Is it legal to exchange alcohol for alcohol? Homebrewers?
We are homebrewers in Michigan. At our local brewing store we got into a conversation with a wine maker which resulted in the exchange of homebrewed alcohol out of our trunks, just to try what the other had made.
We thought, hey, great idea! What if we could organize a beer and wine exchange locally for homebrewers so people can try a larger variety? But that begs the question, especially if we put it on the internet, is that actually legal? I think even giving away alcohol is technically illegal or is that just for businesses? Don't think it'd be that big of a deal but I really wouldn't want to get slammed for it either.
1 AnswerLaw & Ethics7 years agoWho is liable for lead poisoning?
I live in Michigan. My father in law is a painter. He had a job in which he scrapped down a previous layer or two of paint and repainted with new, latex based paint.
The couple he did the job for had a one year old infant who just tested positive for lead poisoning. They called him and are threatening to sue.
It doesn't seem that he would be liable. He was not made aware of lead paint. The cople were not aware of lead paint. But you know how our courts go. All a lawyer may need is a sick infant and a specialist saying that ideally all painters should test the paint they scrapping for lead content.
Long story short...does anyone know actual cases or sites that relate to this kind of situation? The Internet is an endless abyss...
5 AnswersLaw & Ethics7 years agoWhat to do when a marriage starts turning into a cohabitation?
My husband and I have been married for five years. He's a great guy, I love him, he loves me. He works third shift I work first. He works in EMS so he doesn't have much say in his schedule and it looks like this may go on for a while. We are like ships passing in the night. We only get to spend a few hours with each other a few times a week and here and there a whole day together on the weekend. We talk on the phone and text but more and more the conversations are becoming less intimate, even when he is home and the sex is coming less frequently. I feel like we are losing touch.
Anyone in a like situation that can offer advice on how to keep what was a great from turning blah?
10 AnswersMarriage & Divorce8 years agoWhat to pack an adult for lunch?
My husband is an EMS worker. He's trying to go on a diet and save money at the same time. There are two major catches:
1) He doesn't like sandwiches
2) He never knows when he'll have access to a microwave, if ever during his shift.
2 AnswersDiet & Fitness8 years agoHow can I help him lose the weight?
I know, he has to want to lose the weight and I'm being controlling nag that has to love him for who he is. now that that is out of the way...
We've been married for five years now and he's steadily put on weight until now he's a good 50 lbs overweight. It's starting to effect multiple things. High blood pressure, asthma, joint pain, trouble sleeping, and then there's the effects an overweight spouse has on the marriage. Don't get me wrong, I love him very much, marrying him is the best thing I've ever done, but everyone who has been married and then had a drastic change in body types knows that it effects the attraction and sex life and that sex life and attraction are, if not major factors, they are still factors in a marriage.
I've tried everything I know of from my end. Talking, not talking, motivating, complimenting, making it a competition, setting goals, talking about health. He used to be in great shape in the military, he knows he's badly overweight and he knows how to lose the weight. He isn't motivated. Waiting for him to be motivated from deep down inside to change while working on me and my happiness is the psychiatrist answer that hasn't worked in actual application.
Anyone else had success in helping a long unmotivated partner to finally lose the weight?
PS, I am not nagging or bitching about it, I haven't even brought it up in a good year or so. At the same time I'm genuinely concerned because if this continues he will die of a heart attack.
We eat well when together but he is an EMS worker and eats terrible on the job.
And no, "controlling" him with sex is out of the question. Not only is that mean but he's less interested than I am.

3 AnswersMarriage & Divorce8 years agoWhere to listen to FIFA confederation cup?
Im sitting here watching the Spain v Italy game live over the Internet on espn. For the life of me I can't find a way to stream live audio of the finals this weekend. Just seems a bit odd to me that I can watch it for free but can't listen to a broadcast on my iphone while I have my earbuds in at work. Anyone have an app, station or legite (no downloads, tracking or pirating required) website for me?
1 AnswerOther - Soccer8 years agoHow can I not obsess over my husbands weight gain?
We've been married for five years. He's gone from fairly trim and in shape to a solid 40 pounds heavier guy who gets winded playing with my nieces. His bell now hangs over his belt, he doesn't look good naked and his face is even getting thicker. His weight gain has kinda platued but I'm no longer attracted to him.
I've tried talking to him, I've tried getting others to talk to him. I've tried being nice, I've tried being blunt, I've tried making weight loss a competition, I've tried to lead by example. More and more I'm thinking of him as fat. I don't want to end end the relationship because he's over weight, he won't loss the the weight. Any advice on just getting over it or accepting it?

