My doctor suspects a meniscus tear?
I hurt my knee by doing squats, pain persisted for a long time (3 months) when I went to my doctor, he saw my x rays and said everything is normal but suspected a meniscus tear he asked me to take glucosamine sulfate for a month. Can I expect this treatment to be effective?
What are the other do's and dont's?
I am 18 years old and I don't see any swelling, but inflammation is there and motion is not restricted but at times little painful while stretching my knee in air,but able to do it. Will ice or heat work? Any exercises or diet?

5 AnswersEngineering5 years agoplease help me with this doubt from moment of intertia?
in this video
http://www.physicsgalaxy.com/lectures/1/44/234/Sol... only the question)
the method illustrated is integration but i thought of an alternate method,
moment of inertia of half disc with radius r2 is 1/2mr2^2 and that of half disc with radius r1 is 1/2mr1^2.so the moment of intertia of system must be equal to difference of these moment of inertia since half disc with radius r2 is cutoff from radius r1,so shouldn't moment of inertia be subtracted too?

2 AnswersChemistry5 years agoCan conservation of momentum be applied here?
Take the case of Atwood machine, Where the masses of blocks are m and m,now, another ball of mass m strikes one of the blocks with a speed v and sticks to it.
Considering our system as blocks+ball+string connecting the blocks(no pulley),can we apply conservation of momentum?
Please explain why?our system is blocks+ball+string and no pulley.
Assume no gravity acts anywhere.

1 AnswerPhysics6 years agoplease help me with this doubt?
take the case of atwood machine where masses of blocks are m and 2m.
the acceleration of individual masses are g/3.now the acceleration of center of mass of masses and string system is (m*g/3-2m*g/3)/3m = g/9.
there is only one force acting on the masses and string system-gravity.the net gravitational force is 3mg and therefore the acceleration of center of mass must be 3mg/3m=g.
acceleration of center of masses derived are not matching why?

1 AnswerMathematics6 years agoWORK ENERGY AND POWER question,PLEASE HELP.?
A block of mass m begins sliding down a smooth fixed wedge of height h,a rough plank of mass M is placed at the base of wedge (coefficient of friction is p),due to the friction between the block and plank, the block slows down and start moving together.what is the work done by friction in this case?
shouldn't it be change in kinetic energy of sliding block(1/2(m)v^2-1/2mu^2)?
v-mu/(M+m)
u-sqrt(2gh)
given answer is (1/2(M+m)v^2-1/2mu^2),why?please help,i am breaking my head because of this question.
1 AnswerPhysics6 years agoan important conceptual question from newton's laws of motion?
see this video lecture
http://www.physicsgalaxy.com/lectures/1/8/130/Solv...
we get a1 and a2 from newton's laws of motion but these results don't match with the constrained equation obtained(see the photo attached).
please explain why?if the constrained equation is wrong, explain the correct constrained equation and why the constrained equation attached is wrong.

in this question why is the friction force between block b and ground taken as limiting friction? please explain in detail.
1 AnswerPhysics6 years agowhen a body is revolving in a circle on a rough floor, what is the direction of friction?
shouldn't it be in the tangential direction as friction opposes relative motion and since the direction of velocity is tangential so shouldn't the direction of friction also be in tangential direction.
