Hypothetical situation:

19 year old male caught shoplifting (first offense). 2 "dollar store" items. Items are immediately returned when suspect is apprehended by the security guard, and police are called. He cooperates and charges are laid without incident.

Accused sees Crown Attorney within a week of charges be laid, and all charges are dropped by the CA on the condition that the accused makes a donation to a local charity (no receipt) as "penalty". Charges are now gone, court date was never reached.

Male in question suddenly receives a letter by regular mail demanding loss recovery costs incurred by the store to a total of $520 if paid within 14 days to the recovery agency. If not paid in this time, costs could be up to $975.

Since the court date was never met and there was no prosecution, the only involvement of the store they are collecting for was to call security. Security had no more involvement after the police arrived, and the matter did not go to court.

Is this money really collectible, or is this a type of "fear mongering" collection scam? It seems highly unreasonable what they are asking for.

I'm looking for some good, get your booty shaking and get motivated to do "stuff" kinds of songs.

I love drums, it's got to be quick tempo (but not insanely fast), with rhythm. If it's got a Latin feel, even better!

Just prior to my father's passing due to lung cancer a year ago, he was sent a letter by the Government saying he was entitled to Disability Insurance and payments retroactive to 2002. We have filled out forms and sent them off, but have heard nothing since. Just curious as to what he would have been entitled to, and if anyone knows how to go about following up on this. He has been gone a year past August 2nd.
