I'm taking my girlfriend on a getaway weekend to Dallas, TX, in a few weeks. I'm planning the weekend, and one thing I want to do is take her to a bar. But i'm looking for a nice, relaxed, more on the quiet side bar. Somewhere where the two of us can sit, chat, drink, maybe smoke, and not have to yell to hear each other. We are staying at a hotel on Stemmens, so I would prefer a bar somewhat close by, as we probably will need to take a cab or something so we aren't driving back drunk.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm a nursing home administrator, and usually make descent money. However I was laid off last week. I have filed for unemployment, and have put in a few applications for jobs in the area. I'm not too worried about going very long without a job, but prepared for it to be another month or so. Anyway, my problem is, I'm seeing this woman, and we are pretty serious. My hope is to propose in Dec or January. Well she makes about $9.50 an hour, doesn't have any insurance, and most of her money goes to take care of her dying mother, paying for her medicine and doctor visits. Usually I help out with little things like, buying my girl minutes for her pre-pay cell phone, etc, sometimes helping out with her mom's medicine. But my girl is having health issues due to stress, and I told her before I lost my job that in late October, I was going to take her away for a few days so she could forget all about her problems, and relax. Well, I still really want to do this, and feel like she really needs it, as her doc has been getting on to her about stress as well. So my question is, how are some good ways about making some extra money for right now? Something that is flexable so that I can continue my regular job hunt. I'm not looking for a "get rich quick" scheme...just some way to make some extra money to take care of my girl.

I'm a 31 year old guy, independent, financially and otherwise, a professional, living an hour and a half away from my parents, and have been out of their house since I was 18. But I am also very close to my parents and rest of my family. So I tend to email my parents and keep them updated with what's going on in my life. Well, a lot of times my mother responds with what she thinks about something I tell her I'm up to. Normally it doesn't really bother me. But I've started dating a woman who is 10 years older than me, and I told them that I was seeing this woman, etc. At the time it wasn't very serious, and I told my mother that. She responded with how she didn't approve, and how she was skeptical of an older woman willing to date a younger man, etc.

My problem is, I'm not writing for her advice; i'm writing because she is my mother, my family, and I love her and just want to keep her abreast as to what is going on in my life, just like I enjoy hearing what's going on in her life.

So my question is, how should I go forward? Should I just stop informing her of what's going on? Or keep doing it and just try to not get upset by her response? Or what? Because this relationship with this woman has become more serious now, but I'm leary to inform my mother, and thought maybe I'll let her know about it when she gets the wedding invitations a year from now or whatever.

Anyway, suggestions?

Ok, I'm 31 years old, and am dating a beautiful woman of 41. We have been dating for a little over two months now, and have told each other we love each other. Her mother has a birthday coming up this Friday, and will be 65 years old. I have met her mother once, and she likes me which is always a good thing. Anyway, I want to get her something for her birthday,but I don't know what to get. I mean, what do you get a 65 year old black woman who is the mother of your girlfriend? Any suggestions?

I'm a 30 year old divorced man, and I make over $70,000 a year. I've started dating a 41 year old woman who makes around $20,000 a year. I'm crazy about this woman...and THINK she's crazy about me as well. I won't get into all the details of our relationship, but my question is this: is there some sure-fire way to find out whether or not a woman is using you for your money, or if she really just likes you for you?

My girlfriend has received a couple of pictures sent to her cell phone from her ex-boyfriend; pictures of his..um...member. She wants him to stop. Is this illegal? is this something she can take to the police? Or is it legal? Both of them are adults.

I don't want my house to stink of cigar/cigarette smoke. But I do occassionally enjoy a cigar. If I smoke a cigar in a room, just one every couple months or so, will the smell stick? Or will it be gone by the next day?

I had cable at my house, and bought a TIVO through tivo.com. I just moved, and got Directv sset up today...just the receiver, not the DVR componet. Is there someway to hook up my TIVO with my directv?

I have limewire, and soulseek on my computer, and am using WIndows Vista. I can't get either of them to work. I've undone my window's firewall, but Limewire still says it detects a firewall. The only thing I can think of is if my Linksys router has a firewall. If so, how do I configure its firewall?

Ok, I am a man, and I love liquor...like rum, vodka, and whisky. I also love the "fruity" drinks like pina coloda, daquires, and fruity wine coolers. but I've never gotten in to beer. But I'm always told that it is an aquired taste. Well, a lot of times I'm out with the guys at some place that serves beer, but not liquor...so i'm stuck drinking water, and being made fun of.
