  • How do you drill a hole through glass?

So my nephew and I take walks by the river and collect "river glass" which is broken pieces of glass that the river has smoothed out over time so they aren't sharp at all and are very pretty.

I want to make something from them. I have a bucketful of pieces. I have tried to drill holes in it before and it didn't work. I'm pretty sure I used a special drill bit and also lubricated the glass with oil (lol) because I thought that would help. Didn't work.

So, crafty people, how do you drill a hole through glass? What tools do I need or special bits? I thought this would be a fun question to ask.

Glass is mostly from jars, bottles, etc and are about 1/4 inch thick. I was thinking of making a wind chime or something cool like that for my nephew.
