2 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks6 years agoWhy are US imports still so expensive in Korea?
I thought the FTA agreement a few years back that caused so much controversy in this country was meant to abolish tariffs. But even after it went through, I see no change in prices whatsoever. I have been working in this country for a few years now and everything is still the same 200-300% of original price. I still pay 30 dollars for a jug of honey that costs like 10.99 back in the states, and this is in Costco. Could foul play be the culprit? Perhaps the private "chaebol" companies are keeping retail prices unchanged, while pocketing the extra $$ that once accounted for tariff expense or something?

2 AnswersLaw & Ethics8 years agoIs it O.K./safe to plug a 110v surge protector into a 220v-110v step-down converter in South Korea?
I'm an american currently residing in south korea. I have a 220v-to-110v step-down converter to use some american-bought electrical appliances, but it only has two power outlets. I need more 110v outlets to use my computer and peripherals and would like to know if it is safe to plug a surge protector(with 8 outlets) into that converter. In terms of wattage, the step-down converter has a 3000watt capacity, which is more than enough for my computer and peripherals.
P.S. i tried researching this in google before asking here, but got a bunch of mixed answers that confused the hell out of me
