    Another Calc question?

    I'm confused about this question.

    The figure at right is the graph of f ′′(x), the second derivative of a function f(x). The domain of the function f(x) is all real numbers, and the graph shows

    f ′′(x) for −2.6 ≤ x ≤ 3.6.

    A. Find all values of x in the interval (−2.6, 3.6) where f ′(x) has a horizontal tangent.

    I am inclined to say all values when f=0, but I don't think that answer is appropriate. The graph makes it a bit confusing.

    This is the graph

  • Calculus Question.?

    I'm not going to ask for a whole test, I just want to know what exactly this question is asking and how I would go about doing it.

    The function f(x) has the value f(−1) = 1. The slope of the curve y = f(x) at any point is given by the expression = (2x + 1)(y + 1).

    Write an equation for the line tangent to the curve y = f(x) at x = − 1.

    I'm not sure if it wants me to write the equation of the tangent line, or find it at this point. I already know how to find the answer if it is asking me for the tangent line, but I don't know how I would go about finding it at x=-1. Would I do it normally, or would i somehow plug in negative one?

  • Calc question?

    Rabbits on a particular island increase at a rate directly proportional to 6250-R(t), where R(t) is the number of rabbits and t is years (t>0). We also know that R(0)=2000 and R(7)=5000.

    Find R(t) as a function of t only.

    I know I want to write the equation as something like Y=Ce^kt. C being the initial amount, T being time and Y being the ending amount. I don't think this i correct though, as k doesn't come into account. Need some help here.

  • Chem Question?

    I'm stuck on this particular question.

    A weak acid with an initial pH of 3.2 was titrated with a strong base. 15 mL of 0.1 M NaOH was added to the acid to reach the equivalence point at a pH of 8.6. What would you expect the approximate pH of the analyte to be after the first 5 mL of 0.1 M NaOH was added?

    3.4

    8.6

    5.1

    7.2

    I think its 5.1, but I'm not sure. Can someone explain their answer?

    Question 6 (1 point)

    Question 6 Unsaved

    In the chemical reaction where 0.1 M of N2O4(g) is converted to 2NO2(g), what are the concentration values of NO2(g) in the ICE table?

    N2O4(g) 2NO2(g)

    Question 6 options:

    Initial = 0 M, Change = x, Equilibrium = 0 - x

    Initial = 0 M, Change = 2x, Equilibrium = 0 + 2x

    --> Initial = 0 M, Change = 2x, Equilibrium = 0 + x

    Initial = 0.1 M, Change = x, Equilibrium = 0.1 M - x

    Question 7 Saved

    The reaction below has an equilibrium constant of 3.4.

    2SO2(g) + O2(g) 2SO3(g)

    At a point during the reaction, the reaction quotient is 1.6 × 10-2. In which direction will the reaction proceed to establish equilibrium?

    Question 7 options:

    -->From left to right

    The reaction is already at equilibrium

    From right to left

    In the reverse

    Question 1 (1 point)

    Question 1 Saved

    For the following reaction, the partial pressures are listed in the table. If the Kp of the reaction is 3, in which direction would the reaction need to proceed in order to establish equilibrium?

    2SO2(g) + O2(g) 2SO3(g)

    Question 1 options:

    Q = Kp, so the reaction is at equilibrium.

    -->Since Q < Kp, the reaction must proceed to the right.

    Since Q > Kp, the reaction must proceed to the left.

    Since Q > Kp, the reaction must proceed to the right.

    Riemann sum problem help?

    I have a problem here. I’ll post a picture of it. I’ll explain the process I used to get to the point I am at.

    I divided the 36 subdivisions into 3 rectangles for each whole unit. I did the right and left side of the graph between 0 and 2 (I separate them because the left side is right hand rectangles that stay under the curve and the right side is right hand rectangles that go over the curve).

    I equated the left side to 2.72028. The right side came out to 4.581. I’m confused from here though. Would I just add the to values together and multiply it over to get the total area? I want to do that, but I’m leaning heavily towards the thought that it would be wrong.

    Calculus problem help?

    I have a probelm that asks how fast the base radius is increasing after 8 minutes. I know the Volume of a cone is V = 1/3 pir^2H. D is 3/2 H. The rate is increasing at 42ft^3/min. I have a picture here. I think I'm going in the right direction by substituting values in for the volume formula. I'm unsure if I am doing it right though.

  • Just some more Calc?

    The question asks what the the values of A and B are on a given curve in the family Ay^2 - x^2 y +x^2= B. They gave me the point whcih the line is tangent to the curve wich is (6,11) and the slope wich is 4.

    I already found the tangent line wich is Y=4x-13 and the slope formula for the curve wich is (2xy+2x)/(8-x^2). I'm unsure about where to go from here.

    I think I'm supposed to set the denominator equal to zero and then solve for A and B that way, but that doesn't seem right. Could someone give me a little direction?

    I would prefer for the answer not to be given if possible. Thank you.

    Calculus question.?

    I feel ashamed to have to ask for help with a test question, but I really am confused by this. I know to start with these equations (which are typed to the best of my ability):

    3t^2-2t+1=arcos(t)+b

    and

    arcos(t)+b=4sin^2 t

    I end up with -0.57, but it doesn't seem right.
