Uhm... yeah
Soldering/electrical guitar killswitch issues?
So i'm going to try to make this as clear as possible.
Even someone who doesn't wire guitars, BUT wires different thing could understand this
I'm wiring a killswitch into my guitar, it is a lighted blue LED toggle switch from Radioshack.
It is three pronged,
Now I know some basic electrical, I understand how contacts work as well as soldering.
I just barely tried to wire it in,
I'm using the input jack method of adding an extra lead rather, doing it from the volume pot.
Don't judge, I just don't want to ruing my volume pot when if I have problems with my input jack I can just re-do it.
what I did is, wired the firs two prongs on the toggle together, meaning they are both making contact with the hot wire.
And I kept the ground separate.
So I did that, and then I moved onto soldering it to the input jack.
I soldered the two ground wires together.
Here's the tricky part, the hot wire on the guitar which is connected to the pickups has a forked wire (Which has a wire inside a wire) These are the ones connected to the pick ups, one of them is the for tone and another is for just the pickups, I'm assuming they are kept separate because more electricity means a thicker tone. But that's not what i'm here for.
I soldered the hot wire from the toggle switch to the hot for the pick ups.
NOW here's the problem, when I don't have the guitar connected, the toggle switch glows blue and runs on the battery power. I can switch it on and off.
When I plug in the guitar, I get sound out of it, but I cannot switch off the power using the switch, and the led doesn't work. I sort of need the killswitch to kill the power for an effect..
If you are even more confused, I can draw out a picture using MS paint.
Thanks.
3 AnswersEngineering1 decade agoWhat The name of a hip-hop / Rap song?
that stands out very much.
One of the main verses/chorus sports a raspy type voiced rapper with a hint of a wetish vocal that you can tell is a big guy or something.
Not sure how to explain it other than that.
I was listening to it and all I got was
"We ain't never say, we ain't never say...."
then
"People here getting...." something something "out of controooooooooool"
And he holds out the "O" in "control" for a lengthy amount of time.
It also features somewhat of a swingish beat sort of.
The guy is loud it seems and it was a pretty gnarly song.
If any of that rings a bell, please say so. It's been killing me.
There also other rappers in there, if I could have heard what they were saying I would have quickly googled it.
I've been searching for hours and no luck.
Thanks
