Please critique my poem?
Bob
More than twenty years I knew him
Model character
My grandpa was a good man
Anxious parents worry about impressionable children
And so it was with him
Dirty jokes, the nudge of an old man's elbow
Too many martinis on occasion
Stories only now coming to light
I would have liked to know that old bastard
1 AnswerPoetry1 decade ago25 year old virgin girlfriend?
My girlfriend and I are both 25 years old and attend graduate school. I lost my virginity at the age of 15 (to my one and only partner) and have no qualms about premarital sex, especially if over the age of 18. She, however, wants to wait until marriage. Her reasoning is something I don't quite understand, despite lengthy conversations on the topic. Her grounds for waiting are not religious, but are more out of a fear of becoming pregnant and/or missing out on a fairy-tale wedding night. We have talked about getting married and I'm committed to the relationship, but she is steadfast in her decision to wait. We have both agreed that the best time for a wedding would be after we complete our respective graduate studies, which is in a little over 3 years. I don't really want to wait this long since we've already been dating for 3 years. If she knows I'm committed to her, why is she so unwilling to budge on this? Aside from her relative sexual inexperience, if you have any insight into why she is so hesitant to have sex, I'd appreciate it.
