  • What are some Christian black metal bands that use opera vocals?

My local Christian book store has a very limited amount of Christian black metal...their heavy metal is mainly metalcore, which makes my ears bleed. Even if it is CBM, it's normally really brutal stuff that has no melody...ick. I want MELODY and actual MUSIC, not something that sounds like somebody threw all the instruments in a blender and is screaming because they accidentally tossed their own foot in as well.

I'm also looking for operatic vocals...why is it that only the secular bands seem to have them? They don't have to be backing vocals, there can be two lead singers...one doing growls/shrieks/screams and the other doing opera. It's actually a good combination.

The only secular example I can name is Cradle of Filth. *shudder* (I was forced to listen to them...) I liked the operatic vocals, but the main vocals were WAY too extreme for my tastes.

No, I'm not looking for a Christian alternative to CoF, so don't give me Frost Like Ashes...I just want some black metal that I'll be okay listening to (i.e. nothing evil or anti-God themed) but nothing so brutal that I feel like my eardrums are going to explode.

Here's a list of bands, along with a song so you have a general idea of what I like....

    Crimson Moonlight--Where Darkness Cannot Reach

    Dark Lay Still--War Cry

    In Grief--Deserted Soul

Please don't give me answers like "who wants that?" or list secular artists and say that these are the "real" bands I should be listening to

  • What album(s) have you never listened to all the way through?

I always listen to a CD all the way through a couple times before it goes in the official I'm-keeping-it-case. However, there have been albums where they went in the IKIC but I never played them all the way through.

What are some albums you bought but never heard the whole thing...and why do you always stop it?

    Here's my list:

Mark Masri--La Voice. I never made it past track 5, and it was a full length album. He had a great voice, but the songs just got too repetitive.

Celtic Thunder--It's Entertainment. I thought I was buying CELTIC music! This is a bunch of covers of popular songs. :(

Simon&Garfunkel--The Best of S&G. This thing is SO DANG LONG! It's 25 songs! The only albums of that length I can sit through are Saviour Machine's Legend trilogy (three cds, each at least 75 minutes) and that's because of the story it tells.

Styx--Greatest Hits. The same reason of S&G. It's too long.
