  • Criminals don't subject themselves to firearm background checks. Can this be proven?

NRA says that criminals won't try to buy firearms that reqiure background checks. Can anyone prove this. Many states that run their own firearm background checks report that fugitives are apprehended during the firearm background check process.

Does that disprove the NRA contention?

  • Is Casey Anthony suing FL for her legal defense costs?

The Zimmerman attempt to get the state to cover (or reimburse) his defense fees prompted me to wonder if Casey Anthony has attempted to do the same. And if not, why not?

  • Did ABC really expect Court documents to reveal a secret NSA connection ?

ABC news is touting that the court documents associated with the Stock Market surveillance for a bombing location did not reveal that the NSA was involved in identifying any of the persons involved.

Therefore, they conclude that the NSA and the FBI are misleading Congress when the FBI says that NSA provided leads about the plans and the participants.

Seriously, did ABC really expect the court documents to reveal the NSA's SECRET involvement?

  • Collection of telephone metadata illegal?

It would seem that the Supreme Court has already ruled on the expectation of privacy issue with with regard to telephone metadata: See Smith v Maryland 442 US 735 (1979).

The majority opinion held that collection of "telephone metadata" did not require a warrant, that there is no reasonable expectation of privacy with regard to these records.

Crossroads Global Policy Strategies ( a Karl Rove organization) applied for 501c4 approval on Sept 7 2010. Supposedly they spent over 110 million over the past two years, including 70 million during the 2012 election.

As of two months ago, their application for 501c4 has yet to be approved.

What happens if their application is not approved?

  • What constitutes the 600 billion tax increase passed in January?

What constitutes the 600 billion tax increase passed in January?

The Republicans say that the Democrats got a 600 billion tax increase in January 2013 that will affect every american worker. Is the 600 billion just from raising the top bracket rate or were there increases in other areas. How much will be raised over the next ten years from the top bracket shift?

  • Is there a problem with IRS accepting efile returns?

All of the forms and schedules I use have been accepted by the IRS for the past month.

so I should not have a problem there.

Turbo tax has been telling me of the past ten days that the IRS has not accepted my returns.

Until they accept the return they can not begin to process.

    So what's the issue.

  • Firearms in Kentucky - why is demand so high?

Kentuckians attempted to purchase firearms at ten times the rate of Texas in 2011.

Based on the number of background checks for firearms sales, Kentucky lead the nation with 2.3 million in 2011. KY has total population of 4.3 million.

Do Kentuckians know something the rest of us don't --- impending invasion or possible land grab by Ohio?

  • Are property owners liable in a Gun Free Zone aka "Criminal Protection Zone"?

Postulated by the gun advocates is that if a property owner restricts gun possession, he becomes liable to visitors because lawful gun owners are not able to protect themselves from a person trespassing with a gun who causes injury to visitors?

  • Does the Bill of Rights only pertain to law abiding people?

The 2nd amendment clearly says that no law shall infringe on the right of the people to bear arms.

And yet the NRA and other 2nd amendment rights advocates take the position that criminals and mentally disabled people should not, by law, have possession of arms. In fact they are encouraging full enforcement of laws that restrict sales to criminals or the mentally disabled.

I don't see where in the constitution that it says that the 2nd amendment or any of the bill of rights only applies to non-criminals and rational people.

Can some one explain this apparent contradiction?

  • Does the second amendment limit "right bear arms" to law-abiding citizens only?

The gun rights advocates proclaim that the 2nd amendment guarantees the right of law-abiding people to bear arms.

But it doesn't appear that the second amendment rights only applies to the law abiding people. In fact I can't find any where there is a distinction that sets law abiding people apart from the remainder of the population.

It would appear that the US Constitution prohibits Congress from establishing any law that would prohibit criminals their right to possess firearms.

  • Legal obligations of Federal Firearms Licensed dealer to report denials?

I was wondering if the FFL dealer has any obligations with law enforcement when a potential customer is denied during NICS background check.

What is a dealer expected to do if presented with a drivers license that is questionable (like the photo not really resembling the person presenting it)?

  • Will Issa's committee subpoena Fox News and Jen Griffin on Benghazi attack?

Fox News claims to have significant information from a unnamed source that directly contradicts statements from the White House, The Pentagon, and the CIA about an alleged denial of assistance to the Ambassador in Benghazi.

Will the House oversite committee (Daryll Issa's committee) even try to get sworn testimony to attempt to get to the truth?

  • Who are the foreign owners of Federal debt?

We hear that China, Japan and Oil Exporters own US federal debt. Even countries like Spain and Ireland own some of the US debt. My question is are these foreign governments the owners or is some debt owned by foreign citizens? I thought that governments of Ireland and Spain were in deep financial difficulties, despite that they have surplus money to invest in US debt?

  • No Tax on interest, dividends, or capital gains - How will that work?

My IRA is the accumulation of all the 401ks that I had over the course of 45 years of work. Some part of that is tax deferred earnings, some part of that is interest earned on those tax-deferred earnings. The tax code today says that any funds withdrawn from my IRA are taxed as ordinary income.

If Romney is elected and really exempts interest (assuming I'm making less than 200,000 per year), I would think that the interest portion of my IRA would not be taxed. Is that realistic?

The next issue is how to determine the cost-basis of my IRA. My custodian tells me that it would be next to impossible to try to accurately compute what portion of my IRA is interest or dividends. Most custodians don't track the cost-basis for 401Ks. To exempt interest requires knowing the cost-basis. So how can that work?
