  • i am required by law to have 2 license plates, front and rear, but i want to get a plate from different state?

    I currently have a car from Illinois (requires 2 license plates), but I brought it over to my college campus here in Rhode Island (also requires 2 license plates).

    My sister lives in Georgia (only requires 1 rear license plate), and I want to change my license plate to that from Georgia, so I can drive with only 1 license plate here in Rhode Island.

    My vehicle is registered in Illinois though.

    So, the situation isn't all too simple, but I'm wondering what steps can be taken at this point to switch my license plate to that of Georgia.
