  • Types of Epithelial Tissues?

How many different basic types of epithelial tissue are there? Everywhere I look says something different, from 6 to 8.

These are the ones I have found from various sources:

    simple squamous

    simple cuboidal

    simple columnar

    stratified squamous

    stratified cuboidal

    stratified columnar

    pseudostratified ciliated columnar

    transitional

    glandular

I've also found that glandular and stratified cuboidal are both found in glands - are these the same type?

Are any of the others listed the same?

    Any help appreciated! :)

  • HP Envy m6-1310sa versus Dell Inspiron 15R Special Edition?

    HP Envy m6-1310sa

    http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/laptops-netbooks/lap...

    AMD Quad-Core A10-5750M APU (2.5 GHz, 4MB cache)

    Radeon HD 8550G Graphics

    8 GB DDR2 RAM

    Dell Inspiron 15R Special Edition

    http://www.dell.com/uk/p/inspiron-15r-se-7520/pd

    3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3632QM Processor (up to 3.20 GHz, 6M cache)

    2GB AMD Radeon HD 7730M

    8GB1 DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz

Intended use is for work and gaming on steam for games like skyrim and mass effect. I'd like it to run new games (in the near future) on at least low settings, baring in mind the price difference and weight (because it's for uni). Which one would you recommend and why?

    Thanks! :)

  • How well can this laptop handle games?

    http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/laptops-netbooks/lap...

I'm thinking of getting this laptop and wondered how well it can play games on steam. I know Battlefield 3 has high graphics requirements so what kind of settings can it run this game on (low, medium or high)? Also, do you think it will be able to run new releases in the near future?

I've posted the link to the specs but here are some of them:

    AMD Quad-Core A10-5750M APU (2.5 GHz, 4MB cache)

    Radeon HD 8550G Graphics

    8 GB DDR2 RAM

I really appreciate any help, advice or comments on this.

  • Help with choosing a laptop - comparison?

I intend to use it for uni work and casual / occasional gaming on steam. I'd like it to run games like skyrim and mass effect. I've narrowed it down to two:

    http://www.dell.com/uk/p/inspiron-15r-se-7520/pd

    http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/laptops-netbooks/lap...

Which of these two do you think would be more suitable, taking battery, weight and reviews into consideration? I welcome alternative suggestions if you have one.

    Thanks! :)

  • Starting uni this year, could someone please help me with choosing a laptop?

    http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/laptops-netbooks/lap...

    http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/laptops-netbooks/lap...

I am trying to decide between these two. I plan on using it mostly for word processor, Internet research, emails (mostly for working) but I'd also like to be able to play the odd game on steam (like skyrim).

I'm not sure which would be best. One is intel and the other amd - how much impact / difference is there in performance. The intel is dual core and the amd is quad core.

I need a laptop suitable for work and occasional gaming. My uni course doesnt require any course specific software like photoshop.

Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Is a netbook and desktop good enough for university?

I have a netbook and a desktop but I wondered if this would be ok for uni. They have a combined hard drive space of 363GB so I was thinking I need a good external hard drive. My netbook is around 5 years old running XP with 1.5GB RAM and my desktop is almost 2 years old with windows 7 and 3GB RAM. I've also been advised that I need a laptop for uni so I'm not sure what I should do. Is this good enough? It's difficult to decide without first hand experience.

    Any help appreciated

  • In photophosphorylation where do the protons come from?

In the light dependent stage of photosynthesis, an electron is boosted to a higher energy level in photosystem II and moves within the membrane and the energy from its movement is used to pump protons across the membrane. Photolysis of water produces protons in the thylakoid space which then move through atpsynthase and produce ATP. The proton is picked up by NADP to produce NADPH. The protons are removed so where do the protons that are pumped through come from? Is it just that all the protons come from photolysis and some are used to reduce NADP and some are pumped back through to maintain the electrochemical gradient needed for the synthesis of ATP?

  • Masters degree or placement year?

I want to study molecular and cellular biology at university starting next year. I'm finding it difficult to choose between a MBiolSci and a BSc with a placement year. Does anyone have any advice or experience? I'd really appreciate some tips. Both of them are four year courses and I would like to go for a PhD afterwards (not a job straight off).

    Thank you in advance! :)

  • What type of data is time?

    Ordinal, nominal or interval?

  • Question on different types of data?

I'm doing A2 psychology and I keep getting confused as to the different data types. I've only known discrete and continuous before this but now there is ordinal, nominal and interval. Can someone please explain each of these to me? How do you know what measurement is which type of data? Just to clarify, these can only be used for quantitative data, right? What would you say about types of data for a self report psychology study involving questionnaires? Also, what type of data (of these three) is time, for example in seconds? Thank you in advance! :)

  • Help with filling in UCAS application!?

I'm so confused! When you are applying through UCAS, you have to enter all the qualifications that you have but I don't know what AS and A level comes under in the massive list of qualifications to select from. They're just ordinary A levels!!! Also do you have to enter all your AS results under a separate 'AS' qualification to your overall grade when you finish your A2 even the subjects that you are already going to carry on with? All help appreciated!

  • Need help with a crush? Any advice or tips highly appreciated!!!! Please help!?

I’ve had a massive crush on this boy in sixth form (one year above me) for about 6 months now and I really want to do something about it – as in pursue it, not let it fade. Trouble is I’m a really really shy person and it seems that he is too. He’s always in the library at break times and on his own, too. I have a friend in sixth form who’s in some of his classes and she catches the same bus as him so she knows him quite well. Just last week she introduced me to him very briefly (I wish I’d said more!!!). He smiled at me and I totally melted! Lol. My friend told me he’s really shy and you have to try and lead the conversation if you wanna talk.

Before i got introduced, i kept trying (and failing) to pluck up the courage to smile at him whenever our paths crossed to show him I’m interested. We made eye contact a few times but nothing more. Every time I see him I get a really warm feeling inside and it makes me really happy that I’d seen him but also sad cos I don’t really believe I have a chance (or the luck) to get the guy I really want. I’m 16 and I’ve never had a boyfriend before. This is really something I want. I guess Katy Perry says it all for me in the song “ET” lol.

Another problem is that now I’ve completely finished school until September cos I’m in year 11 but I will be returning to the sixth form in the same school and he will be in his final year. So until then, I can’t really do anything until then and its driving me mad!

I will make it clear – I don’t actually know him! I just kept seeing him in the library and the attraction developed from there and then i was seeing him everywhere all over the school! I became really extra aware of him and whenever he passed it was like i felt electricity in the air, like a buzz or a hum!

My friend did me a favour and brought me up in one of their conversations (on the bus i guess) to see if he knew about me (I virtually live in the school library) but he said he wasn’t sure who I was.

    Any tips/advice?

    Thx
