I work in Economic Development. I love graphic design. I design advertisements and used to work at a sign co. designing signs and banners. I am married to a wonderful person and have a Pekingese named Nadia. I have 3 children and 5 grandbabies. I would LOVE to live in Virginia Beach and that is my most favorite travel destination in the world, since it has the Boardwalk where you can bike, roller blade, walk and jog.
No Viable Choice?
Does ANYONE out there agree with me that we have absolutely no viable choice in this presidential election. There is no one to vote for....I have always despised Hillary - and yet, she would probably be the best choice - EXCEPT she will raise taxes to a ridiculous level...OBAMA is just plain scary - and McCain is, well, McCain and I can't stand him and I've always voted republican. I have voted in every election since I was 18 - but I'm thinking about sitting this one out....
Don't get me wrong - i don't think Hllary is a good choice either - it's just that she actually comes out on top of the bad choices....I can't even believe I'm saying that.
4 AnswersElections1 decade agoAccess question?
What ActiveX Control do I use to put a filter in my form that will connect with the query, so that I can just enter my query into the form and go straight to the report without having to open and change the query. This is very similar to a date picker - except in the particular form information that I am working with, I don't enter dates, I just enter the name of the month i.e. December. I ran a filter and picked up only the December records, but I don't know how to get a report to only pick up the filtered records. I can, I know, go into the query and change the month, but I was interested in knowing how to do it from the form.
1 AnswerProgramming & Design1 decade agoHELP! My 13 lb. Pekingese is so picky about eating I am worried.?
I researched dog foods, and ended up buying her Wellness brand. But she eats very little of it, and I have to really WORK to get her to eat it at all. Other foods that we give her are boiled chicken breast, eggs, a little cheese just for flavor, and occasionally a cut up hot dog, and I know the hot dogs aren't good for her, but we are just trying to get her to eat something at all. She won't eat the eggs alone, so we will cut up a hot dog in the egg. I know that you will say that by eating the chicken, that makes her not want the dog food, but we have to jump through hoops to get her to eat at all. She won't touch canned dog foods. We even bought her some little doggie desserts - no way. She is so picky that I am worried she is getting no where near a balanced diet. That is why I tried to get her started on the Wellness dog food - but most of the time she won't eat it. People tell me, she'll eat when she gets hungry - but she will go for days if her only choice is the Wellness
6 AnswersDogs1 decade ago"Pet Friendly" Hotel?
When you stay at a Pet friendly motel, do they have kennels so that you can leave your pet if you want to go our to eat or somewhere that you can't take your Pet?
5 AnswersDogs1 decade agoHas anyone else worked so hard to make sure to do all the right things?
As an adult, I went back to school and got an Associate Degree in Computer Information Systems, and then my BS in Organizational Management. I have taken other classes too, and am a good graphic designer and can make a computer do most of my work for me; am good with database design and just generally love computers and people. I worked my butt off to get here though - and yet, it has not paid off salary wise for me. I am hardly making any more money than I did 10 years ago. The story goes - get an education, and your salary will increase. HUH, not around here it won't. I would love to have gone on to get my master's degree, but can't afford to do so. And I tried moving and as most of you out there know, it's not so much what you know as WHO you know - so that didn't work either. I am so sick of doing all the right things to make a better salary, and still not being able to. Well, I guess this was more of a b**chfest, and not a question. Sorry.
2 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment1 decade agoI have "hooded" eyelids - you can't even see them when I have my eyes open.?
I know - it's sad but true. I checked on surgery, but it's more than I can afford right now - $2300. So, does any expert out there know how I can use makeup to make my eyes look better or stand out in some way. I have nice-enough green eyes - but no visible lids. Am I a "lost cause"?
3 AnswersMakeup1 decade agoPeke Eye problems?
Our Peke, Nadia, has a very large "wrinkle" on her very short nose. The vet says that he thinks that she should be operated on to remove the wrinkle so that the hairs on it will not grow into her eyes and blind her. The couple that I got her from have 3 Pekes and they said that they think I should get another opinion, that Pekes always have the wrinkles and no one has ever told them that. Has anyone else heard of surgically removing the fold of skin - or wrinkle - in front of a Peke's eyes?
