  • Virtual D&D Map software for flat screen TV?

I've just gotten into D&D. (Pathfinder) to be exact. I've built a custom Gaming table by embedding a 32 inch flatscreen tv into a table to act as our game board. as seen here. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=7321385668...

I've been building maps with a simple editor online then opening the images in fullscreen to simulate the map. this however is a bit encumbering.

I'm wondering if there is a simpler solution for building maps and managing locations. Such as team goes left I open a new map for the new location.

  • Changing Curriculum but still being recognized within your style?

I'm opening a martial arts gym which will be teaching Jiu Jitsu, Karate, and MMA.

I'm not myself qualified to teach yet so I will be Contracting in instructors. I intend mainly to be the business man.

Anyhow for my Karate Class I'm not quite sure what to do. I will have my first Dan In a few months of training, and the instructor I'm bringing in has his 2nd degree, both in Tang Soo Do.

I want to Cut all the Stuff I learned originally that I truly feel doesn't work. such as one step sparring. We will teach Knife hands and what not for the forms but not for practical use. the karate Course will have Forms, and breaking for the art, and tournament. but the self defense portion of it will be made up of a blend of Kickboxing, Jiu Jitsu, and a touch of Judo.

However If we don't train our students in what we feel is a waste of time Would they really be recognized? I mean at our current level cert wise we could only truly promote them up to black belt level for now. and I want to avoid organizations that control the curriculum.

Basically this would be like our program. We're obviously not at the ability to MAKE our own style. But we would be making various changes to the Curriculum to pass. I would need to be affiliated somewhere personally to continue to get rank myself. but I'm afraid My students won't be recognized. but since I can't nesicarally promote through an organization either I'm not sure of the solution.

If anyone has any ideas, or solutions it would be a great help. Is there a more open organization that gives more freedom? or what?

  • Requirements For University of Chicago?

Hi I'm currently going for basic sciences at my Community college, but I intend on going to a major university for economics. My choices would be U-Michigan, or U-Chicago. since I would prefer Austrian economics I would prefer Chicago.

Now I sucked in highschool like so many others, no SAT's, and ended up getting a GED.

My question is what requirements would i need for a university like Chicago? assuming I keep a 3.5-4.0 in my current courses is it likely that they would overlook my high school life?

Is there anything I can do currently to boost any chance of acceptance?

  • PYTHON- adding Multiple lines to a file?

hello everyone. i'm wiriting a script that will set up a minecraft server automatically. (just for practice) currently i'm stuck at asking the user for his settings then writing them to the server.properties file. what i'm trying to do at the moment is this

    prop_file =open(server.properties, 'w')

    133

    134 #if options == ("y"):

    135 prop_file.write("generator_settings=%s\n" % Generator_settings)

    136 prop_file.write("allow-nether=%s\n" % nether)

    137 prop_file.write("level-name=world\n")

    138 prop_file.write("enable-query=%s\n" % query)

    139 prop_file.write("allow-flight=%s\n" % flight)

but this seems really innificiant, and i'm not even sure if i'm doing it right, or if it will work when i'm done. so the question is what is the best way to write multiple lines with variables to a file. if you are interested in seeing the script. https://github.com/nonprofitgibi/pythonappautomati...

however My those lines that I have been working on have not yet been pushed.

  • C Programming (Website with objectives)?

Hello I've got the Basics of programming down, such as variables and what not. however i lack creativity to come up with simple projects to keep me interested.

are there any Websites anyone can reccomend that has objectives eg. "ask for input, then write to file" something that says what it wants but is vague about it so i can do the actual work my self. I need something to accomodate from beginner up to advanced. that way i can use these as goals as I advance to keep me interested.

if anyone can reccomend something similar to this It would be appreciated.

  • game recommendations?

i'm looking for a new game to play, preferably an rpg. graphics don't really matter. and i prefer an open exploring type of world. with good leveling system. Game play however is very important to me. i don't care too much for mainstreaming of hardcore games.

    some games i enjoy.

The Elder Scrolls series (pre Oblivion), Chrono trigger, Azure Dreams, Lunar, Borderlands, Terraria, dragon age Origins,Tactics Ogre, Vandal Hearts.

story is also a + for me, i like to have emotion in my games.

  • Building My 1st Rig??

OK Ive worked on old PCs before but never actually built one from scratch. so i want to make sure i get everything i need. i want to build the best PC possible with no real price point. here is what Ive gotten so far.

    CPU-Intel i7-990x

Motherboard-G1 Sniper 2 (when its out)

Ram-12 gigs of triple channel Corsair vengeance

Case- I'm looking for Great cooling, with 1 see through side. i was thinking a cooler master

the rest I'm quite undecided on

really Ive asked before, but this is a learning experience for me, and i just need someone to tell me what i need. so could you give me a list to go with above. or any changes to it. i'm just not sure about compatibility, and i don't want to order everything just to find out i forgot something as simple as a power supply.

and, how simple is liquid cooling? i really don't want to experiment with it in a brand new PC, would you just recommend large fans?

  • keyboard-pressing buttons cancels other buttons out?

ok this is a bit hard to explain.. but for games i must hold w to move forward (a left)(d right)(s back) but pressing any key will cancel any key i'm holding. so if in a game i press right while moving forward instead of strafing diagonal, right cancels out my forward key. cause me to suddenly stop in mid game, and i must let go, and press the key again.. its very annoying.

i may attach a video to explain

  • will linux mint XFCE work well on this computer?

the computer has an old AMD CPU with around 250megs of ram with a 30gig hard drive

I used Lucid puppy for speed, because its relatively old. and i'm not sure if linux mint will work well.

i will be using XFCE, if that's too heavy i could use Fluxbox?

  • Partitioning Puppy Linux For Max Speed?

hey i have 2 old computers, each with less than 1 gig of ram.. i switched them from xp to puppy, and saw a nice speed boost (i can actually open things in less than 10 minutes) anyhow its still quite sluggish, and i think its the partitioning. I'm doing a Full Install dedicating the whole drive to Puppy linux, and a slave to storage.

for example i'll use the PC i'm on now

    originally 15gig harddrive

i originally partitioned with a huge swap file(looked like so)

not sure exactly but this is close.

    sda1 -ext4 file system -6gigs

    sda2 -ext4 Boot -500 megs

    sda3 -linux swap 7gigs

but after reading it said it was more efficient to swap in smaller partitions spread out between your drives

i added a new 30gig master, and switched old to slave

    Sda1 Swap 128 megs

    sda2 ext4-File system 26gigs

    sda3 swap 128 megs

    sda4 boot 500megs

    sdb1 swap 128 megs

    sdb2 ext4-storage-13 gigs

    sdb3 swap 128 megs

    sdb4 swap 128 megs

but here i seen a decrease in speed

I'm still new to partitioning, so what am i doing wrong, should i add more partitions, or what? use extended? any help would be appreciated, any tips for speeding up puppy are welcome too.
