NJ driver license after suspension or revocation in another state?
Can someone who moved to NJ from another state get a NJ driver license after suspension or revocation of the one he had in that state? Is there a waiting period? How long?
3 AnswersLaw & Ethics10 years agoWhat is the law and the ethics of contacting someone at a guessed e-mail address?
Some places have a clear system of creating e-mail addresses. Suppose I work at nosuchcompany.com, or nodept.state.nj.us, and my address could be guessed as johnbrown@nosuchcompany.com or johnbrown@nodept.state.nj.us. Is it OK to contact me at such an address, even if it's not published? Include your state, and a reference to your state's laws if you can, in your answer.
1 AnswerLaw & Ethics10 years agoWhat is a "reputable lawyer"?
How can you tell, other than after the fact, who is and who isn't?
6 AnswersLaw & Ethics10 years agoHow long does a marriage have to be to be considered a "long-term marriage"? Consequences?
This is NJ, but other states may also be of interest.
What practical difference does it make whether or not a marriage is "long-term" before divorce? How does it affect the time and amount of spousal support? Any other things?

2 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoHow to get an injunction to prevent a NJ landlord from locking out a tenant?
The landlord has changed the locks to the house, didn't give keys to tenants, doesn't lock them yet, but said he would on the 1st. He has no court order of eviction. Which court and which part to go to? What to file? How much does it cost?
1 AnswerRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoWhat is the incidence rate of female-on-male assault?
That is, how many females have assaulted males per 100,000 population per year? What are the similar rates for male-on-male, male-on-female, and female-on-female assaults? Specifically, I'm interested in assaults in NJ that are NOT domestic in nature.
2 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoIn NJ, how can a tenant go about getting a restraining order against his landlord's harassment?
The landlord is trying to force a tenant out of an illegal apartment (the landlord has never applied for a permit and has no certificate of occupancy and no certificate of registration). This is beginning to get physical, and police have been called by both parties on several occasions, but there were no fines or arrests. How to stop this before someone gets seriously hurt?
Please cite your sources, and don't just tell me to "talk to a lawyer".
5 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoWhat recourse or remedies for constructive eviction does a residential tenant have in NJ?
The landlord has switched off the tenant's water and gas service. This is constructive eviction. What can and should the tenant do? How to go about it? Does it matter if the landlord has no Certificate of Occupancy from the State or the Town?
1 AnswerLaw & Ethics1 decade agoHow to calculate fair wage or salary for a combined job, eg. a legal nurse (somebody with both RN and JD)?
What I mean is a "double-duty" job, one that requires both job descriptions at the same time, or switching between them so often that hiring two people would make them to communicate so much of the time that little actual work would be done. If a nurse makes X/year and an average lawyer makes Y, how much should a nurse who is also a lawyer make? It seems reasonable that it should be more than both X and Y, since the pool of nurse-lawyers is smaller than both that of lawyers and of nurses. A legal nurse is a lawyer (JD) with extra skills (RN), and a nurse (RN) with extra skills (JD), so he/she should be paid more than both an RN and a JD.
This is different from a "combined job", like cook/housekeeper, someone who does one job part of the time, then another job another part. For example, if a cook makes X and a housekeeper makes Y, someone who works as a cook 60% of the time and as a housekeeper 40% should make 0.60X+0.40Y.
What about "triple-duty" jobs?
4 AnswersLaw & Legal1 decade agoIn NJ, how does a landlord remove a tenant from an apartment without a Certificate of Occupancy?
Is it OK to go to a Landlord-Tenant court, or is there a different procedure? Is it what's called "ejectment"? How is it done? How long does it usually take?
