  • How do I combat apathy in students?

I work as a tutor in a small to medium sized college. I am charged with instituting study groups of various subjects. My attendance has been so-so so far, but my boss has challenged me to improve my numbers. How do I realistically involve students who are resigned or perfectly okay to having a bad grade in their classes? The teachers tell me that they have more than several students who are struggling and they tell those students about the extra help, but even then, they don't show up. How do I get those that don't want the help to get the help that they need?

Please...only people in the educational field and only serious answers only. Thank you.

  • For a wedding, is there anything that can be done in place of the bride-groom dance?

I have a real and serious fear of dancing. I am so worried. I don't know how I am going to get through the wedding. She wants to do a money dance as well. I am open to it, but if I can't make it through the bride-groom dance, how am I going to make it to the money dance?

For those that don't know what a money dance is, it's a relatively new thing, where guests can pay a dollar or two and get to dance with either the bride or groom for a song or two.

She is looking forward to the dancing, but I am too the point of almost tears. I guess the fear is borderline phobia. I am so worried about this upcoming wedding. The whole wedding is going to be a piece of cake, but I don't know if I can handle the dancing part.

Do you, or anyone you know, know of a way to adequately switch the bride-groom dance for something else? Something we can do in place of? We don't wish to simply take out the dancing, but do something in its place instead. Do you know of anything?

  • Any good stops to make on a trip from central California to Seattle for a honeymoon?

My fiance and I are planning a honeymoon to Mt. St. Helens and/or to Seattle, Washington. For us it will be about a 12-14 hour drive. Drive times vary upon website we try.

We don't want to drive straight through, so we want to stop and enjoy some of the sights and sounds. We thought about Mt. Shasta, or Mt. Rainer, but we also don't want to limit ourselves to just volcanoes. Any good places we just have to go see, try, or things that we just have to do while we are there? Any hotels that would be recommended would be nice too. Try to stay at around the 3 or 4 star range?

This is a serious question, so I want serious answers please. Try to be somewhat thorough with the answers. Just a one line answer doesn't help. Be as informative as you can.

BTW: our trip is hopefully this summer, maybe around June, mid to late June, I think.

    Thank you.

  • Saddest song you ever heard? Did it make you cry?

I am not talking about a song that reminded you of an event or a situation. I am not talking about a song that reminded you of your uncle-aunt-dad-mom-brother-sister-boyfriend-girlfriend-cousin-best friend-playmate-etc, or a song that reminded you when you laughed-cried-played-talked to-went to-etc and you did whatever.

I am talking a sad song that just listening to it, makes you tear up. I am a guy, who is 29 years old, and I can't listen to these songs:

    I'll Wait for You-Joe Nichols

    Alyssa Lies-Jason Michael Carroll

How Do You Get That Lonely-Blaine Larsen

    Never Too Late-Three Days Grace

    Dusty Drake-One More Time

    Not on Your Love-Jeff Carson

The video is what got me on the Joe Nichols song. I was good until I saw the video. I want to say more on my selections but that could ruin the song for you if you hadn't heard it before.

Yeah, most of the songs I picked are country, but that's not to say that other types on songs can't be sad, I am not saying that at all. These are just my picks for the saddest songs that I have heard.

I don't need to cry, but just curious what others think and what their choices are.

  • How do I create a worksheet in Microsoft Excel 2003 that only allows users to tab to specific cells?

I want to create a spreadsheet where the users can only tab to and edit only specific cells that I decide.

For example: if I create some cells with percentages or something and I color them grey and they are untouchable and the cells that can be edited are white. If you press tab, it goes to the next white cell and skips all of the grey ones.

It is for a personal hobby and is also a favor to a friend. Since they don't know a thing about Excel, I don't want them to mess up the formulas but still be able to change certain cells that I will have a different color.

Any questions, please email me or post the questions in your reply. I will try to answer them as additional details.

  • I am a pessimist. How can I stop being one?

I am sorry but I need a little more than "think happy thoughts".

Any advice from people who were pessimistic all the time? I don't have money, so I can't see doctors, nor do I have insurance, not that it would help anyway.

I am 29 years old and unemployed. Have been for the past five months. I have been pessimistic my whole life. I won't bore anyone with the details. Is it too late to change now? Thanks for the help but I doubt that I will get serious responses, or answers that can help me.

  • Why doesn't Fresno State fire coach Pat Hill?

Year in and year out, Hill fails to win the WAC championship. Hill promises a BCS busting team, and can't go undefeated in conference play. Every year the pollsters, rank Fresno State in the top-25 at some point in the year, and yet they will lose to the likes of La Tech, Nevada (like tonight), Hawaii, or Boise State. Fans of other teams, I am not downing your teams, after all they won, but Fresno State continues to surprise me by not letting Hill go.

I am sorry but Hill has peaked and has taken the team as far as he can. We need someone else to take this team higher.

  • Can I re-download something that was deleted on iTunes but I had bought already.?

On iTunes I deleted a music video on accident. Any way I can get it again, without re-buying it again. Or songs too?

  • America, the unappreciated?

Your country was recently hit with a natural disaster, Americans are there helping. Your country has been fighting with terrorists? Americans have either made the weapons in which to fight against them, the tactics to stop them, or are fighting along side to help you stop them. That freedom you're enjoying, chances are it was America helped provide that in some way. Your country was broke and in need of financial aid? Chances are America pumped money into the country to get it started again. Just ask France, Germany, Italy, a lot of Africa, and Japan. A lot of money in your stock portfolio? Chances are it is filled with stocks of American companies. Your job? Probably directly or indirectly provided to you buy an American company. Your food? Chances are it was provided by an American farmer. America has done all this and yet were hated around the world. We have liberated countries, helped build others after war, provided aid after a famine, war, natural disaster, or other crisis. We have fought for others, for their freedom, for their rights, with nothing so much as a thank you. Yet were called bulies, spoiled, arrogant. With all that we have done for nothing in return, perhaps we earned the right to be a little arrogant.

  • Getting album cover art on iTunes to appear?

I have Cd's that I am inputting into my computer. Once they are downloaded off of the CD, the album artwork usually appears right away. I am getting a message that artwork cannot be found. I have verified that the iTunes Store carries the exact album and all of the information is correct and matching. I have found that transfering the album first to Windows Media Player, then converting to iTunes sometimes helps. In this case, it still isn't working. Any tips on getting the album artwork to appear, or any tips on me manually getting the artwork from somewhere else and attaching it to the album in iTunes? I realize that the artwork feature isn't the most important, but I like it.
