I have had my Pit since she was 7 weeks old. She is now 8 years old and never shown any type of fear of thunder until yesterday! We had a few storms rolling through our area and she went ballistic! She tried to tear up the couch cushion, she tore up the bathroom rug, peed in the living room floor. I was home when it happened, and had enough so I put her in her crate. She tore the plastic tray in the bottom of her kennel and pee'peedrywhere! She just saw the vet last Friday for her yearly exam and vaccines and she got a clean bill of health! I think it has something to do with the storms. My question is why now, at 8, is she gonna freak out over a storm...we have them every year! Usually from April until late August to mid September....How am I ever going to get thru the summers! I'm honestly afraid she will have a heart attack. The vet just wants to put her on a sedative. I'm supposed to give it to her when the storms start! I don't want to sedate her but I don't want her going insane either!
