  • Does where you go to college matter?

I am transferring from a community college into a four year University. I have been accepted my top choice (Concordia University Chicago) and a lesser known public university ( Northeastern Illinois University). The issue that I am facing is that I simply can't afford my first choice. I thought my grants, loans, scholarships, and family contributions would be enough but it's not. I even cut out the idea of living in a dorm and I still can not afford it. The other school (Northeastern) doesn't have the best reputation overall. I am a marketing major and I am in the process of learning a second language and I plan on joining the Chicago American Marketing Association . I already have a bit of experience working part time as a marketing assistant . I've looked into other schools (UIC, DePaul, Loyola etc....)...all too expensive! So my question is does where you go to college really matter once you look at all the other things a person has done ( organizations they are apart of, experience, skills etc...) ?

  • Is it stupid for me to stay on campus?

In august I will be transferring into a University from a junior college. I live about 10-12 minutes away from the University I will be attending. The tuition is $28,000 a year (two semesters) and if I stay on campus it will be an additional $9000 a year. My question is with me already living so close by (with my family) is it finically worth it to stay on campus? It’s a small school and about 70% of students are from the area with the remaining 30% being from farther out in the state or boarding states. I want the experience of living on my own but I also don’t want the debt that comes with it. I will only be taking classes twice a week (twice a week but basically the whole day since I will be working the other days) and I work down the street from the university. What should I do? I need to make a decision and get my paper work, loans, finances etc… in order.

  • nightlife in Chicago for 18+ (details inside )?

I am having a hard time figuring out what to do for my 22nd birthday that is coming up in a month. I want to go some place that offers food, drinks, and lots of dancing. The problem is out of the 12 people I want to join me 3 of them are under 21 (one is 19 and the other two are 20). Is there any place in Chicago (or surrounding suburbs) that can accommodate my guest ages 18+ and 21+?

  • Am I Crazy? Trust issues!!!?

I’ve been seeing this really nice guy (we met in a college writing class last semester) we have gone on several dates and they were all very nice. He is very polite and just an all around nice guy. We are friends on facebook and since we have been talking and he has been hinting around about me meeting his family and maybe becoming a couple I decided to do some snooping (bad right?) anyway on his facebook page I noticed that he is still friends with his ex and I saw some mushy posts on there between them from last summer (when they were still together), he also has a female best friend who he is really close to and I don’t feel comfortable with that. Should I express to him how I feel? Should I just stop talking to him? I tend to over react and blow things out of proportion, I’m afraid I’ll be single forever doing things like this. I really like him but I’m afraid my trust issues are going to ruin things before they even get started. What should I do?

  • Resturants in the west burbs?

Tomorrow night is date night and it is my turn to pick the restaurant. What are some good, not too expensive restaurants in the western suburbs? I'm looking for a place that has good drinks, but equally good food, but not a seafood restaurant though… I’m allergic, thanks.

  • found my old crushes number?

I was doing some cleaning and I came across an old crushes phone number, we lost contact about a year ago, not really sure why. Anyway, I found his number and I called it and the phone just rang, I got a default voicemail which basically says “leave a message for (phone number)”. I didn’t leave a voicemail but an hour after I called I got a call from a private number, I picked up and the person didn’t say anything. I called again a week or so later and the same thing happened, didn’t leave a voicemail and a private umber called me right after. Do you think it’s him or maybe that’s not his number but if it’s a new person’s number why didn’t they just say something? I will try again in a week or so and leave a voicemail next time. what do you think is going on?

  • should I take the job?

    Should i take the job?

I was offered a job at this office I’ve wanted to work here forever however I wanted a part-time position but they offered me a fulltime one. The problem is I am in college and while I can work around my class schedule for now I’m transferring to a different school in the fall and their class times are not flexible. I could really use this job because my current part time job cut my hours and I need the money. What should I do? I’m really conflicted.

  • What should I do, my dog fell and is limping and all the vets are closed?

My dogs were playing and my shih tzu fell down a flight of stairs while playing around with my bigger dog and she is now limping (back hind leg). She let me touch it and doesn’t seem to be in pain at all but the way she limps is worrying me. The area that I live in doesn’t have an emergency vet, and her primary vet is closed until the morning. So what should I do until I can take her in tomorrow? She’s not in pain she is just walking funny. Right now I have her lying in her bed.

  • How Can I Bond More With My Sister?

My sister (23) and I (21) did not grow up together; we have the same father (who we both are estranged from) and different mothers. We only started hanging out together about 4 or 5 years ago when she moved back into the area. We go out for drinks and to dinner about once every month and we chat over the phone maybe twice a week but I’ve noticed that it’s difficult to hold a conversation because we have nothing in common! The only thing that we seem to agree on is that we would both like to travel to Vegas this summer, the problem with that is her idea of fun is just walking around on the strip, and my idea of fun is going to a few of the Cirque shows and going to a bunch of the other big attractions. How can I make this trip fun for the both of us while bonding with her without making things awkward?

  • If you ask someone to hang out should you pay?

My coworkers and I have been going back and fourth over this issue. My bestfriend of about 6 years is not working, he's just in school full-time. Normally when we hang out he can pay his own way with no problems but I asked to go to the movies with me this weekend and he says he doesn't have any extra money. Should I pay his way? Its only about $8 or $9. My coworkers feel that I shouldn't. He's also paid my way a few times in the past.

my coworker and I have been going nuts trying to remember the name of this movie. Its about this who watched this Asian lady get raped and killed, years later he gets married and the ghost of the lady shows up in all of the pictures and at the end the Guy goes to the crazy house ( I think) and the ghost is sitting on his shoulders. What the heck is the name of that movie?

  • What is wrong with my mom?

My mother ( age 43) has been increasingly moody these last few months ( since about October) she has been snapping at my dad, snapping at my grandma ( my grandma doesn’t live with us she has her own house), snapping at me and my younger sister and even snapping at the dogs!!!! When she has her “moments” ( that’s what I call them) she yells, screams, slams doors, cabinets etc… complains, nags, and pretty much just brings down the whole mood of everyone of the house but 10 minutes later she is cheerful, and telling jokes and just being fun. Is she bipolar? Or going through menopause or what? She’s so bad that my oldest sister moved out and I am considering moving in with her and my dad has dropped hints of wanting to leave and taking my youngest sister away.
