My professor did two problems and i didnt really understand them. This was the problem:

(k+1)^5 - (k+1) = (k^5 - k) + 5(k^4 + 2k^3 + 2k^2 + k) how does the first part equal the second?

and

8^(k+1) - 2^(k+1) = 8(8^k - 2^k) + 8(2^k) - 2^(k+1) how does the first part equal the second?
