  • Has anyone heard the new In This Moment single?

I recently dropped by In This Moment's MySpace page and was pleasantly surprised by what I heard of their first single "Forever", from their upcoming album 'The Dream' to be released in September.

I can't say that I had much time for their debut album and found the song "Beautiful Tragedy" insanely irritating.

Do you like In This Moment? Why or why not? And what do you think of what you have heard of their first single from their new album?

  • Have you heard of the band Winds Of Plague?

I found this band yesterday whilst searching the Metal Storm website. http://www.metalstorm.ee/

They are Deathcore/Metalcore but are slightly different to what you'd normally hear within these genres. They have a keyboardist, but don't sound like Still Remains, rather something with a more "epic" or "symphonic" twist. And although they fall under the Deathcore sub-genre, the vocals aren't necessarily restricted to the norm.

I usually stray from anything to do with "core", (with the exception of KSE, JFAC, BDM, AILD & ATR) but something about these guys (and girl) intruiged me.

    Let me know your thoughts.

  • Metal fans.. What time signatures do you like your metal in?

Have you noticed that you like certain songs if they aren't in the traditional 4/4? Or do you dislike them? Tell me your thoughts.

What are your favourite metal songs in a time signature other than 4/4?

I personally love metal songs in 3/4 and 5/4.

Moonspell's "Scorpion Flower" is in 3/4 as is Antonamasia's "Keeping Nothing".

There are more but I don't have access to my music collection here.

Some interesting songs and their time signatures:

The Mission Impossible Theme - 5/4

    15 Step by Radiohead - 5/4

Here Come The Bastards by Primus - 5/4

March Of The Pigs by NIN - 7/8

Them Bones by Alice In Chains - 7/8

Home by Dream Theater - 19/16 (The coda with sitar is counted in 19/16)

  • Has anyone heard the new Moonspell album?

Has anyone got it? Tell me your thoughts.

I think it beats Opeth's "Watershed" as the best metal album released this year thus far.

I was just wondering if anyone knows if there is anything else Criminal Minds related besides the season DVDs that are for sale, like clothing or hats, stickers etc?

    And where to buy them?

  • Do you like Celtic/Folk and Gothenburg metal?

If so, have you heard of the band Eluveitie?

They are a mixture of Gothenburg/Death Metal (ie: Dark Tranquillity sounding) and Celtic/Folk Metal.

  • Want to form a female-fronted death/black metal influenced band or know anyone that does?

    Hey there,

I'm 21 singer and looking for some musicians in Western Sydney who are interested in forming a female-fronted metal band that doesn't sound the same as every other Femme Metal band around. I'm looking for something heavy and death/black metal influenced with clean female vocals and male growls, not core screaming like most female-male infused bands are doing nowadays.

I'm also broadening my vocal range to be able to scream/growl (Think Randy from Lamb Of God crossed with Xenoyr from Aussie black/prog metal band Ne Obliviscaris), so the possibility of me being able to strengthen male grows is highly possible.

In addition, I'm about to start learning how to play bass.

Let me know if you're interested. Post here or email me at evican@optusnet.com.au

    Cheers,

    Rachael.
