i am looking to find the title of a 80s film i think, my sister loved it and replayed it over and over but now cant think of its title, it starred a young girl in her 20s maybe she had red hair we think she was a struggling actress and was going to auditions a lot her family didn't believe she could make it as an actress the film was not great and didn't have much story but there is one scene that could ring a bell it was her in her apartment which was scruffy, she peeled wallpaper off the wall to reveal under it was somat of interest maybe a name a place to go or something anyway she breaks into song and dances around her place she ends up singing away and getting on her ironing board and singin too.

cant give much more than that really, in our heads the girl looks like mybe cindi lauper or someone but i dont think its her.

any suggestions or ideas or thoughts on who was in it would be a great help in finding out what it was
