Help with W4 Form?
I recently graduated from college and have started my first full time job working as a consultant in a temporary position for a major bank. I am being asked to fill a Federal W-4 employees withholding allowance certificate and I just want to know what to fill out in line :
(Line 7) I claim exemption from withholding for 2015, and I certify that I meet both of the following conditions for exemption:
· Last year I had a right to a refund of all federal income tax withheld
because I had no tax liability and
· This year I expect a refund of all federal income tax withheld
because I expect to have no tax liability.
I am able to chose either box or not chose either one and I am not sure which one to pick. This is my first job ever. Thank you
5 AnswersUnited States6 years agoHelp with Delta Hedging problem?
Hi, I have to create an excel worksheet working out a scenario based on the following and I don't even know where to start.
On 11/19/14, you observed the following IV for SPY options that expire on 01/17/2015 at various strike prices:
Strike 195 200 205 210 215
IV 16.6 14.8 13.3 12.8 14.8
Q8. You decide to trade the implied vol against the realized vol using an ATM straddle, ie if IV of ATM option is lower than HV, you long straddle; if IV > HV, you short the ATM.
Q8a. Graph the payoff and NET PnL of your straddle position at expiration. X-axis: SPY price at expiration b/w 190 and 200 with $1 interval. Y-axis: straddle payoff.
Q8b. Dynamically hedge the net delta in the straddle position with the underlying stocks. Assume a riskfree rate of 25 bps. What are your total hedged PnLs in the following two paths of SPY price realizations (see 2nd EXCEL file)?
Note: i. use your estimated "actual" volatility to calculate delta to determine the hedging position. ii. total PnL on the last day is the sum of premium of option at t=0, cumulative PnL from hedging with underlying, and the final payoff from the option positions.
Attached is data to use
Thank You
1 AnswerOther - Business & Finance6 years agoHelp with Real Estate Homework?
Note: The information presented here applies to questions 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. Two different families, the Smith family and the Jones family, have taken out identical mortgages. Each has borrowed $320,000 using a 5/1 ARM with an initial fully-indexed rate of 4.25% and neither family paid any points at origination. The fully-indexed rate is determined by the yield on the LIBOR index plus a margin of 250 basis points.
5)What was the yield on the LIBOR index at the time when each family purchased their house?
6)If the rate determining payments for the first five years of the loan equals the fully-indexed rate, what is the balance remaining at the first reset date?
7)If, at the first reset date, the yield on the LIBOR index is 2.25%, what is the scheduled monthly payment for the sixth year of the loan?
8)The Smith family plans on selling their house at the end of four years. What is their effective cost of borrowing?
9)The Jones family plans on staying in their house for at least the next thirty years. If the yield on the LIBOR index is 2.25% at the first reset date and does not change for the remaining life of the loan, what is their effective cost of borrowing?
Need some urgent help wit these homework problems. Thank you
1 AnswerRenting & Real Estate7 years agoTexas Drug Laws Question?
Someone very close to me got arrested while she was in school due to drug sniffing dogs finding un undisclosed amount of weed in her car. She said it wasnt hers and had no idea it was in her car and more than likely one of her friends dropped in. This is her first criminal offense aside from a warrant for her arrest for unpaid parking tickets which she already paid the tickets and warrant was removed. I just am wondering what will happen. What are Texas laws in regards to this. I am feeling really down and would like some insight into this.
2 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police7 years agoQuestion about regression model relating X and Y.?
1) Construct a scatter-plot of average annual growth (Growth) on the average trade share (Trade-share).
My question here is does that mean that Growth is the X value and Y is the trade share? Or is it the other way around.
2)Run a regression of Growth on Trade-share.
Again my question being is Growth the X value and thus Y being the Trade share values.
Thanks
1 AnswerMathematics8 years agoHelp with Econometrics HW question (Image link)?
I need some help with a few parts of an econometrics HW question. I got about half done but I am a bit confused on the rest of the questions. All the ones shaded in gray are correct and I just need help with parts E and F. I know the standard deviations for D so ignore that i just rounded wrong.
I need help with Parts E and F; deal with Expected Value, Variance, and standard deviation.
Here is a link to the question to make it readable and clear.
1 AnswerMathematics8 years agoStatistics help with Lab assignment?
My hypothesis for my science lab assignment was that higher levels of a contaminant would stunt/lower the growth of the seed growing as the contamination levels went higher. (control, 1%, 3%, 5%, and 7%)
Based on our p values they were all higher than alpha of 0.05. Every P value was higher meaning that the contaminant didn't affect the growth but I am confused with our Ho(null hypothesis) saying that we expected higher doses to impact growth and that h1(alternative hypothesis), the contaminant would not make any noticeable impact which is what happened. If I recall correctly doesn't a higher P> alpha mean you don't reject the null hypothesis but thus it doesn't make sense saying that the contaminant had an impact when our results shown it didn't. Question being should the null hypothesis and alternative be switched? Im confused and id appreciate the help.
3 AnswersMathematics8 years agoHelp with Kantian Philosophy Questions?
For an upcoming exam in the study it talks about knowing "Morally required vs morally permissible vs morally forbidden" in regards to Emmanuel Kant's view and his philosophical ideas.
Also it mentions to know " Moral vs Legal- and when it might the law be cited as morally relevant".
I'd appreciate any help defining these two points.

