What time is the Dubai Men's Final Tomorrow?
Preferably in Dubai time and Eastern Standard Time in the United States? First with both gets best answer!
4 AnswersTennis9 years agoMY RIGHT FOOT!? MY RIGHT FOOT?
Roddick is behind but he's getting juiced after the foot fault call where the ref didn't know right from left. Can he come back?
What will be the final score of this match? Closest answer gets BA.
Go Andy ;]
4 AnswersTennis1 decade agoFederer v. Berdych, thoughts?
I think this was a pretty great match, both physically and mentally by both players.
Berdych fought back from a tough first set where Federer was in full flight. Federer fought back from his slight dip in the second set as well as Berdych raising his level. The third set was a seesaw affair where emotions ran deep by both guys. Federer fought valiantly to break back late in the final set and Berdych did the same in the tiebreak when he was down 5-2.
Thoughts on the match and what it will mean for both guys over the remainder of the US Open series and the rest of the year?
3 AnswersTennis1 decade agoTsonga quietly moving through Wimbledon?
I mean, NOBODY is talking about Tsonga, but the guy has been to a Grand Slam final. If he shows up big against Murray, he might play Nadal in the semis and he beat him in the Australian semi to get to his only Slam final. That of course all depends on how the quarters shape out. But the guy has the firepower and talent to make a run into the finals here.
How do you feel about how he's preformed and how he could finish this tournament? Murray has played great so far, so obviously he has a tough test in the Quarters. Can he get through there? Pressure will all be on Murray of course.
4 AnswersTennis1 decade agoFantastic match! Was it not?
Isner and Mahut played one of the most amazing matches in Tennis history today (as well as yesterday and the day before) with John Isner finally prevailing. It was not only one of the great matches of all time, but also a tremendous display of determination and heart from both guys.
I feel so bad for Nicholas Mahut because he showed such amazing flashes of talent and determination. All this even after he won his last qualifying match at 24-22 in the final set! In the end, Johnny played the match of his life and his serve was incredible. I'm so sad to see it end. I hope Mahut continues on and doesn't get too distressed, because I think he has a ton of talent.
So what do you think? Will this match ever be equaled, in any sport, let alone tennis? What do you think such a match does for the sport?
4 AnswersTennis1 decade agoIs this guy serious? I mean honestly...?
Mahut, are you serious? You just dove at a ball 10 feet away at 56-56 after playing for nearly 7 hours?
WHO IS THIS GUYS TRAINER? His physique and stamina are absolutely insane.
9 AnswersTennis1 decade agoBozoljac is (fill in the blank)?
So, it's the second story of the day given Isner/Mahut, but...
Bozoljac played an incredible match today to be quite honest. Roger played pretty well imo (and obviously the story will be that he just played bad, even though he didn't), and was even hitting those incredible Roger shots we expect from time to time, but this Bozo (pun intended) drove the action. His ball toss is sort of everywhere, but his serve was incredible, especially his kicker out wide that was just unreturnable a lot of the time.
So fill in the blank!
Possible Top 10 kinda talent, down the line?
Up and comer but lower tournament threat?
Lucky?
Only played well because he was playing care-free, nothing to lose tennis?
Even make up your own.
P.S., Landon Donovan is my hero.
2 AnswersTennis1 decade agoHas anyone seen the ESPN/Rolex Wimbledon TV spot?
It's set to 30 Seconds to Mars' song "Kings and Queens" and talks about the setting for Wimbledon. It has a voice-over guy talking about Federer, Roddick, Nadal, both Williams sisters and Sharapova.
I think it's fantastic but they only seem to show it once a day.
1 AnswerTennis1 decade agoBritish-English speakers using Alliteration to mean a word that rhymes with the last word said?
So I think my fake British accent and word usage could pass as being a native Brit despite being born in the US and learning Americanized-English as my first language. I know a lot of slang and differences in words usage but I noticed this one thing I think I figured out but I don't quite get.
In the movie "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" there is a scene where a character says, "You wouldn't have showed up with that 'what's going on here?' look slapped all over your Chevy Chase." It's clear he means face, so am I led to mean that it's common place in British slang to use alliteration to use two words that start with the same consonant sound and use the last word to rhyme with the word you mean to say (chase-face in this... case).
I also heard someone say Brown Bread today in a sentence when he said, "He'd of turned up brown bread, you know, dead."
So what's the deal?
2 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoIs Persian the bastardized English word for Farsi, or do Iranians call their language Persian sometimes?
I'm just confused because I have always understood the language spoke by Persian people to be called "Farsi," but do they themselves call it "Persian" ever?
Or is it like English speakers saying French, when the French call their language "Francais?"
Sufficed to say, I'm fully confused.
7 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoLol at the refs so far...?
How about some fair officiating?
I can count at least 2 AWFUL no calls against Duke - Singler got fouled blatantly on the shot that made it 26-20 before the Butler timeout - no call. Hayward slapped the **** out of his wrist.