3 AnswersDogs1 decade agoMini Daschund?
My daughter has a 5 lb. black daschund - she is black, but now she is developing white splotches all over her coat. She is only 6 - so it's not like she getting old and gray. My daughter thinks it's nothing, and won't take the dog to the vet, but I am worried - does anyone know what may cause this, and am I overly protective of this little creature? I mean, she is literally turning white - not creamy, or gray - but WHITE!
2 AnswersDogs1 decade agoFat face - blonde straight hair - please help!?
Well, I'll probably catch a lot of **** for asking this, because I'm just not the young beautiful type. I have fine straight hair and I was growing it into the style that is stacked in the back and angled longer to the front> Problem #1 - all my friends say that I look terrible with the hair around my face - it makes me look fatter....and #2 - I'm tired of dealing with it day in and day out - I want a blow and go style - even if it's a bowl cut, but I don't want to look worse then I do now! Does ANYBODY out there have some constructive advice on how to have an easy cut that looks professional that won't make my face look old, fat, and tired? I like modern looks, and I am almost 53 yrs. old - Am I doomed?
10 AnswersHair1 decade agoMean answers -?
Why do some people feel the need to be so judgemental towards others on Yahoo? You know, it seems that now a requirement to be a dog owner is that you have to be rich - it's funny, but I have found that people that aren't so rich can love just as much. I agree that being responsible means having the means to take care of your pet, but for gosh sakes, give these guys a break!!! And just for the record, my little Peke had to have emergency surgery over the weekend, and in the last 4 days has cost me $1,300. I didn't have that kind of money either, and had to put it on a credit card...but I found a way to do it, and I love my baby and would go to any length to do whatever she needs....but I didn't have $1300 to shell out - in fact, I didn't even have $300 to shell out - so what kind of "mama" does that make me???
13 AnswersDogs1 decade agoDry Dog Food?
My Peke is very picky about her food, which turns out to be a good thing, because we are feeding her a lot of "home cooked" meals - but we do have a little plate of Nutro Small Bites out for her if she gets really hungry. Everything I see on recall is wet food, but what about the dry foods?
6 AnswersDogs1 decade agoIs it healthy to make "home-made" dog food?
My peke is so picky and has gotten to the point that she just turns her nose up at dog food. So we got some chicken breasts and boiled them until tender, cooked some rice and added some green peas. The combined the mixture and made little food "packets" for her meals. Is this a decent alternative to dog food?
13 AnswersDogs1 decade agoWhat foods besides chocolate are dangerous to pets?
I know that grape and apple seeds are harmful, and of course, chocolate - but are there any other foods that are absolute taboo to dogs? Before you all freak out saying that dogs should only have high quality dog food, let me say, I already know that - but I want to make sure that my "baby" never gets into anything else that may be dangerous that I don't know about. And - occasionally, I do let her have something besides dog food. For instance, last night, my husband cooked a nice beef and rice dinner for me for V-day. We let our puppy have some of the cooked beef. She loved it.
19 AnswersDogs1 decade agoPekingese owner says Thanks!?
Thanks already to the many answers I have gotten - I will be hard pressed to chose a "best" so i wanted to say a special thanks to the person that actually posted a picture and also to the special person that lost her peke after 16 years...yes mine does have the sweet face - and i hope that you will find another special pup...and also thanks to the person that said my pup was OK and not to worry about her being from a puppy mill. You are all very nice to take the time to answer my questions.
2 AnswersDogs1 decade agoPekingese with short hair...?
Oh, no...I would never purchase from a Puppy Mill or even a pet store...we just got her from a family that had a male and female and wanted to breed the female one time. The father had sort of long ears, but the mother had the short ears. So I didn't really expect our puppy to have the long hair - but I was just curious as to whether this was a "variation" or just common to the ordinary pups of the breed. And no, I don't want to show her...she's just our baby.
5 AnswersDogs1 decade agoOur Pekingese has short hair on her ears.?
When I watch a dog show, all the Pekes have extremely thick flowing hair - or fur. Our Pekingese has short hair around her ears and only moderate length fur on the rest of her body...her tail is very thick and bushy. But I was wondering because I have never heard of any breed variations. Does anyone know about this?
