The population, p, of a city is modelled by the equation P = 14t^2 + 820t + 42 000 where t is the time in years. When t = 0, the year is 2008. When was the population about 30 000.

Fido Communications has a data plan that costs $45 per month and includes 100 free minutes anytime. If you use more that 100 minutes, each additional minute of talk costs $0.10. Create the equation that models this scenario and use it to determine how many minutes were used if the bill for the month was $67.

5 AnswersRunning6 years agoWhy are my eyes red?
I find that recently the whites of my eyes have been extremely reddened. It is wintertime, and my eyes usually tear up due to the wind and cold weather, but they have never reacted as they do now.
I also have hard contact lenses, having gotten them in August.
My eyes do not hurt when they are red, in fact, the redness would otherwise go unnoticed by me if I didn't look in the mirror or have friends point it out throughout the day.
So...why are my eyes red and how do I prevent it?
(I put in eyes drops this morning and it did not help.)
1 AnswerOptical6 years agoWhat does the healthcare system in the U.S. entail?
Please reply with as short of an answer as possible. I would like to one day reside in the U.S., but being Canadian, I've always been weary of doing so because of the healthcare system in the U.S. that is talked about so negatively. Could I have an explanation of what it entails, health care insurance, etc.?

I am currently working on a fantasy series in which the protagonist stumbles upon a war-torn magical realm. Would it be more effective if the story was in past or present tense? An explanation for your answer would be lovely.

I start high school in a month. I was wondering how many binders I should use. I have 8 classes; four on day one and four on day two. Should I just have a big DAY 1 binder and a big DAY 2 binder? Or should I have one binder for each subject (eight in total)? Thank you!
[The classes are: Mathematics, French, English, Science, Physical Education, Visual Arts, and Geography]
2 AnswersPrimary & Secondary Education7 years agoWhat's the name of this book about witches?
When I was around seven or eight, I read a book about witches. I remember that the main character's name was Hunky Dory or something along those lines (also, one of the friends' name was some sort of illness). The different chapters in the book would be named after phases of the moon and I think the book involved some sort of well...can anyone tell me what the name of the book was?
1 AnswerBooks & Authors7 years agoWhat to do before I become an author?
I want to become an author, but I know publishing books costs money and that I won't make it big quickly. So what job could I do prior to this? Preferably something in the writing, film, arts industry? I will undergo university programs in such sectors. (I love reading, writing, drawing, acting, singing, comics, film, etc...)

I am currently writing a fantasy novel and I am curious as to what specific things people like about the fantasy genre or what they think makes a successful or good fantasy novel. In other words, what does a fantasy/magical/mythical book need in order for you to like it? Please feel free to give examples!