And then before the "jump-ball" Hayward jumped and pushed Andre Dawkins out of the paint in the air and stole a rebound which was a blatant no-call. I'm suprised they called the jump ball on his put back, but they probably realized how bad of a no-call that was and were making up for it.
Trying to keep the "Hoosiers vs Goliath" dream alive for at least the first half eh NCAA?
6 AnswersBasketball1 decade agoAna faked me out, how about you?
Drop a set in what looked like an easy 2 set win, get broken, save a match point, break to get back on serve, only to get broken back instantly and lose.
I actually let "OMG she's learning to overcome adversity" into my mind. I must be retarded.
Time for her to start modeling full time and give up teh tennis?
5 AnswersTennis1 decade agoHas anyone ever noticed about the Steinbrenner's...?
When anyone ever talks about them or George they always talk about them like they're in the mob? Listening to ESPN radio this morning, I think I have heard them referred to as "the family," about 50 times.

6 AnswersBaseball1 decade agoTennis to save the worlddddddddddd, who do you choose?
Assume a highly athletic race of aliens existed and one alien was particularly good at tennis from watching it from space (or whatever dumb way you want to think about - either way, there is one super human tennis playing alien). Assume this alien made contact with Earth, and said his people would destroy the planet unless a Male tennis player could defeat him in a best of five set match.
Now to make it more interesting (since this would just become a Nadal v. Federer thread if not), it could be any player from any generation in their prime. Assume he would clone them from that particular time period, whatever.
Whoooooooooooooo would you pick?
7 AnswersTennis1 decade agoWow Roger. Just wow. Where do those shots come from?
The backhand shot that Roger just hit sprinting across the court that clipped the net was absolutely ridiculous. Why does he always hit these ridiculous shots against Nole? He hit that topspin smash lob from behind the baseline against him last year in the Semi's too.
Can be found here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ta63Bd86VyU
Which of those two shots do you think was better? The guy has hit a lot of ridiculous shots in his career of course, so do you remember a better one than either of those two?

2 AnswersTennis1 decade agoSo I was thinking, After the Monfils/Nadal match, do you people see why Federer is the greatest of all time?
Monfils was gassed after a set and a half. Imagine winning 7 straight, tough, grinding, best of 5 set matches, 15 times in just under 6 years. I mean, that is downright absurd.
That is why Pete was the best ever before him.
And Borg before him.
And Laver before him.
This is why Murray doesn't deserve to be #2. The endurance, the grind, the consistency, the shot making, the deep digging to win tight or close matches, the ability to never let yourself quit, never letting something get stuck in your mind to keep your down. You have to have all of these things, and a little bit of luck, just to win ONE slam. Now go win 15 and break the world record. Slams are the mark of your greatness because everything has to come together day in and day out to win them, not Master's Series, head to head, not any of that b.s.
That is why he is the Greatest of All Time.
That's why guys like Nadal that have 6 Slams are great.
That's why guys like Murray, Henman, Haas, Ferrer, Fernando Gonzalez, Nalbandian, Robredo, Davydenko, Verdasco, etc. are all good players, but will never be great if they don't win AT LEAST one slam.
Just process all of that stuff.
14 AnswersTennis1 decade agoCBS has got to have the WORST coverage of Tennis ever, no?
Dick Enberg and Mary Jo Fernandez CANNOT stop talking about irrelevant garbage during points. I do not care about what John Isner was doing yesterday when I'm watching Federer v. Robredo, especially when they're in the middle of a point.
They are consistently showing two matches on the screen in small boxes at once instead of just showing one. I'm watching it on my computer, I am not watching an 80 inch High Def TV. I can't even see the balls from either match when they do this, which disgusts me.
They cannot stop trying to sneak in shots of the Isner Match, or scorelines of other Americans. Here is a hint: Just because I'm an American, doesn't mean I care if Isner beats Verdasco, especially when you're showing someone else play.
They randomly show very low level camera coverage of one player on the baseline, removing the other player from the screen because they follow one player in the frame from about 10 feet away. This prevents anyone watching from analyzing the point from ONE players perspective (because you cannot see where the opponent is), let alone both players perspectives. How is this good? It would be like following a Wide Receiver in the NFL from about 10 feet behind him when the Quarterback snaps the ball, removing everyone else from the frame.
They don't even return to the match if the players start playing again if they're in commercial. I miss like 2 points every time they go to commercial because they have to sneak in one more Burger King commercial.
I just do not understand who the hell is in charge of Tennis Broadcasting at CBS. Why do they even bother?
7 AnswersTennis1 decade agoI would LOVE if Taylor Dent somehow knocked off Andy Murray?
Old school serve and volley. I love it. If the old school guy that has missed a lot of time with injury, with a lot of energy knocks off one of the new long baseliner ralliers, I would be so excited for American tennis for the first time in, well since Agassi. Especially after yesterday.
Go T!
