
However, statistics show that the national graduation percentage is increasing in high schools. Families have a lot to do with this. For example, kids who enjoy family meals regularly are less likely to do drugs, smoke, or have an eating disorder. They are also more likely to have better grades and to delay sexual activity. TV Land’s “Family Table” commercials have increased the number of families who spend time doing this. “Sharing more than meals” appears to help parents raise well-mannered and healthy children. The teenagers we see running around town with little clothing on and bad table manners usually have little time spent talking with their families.
However, thanks to TV Land, a lot more families are spending time together at the dinner table. This has led to an increase in children’s grades and respect for themselves. Respect for themselves leads to better clothing choices, hygiene habits, and attitudes. Spending time at the table with their parents leads to better manners, because their parents are there to reinforce them.
If we continue to urge parents to spend time with their children, we should see even more of an increase in the appearance and attitudes of our teenagers. But let’s not forget we cannot possibly know the situation one family may be in, versus another. Maybe the family cannot afford clothes all the time. They could be hand-me-downs that don’t fit properly. A teen may also be having a bad day, and forget to use manners when passing you on a street.
I urge you all to take into consideration that not all teenagers are the same, and many are growing into be fine young adults. A group of teenagers being rowdy on a street corner does not represent the entire population. These young adults are our future; let’s guide them into being the respectful adults they will hopefully someday be.

3 AnswersHomework Help1 decade agoWhat is the name of the song Brian from Family Guy is singing in this episode?
It's the episode where brian is on the reality show and he starts singing an old song when he's talking about how he's actually falling in love with the girl. "Would you stand there with tears in your eyes?" Is the only line I can remember.
What is the name of that song and who sings it?

3 AnswersCountry1 decade agoBased on my profile, how do you perceive me? (Psychology Test)?
So I was reading an article in Psychology Magazine about being perceived in the wrong way. It said other people were usually good judges of character based on how your profile appears to them. So I'm testing this out! Please be blunt and try your best. Thank you!