I know the lore of dragons is nearly as old as humanity but I'm wondering if anyone knows when speech started to be attributed to them in some stories. Is it a fairly modern development?
2 AnswersMythology & Folklore8 years agoWhat are your favorite alcohol infused fruits and veggies?
I love canning my own pickles and hot peppers, some things just can't beat homemade. This year I want to can some fruits and maybe even veggies in alcohol. Instead of scouring the abyss o the Internet for ideas I thought I'd tap the community.
Tequila watermelon, brandy peaches and bloody Mary pickles are on the docket so far...
3 AnswersCooking & Recipes8 years agoCan I sell alcohol infused canned goods?
I'm looking to can fresh fruits and veggies infused with alcohol. The canning process itself would cook the actual alcohol content out of the product. I can't find much info on reselling items which have alcohol products without the alcohol content.
My state has a cottage law which allows the selling of homemade items like this at farmers markets, etc., so that's not an issue. Just this particular question.
1 AnswerBeer, Wine & Spirits8 years agoBest site for buying long term stocks?
I got out of the stock market before the bust and am now looking to start investing again. I can do my own research, I don't want or need a website to do it for me. What I am looking for is the best site with the lowest fees to purchase a stock, repeaditively invest every month in the same stock(s), and hold that stock for at least several years.
I will do my own research on sites and fees but I am also looking for some first hand insights into whatever site you may use.
Thank you!
2 AnswersInvesting8 years agoCan you reuse canning oil?
I have heard of reusing pickling brine with the advice of mixing it half and half with new brine. What I'm more interested in is if anyone else pickles veggies (particularily hot peppers) with an oil based brine. In my experience the oil based recipe produces a much better product for hot peppers than the vinegar based recipe but, if you use a quality oil, is also much more expensive. Any advise on whether it is even worth trying?
3 AnswersCooking & Recipes8 years agoInternet explorer shut down with error message every time it's opened?
I just reinstalled windows xp on my computer. It had issues, wanted to start with a clean slate. Of course, doing this has removed drivers, so I walked over to my neighbors, downloaded the appropriate broadband driver for my dell on a USB and then to my computer. Now I have a network adapter which appears to be working fine and a perfectly good internet connection but whenever I open ie it loads the homepage then pops up an error message and says it has to close.
There is nothing else on the computer, it's clean, it's all set to defaults, nothing has been done to it besides the xp cd installation and the network driver installation. What is the problem here?
3 AnswersOther - Internet9 years agohow to replace a newer version of microsoft word with an older version?
I know, why would I want an older version? Short explanation. Bought a used computer. Microsoft Works Suite 2004 is having all sorts of errors. We don't have the original CD but we do have an older Windows XP CD. We want to uninstall the error riden newer version and start clean with the older version.
I attempted to uninstall it from the remove programs folder. It seems to have disappeared though it told me I needed the CD to uninstall it. I tried to install the older version and it told me it can't install because there is a newer version installed. I went to the program files and deleted the 2004 works suite there. Still says there is a newer version and can't install. Is there more that I need to manually uninstall? the .net frameworks? .net security updates?
I really just want a simple word document but I don't even have that right now.
1 AnswerSoftware9 years agoHow to inspect a foreclosed home with utilities shut off?
We are going to take a first look at a foreclosed home. The utilities have been shut off but the interior seems to be very clean. If we like the home we will have a professional inspector go through the home as well. For now we would like some good tips on how to determine whether the plumbing, heating, perhaps a boiler, electrical board, etc. were in good working condition before the utilities were turned off. We don't want to spend money on an inspector if some obvious flaws are apparent. Thank you.
2 AnswersOther - Home & Garden9 years agoHonda Acura RSX Type S won't turn over?
Problem started gradually, the car would have a rough time turning over but would start and run. Then we'd kill the battery trying to start it, now it will sometimes start but dies in seconds. All lights, radio, etc turn on. Starter whirs, sometimes the belt gives us one rotation but that's it. Replaced the battery, replaced the starter, replaced the positive battery cable/wiring. Timing chain looks good. Fuel injection working. No codes for crankshaft/camshaft failure.
We went through the preliminaries of checking all the fuses, spark plugs, etc.
We're at the end of repairs that make sense.

2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoWhat does red and yellow stripes on military uniform mean?
My husband and I are watching military week on "Past Time". There is a first lieutenant with a blue class a uniform. It has a gold stripe down the trousers but his cover, his hat, has a yellow-red-yellow stripe around it. I assume he's army. I think the stripes mark him as a warrant officer, my husband thinks it means he's artillery. I couldn't google it, any one have an answer?
6 AnswersMilitary9 years agoDoes an employed engineer have any rights to his ideas?
My husband is considering taking a job with an automatics aftermarket company. They are desiring his insights into aerodynamics, frame support, engine modifications, etc., all of which he has great and new ideas for.
He is worried about being employed for a year, giving all his ideas to the company and then no longer being useful. Submitting patents for all these designs is not an option. His job would be to share these designs, but he is worried that upon being written down he would no longer be necessary. Is there a way for him to protect himself or is that just how it is?
