I am a mother of 4 amazing kids!! I have 3 boys (14,11,3) and a true born Princess (1). I worked in the OB/GYN - Fertility field for about 10 yrs and LOVED it!! I worked part time for a few years, then started staying home when my 3 yr was born!!!

  • Information on BUN/Creatinine levels?

I have a 16 month old daughter (born at 35 weeks) who has been having health issues since she was born (drug allergies, asthma, reflux, ear infections, UTIs, and chronic diarrhea). She's had her latest bout of diarrhea for about 6 weeks now. Anywhere from 2-6 a day. VERY foul smelling, and abnormal texture. You can tell that alot of her food is not getting digested properly. Anyway, she's had stool cultures done (all negative) and a Celiac Disease panel (also negative) done. Her pedi did a CMP and a few of the values came back strange and I need some help, please. (Pedi didn't go into detail about this - my daughter has an appt in the morning with a GI at Texas Children's in Houston). Her BUN was 21 (normal) and Creatinine was 0.36 (normal) but her BUN/Creatinine ratio was 58 (should be between 8-27). I've tried doing some research, I've learned plenty on what an elevated ratio means....what I'd like to know is, does it mean the same is true, even if her individual levels are normal???

Thank you in advance!!! I know I have an appt tomorrow, but I'd like to be prepared and know of any additional questions for the doc that I might should ask!!!!

  • Is white blood cells in a 13 month old girls urine normal?

My 13mo daughter has had a few UTI's in the past (she's even had the x-rays and ultrasounds for reflux and anatomy issues - all normal). In the last month she's run up to 104 fever on 2 different occasions. And had a CBC done with a WBC count of 22k. (after antibiotics it went down). ANYWAY, her UA's - 3 of them - have all shown WBC's, but when cultured there was no abnormal growth of bacteria. Is this normal? Is it okay to have elevated WBC's in a UA with no growth??

  • Anyone with knowledge about low amniotic fluid?

I am 27 weeks pregnant (with baby number 4, and first girl). I was told today that my amniotic fluid level was at '10' and it should be 13 or higher. I was told to drink lots of fluids, take it easy/put my feet up. I know the possible causes, and potential outcomes...I'm just looking for people who have gone through this and what suggestions/advice/info they may have!!!

This pregnancy I've also had severe dehydration/hyperemisis, heart PVC's and tachycardia and am on a month long monitor, non-productive contractions, pitted edema, high blood pressure, severe headaches/migraines, and now.....low fluid level.

    Previous pregnancies:

preterm labor, preterm bith, gestational diabetes

  • Zoloft in pregnancy....okay....not okay?

I am 10w 3d pregnant with pregnancy number 9 (3 living children, 5 miscarriages). I had an appt. today and my MD advised me to take Zoloft. All over the bottle (and internet) it says DO NOT take in pregnancy....in reading more, it says specifically not to take past 20 weeks....well...if that's the case - what's the point of starting it now? SO my question is NOT whether or not it's okay to take it (I've done plenty of research) What I want to know is if YOU'VE taken it or someone you know has taken in DURING PREGNANCY????? What was the outcome...did it help...was your baby okay?

FYI...I'm a nurse...so I'm not stupid, and would prefer not to get any mean answers...I just want opinions...

    THANKS!!!

  • YOUR opinion....what's the risk.....?

I am currently 7 weeks pregnant with my 4th child.

Here goes all my history...please bare with me.....

    Starting with the oldest:

    1) 12 yoa ( I was 16 ) He weighed 11 lbs 5oz (PROBABLY had undiagnosed gestastional diabetes). He was 2 weeks late - tried to induce - had an emergency c-section due to baby heart decels

    (miscarriage at 12 weeks)

    2) 9 yoa ( I was 19 ) 10 lbs 6 oz (again...probably undiagnosed gestational diabetes). Had a scheduled c-section on my due date. Blood about 3 times normal amount; almost had to have a blood transfusion.

    (miscarriage x 4; 8wks, 3 wks, 10 wks, 12 wks -twins )

    3) 23 months (was 26) 5 lbs 7oz (new doc DIAGNOSED with GD - controled at home, had to have insulin at the hospital). At 30 wks had a positive FFN ( vaganil protien culture) was put in the hospital for "lung maturing" steriods and to moniter contractions......stayed there until 35 weeks - when I delivered (via c-section). They kept me there in fear of having my uterus rupture...with having had such big babies, and contracting the way I was (the contractions did not dialate me, only hurt like hell....they were they type of contractions some women LABOR with).

    SO...for my actual quesiton:

I want to know if you, or anyone you know, has been through this? I am very worried about this 4th pregnancy and upcoming c/section. My uterus rupturing etc. I know all the actual medical stuff...what's recommended and what's not...(ie: 4 c/sections...not recommended) but I want some personal - REAL - experiences with this.

Thank you for taking the time to read this....I felt it was all pertinant info...or I wouldn't have added it!! THANKS!!!

  • What am I having.............?

Okay....SO...I have 3 boys 12, 9 and 22 months. (the 12 yr old has a different father). I am currently 5wks 5 days pregnant. I AM DYING TO KNOW WHAT IT IS!!!!! I have done the ancient chinese gender prediction and it says GIRL ( I was too young with my first, and it was right for the other two). This pregnancy has so far been VERY different than the others, but each one of them seemed different than the others also.... I've heard of the blood work you can do at 10-11 weeks, but it's like $250 to do. I know I will have an u/s done at 18-20 weeks...and I've researched different "old wives tales" on gender...anyway....just looking for some ideas. lol....I'm almost scared to the point of not finding out what it is until it's born!!!

    Thanks for the ideas!!!!
