Can yacht clubs control the water around them?
I had the experience of having a steward of a yacht club berate me over going from the river into a part of what they considered their private property of their club. This made me wonder if he they even had that kind of jurisdiction with or without a sign?
As far as I knew, nobody can own the water of or tidal land of any public waterway. In short, you are allowed to use any waterway you'd like and even step foot on any ones property as long as it's below the tide line.
Can anyone shed some light on this ?
