  • How do I get a job in recruitment?

I am 30 years old and looking for a career change, and recruitment is the direction that I want to try. For the last 3 years I have been self employed and run my own internet business, but I feel that it is time to move on from that and get into a more stable, hands on career. I have previously spent 8 years working in customer services and sales roles for a big insurance company, as well as an online wine retailer. I also have some retail management experience, alongside having spent time working for a car dealership in the USA.

I have a lot on my CV, but have had no luck in applying for anything, not even interviews. I don't have a degree but with all of the customer services experience that I have, along with some sales too, this surely gives me the raw transferable skills to at least have a chance in recruitment? I understand that this is going to be a sales focused position, and that employers look primarily for graduates, but it's not like I have nothing to offer the role. With my work experience aside, not many people in their twenties can say they have worked abroad and built their own business right?

Can anyone give me any advice as to how I might get into a recruitment role (I live in the UK), or does anybody know somebody who has got into the industry without a degree?

Any help and advice would be hugely appreciated.

    Thanks in advance guys.

  • Can Nicholas Mahut make it two titles in a month today in Newport?

I'm not a religious man, but I have prayed for Nico Mahut to win an ATP tour title for many years, as he was in serious danger of just becoming one of Tennis' journeymen. Three weeks ago he won his maiden title in Den Bosch, and this week he has reached another final on the grass courts of Newport in the States. Can he win a second crown against Lleyton Hewitt, the Aussie who will realise this is probably going to he his best shot at a last career title on the tour?

Side question: Who is the player you would most like to be a first time winner on the tour and why?

  • I am in a massive rut in my life, how can I make a real change?

I am in my late twenties and in a huge rut in life.

The root of everything is that I am just awful with money, and spend it like it has no value, mainly on partying and gambling, irresponsible things.

Having lived abroad for a while I am currently back home with family. I have an easy life in that they let me get away with anything, and don't encourage me to sort my life out and get back out into the world. I am not blaming them, as I am old enough to do the right thing without being pushed.

The fact is that I have my own online business and this means I can work from home and only put in the hours I want, but still get a good wage at the end of the month. I am always out with my friends and blowing all of my money, instead of paying off debts and things like that. I literally live month to month, never save, and always owe people money because I am so bad with it.

I am single and not so good with commitment, although do feel that if I were in a relationship I would maybe feel differently and change my ways, but the fact is I never seem to meet anyone I would take that chance for.

The way things are I am going backwards in life every month and I see no end to it, that may sound dramatic but it's true. I am in a rut and need to do something totally different to change that, but I have no idea what.

With no money behind me to just move out etc... I just don't know what the answer could be. I talk to my friends about my problems but can never seem to just explain everything, so they will never fully understand. The longer I am where I am and acting like I am 18 without a care in the world, the closer I am getting to total ruin, financially especially.

I need to do something life changing, but what?