Find the Linearization of f(x)=square root(x+10) near x(zero)=-1 and use this to approximate f(-0.4)
I got the derivative of f(x)= 1/(2*sqrtx+10) the point (-1,3)
set derivative equal to zero and get x=-10 meaning slope is -10.
Equation I get is then y=-10x-7 which then I find f(-0.4)= -10(-0.4)-7= 3
so f(-0.4)= 3
Is my work and answer correct?

h(x)=square root(−10−4x^2+16x). Th critical points are _
Derivative I got (-4x+8)/(square root(-10-4x^2+16x))
Giving me critical numbers x=2 for top.
Bottom part I got 2(x-4)(x+5)=0 as derivative factor and got x=4, x=-5 as critical numbers.
Now when i plug back in x=2 i get the point (2,2.449489) then when i try plugin in x=4 or x=-5 i get non real solutions and I am stuck here. What are the critical points.?

Use the first derivative to determine where the function
f(x)=108x^3−2106x^2+7128x+16
is increasing and decreasing.
Use interval notion. Use U for a union (more than one interval) and leave it blank if the interval is the empty set.
1. Increasing (if there isn't any interval, enter none .)
2. Decreasing (if there isn't any interval, enter none .)
I got derivative in a factor form 324(x-11)(x-2)=0
X=11, X=2, now what comes next. Im i doing something wrong?

f(x)=12x^4+6000x
Use first derivative to find out where the function is increasing and decreasing.
I got the derivative 48(x+5)(x^2-5x+25). From that point I set each factor equal to zero getting getting one x=-5 but im not sure what comes next. Any help?

5 AnswersSoftware10 years agoAm I wrong? (GF related problems)?
So just getting to the point, yesterday me and my gf had an argument because on her Tumblr page I sent her an anonymous message pretending to be someone one random, asking racy questions in which she responded as if she was really interested.( questions like if she wanted to have sex ;), wanted to be my girl..etc) I just did it to see if she would turn down the questions and say no because she has a bf already. After she responded and I stopped asking questions anonymously and I confronted her saying why would she do that. She gave me the excuse that it was someone anonymous and she didn't know who it is. I told her to tell me the questions "the anonymous person" asked and she lied about that too saying that he asked for her number, if she had a bf etc...I just laughed because I know exactly what I asked her yet she is making up other questions. I told her why is she lying about the questions and she said she was not and she is reading it right off the screen...again I laugh because I well know wtf I asked her anonymously. She then deleted her Tumblr saying its causing drama between us even though I pleaded with her to not do it. I did this because before yesterday she made a post about her "Tumblr Crush" with a heart next to some guy and saying "see.. :)". That hurt me so much and we made up after we talked and fixed that problem. Then I just did this to truly see and feel better if she would turn the flirting down, but went on right ahead for me to see. Was I wrong to do this? Why would she do it and then tell me she loves me so much etcc... I feel hurt.
