For those who have had a tonsillectomy as an adult...?
I am 29 years old and am considering a tonsillectomy. I have bad tonsillitis flare ups about 4 times a year and it is so miserable! My question is, is it worth it? I have heard horror stories about the recovery and pain involved with this surgery for adults. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks:)
2 AnswersOther - General Health Care1 decade agoWondering if this could mean impending labor...?
Hi! I know things happen differently for different people, but I am just wondering if anyone experienced these symptoms prior to the onset of labor. Yesterday I had two bouts of nausea. I also had this "tired" feeling in my abdomen like I had been doing sit ups or crunches...that happened a couple of times yesterday and today. A few minutes ago I stood up to walk to a different room and the pressure on my pelvis was so bad that I had to lie down. Since then I have had a sharp pain on the right side of my lower abdomen that has come and gone twice. I have been having Braxton Hicks contractions for several weeks now but have noticed that they have increased in frequency and intensity over the past few days...still by no means regular, though. Oh...forgot to mention that I am 36 weeks along. I would love to hear about any of your experiences...thanks:)
4 AnswersPregnancy1 decade ago34 and a half weeks and question about contractions...?
Hi! I have been having Braxton Hicks contractions with no pain for some time now. For the past couple of days, though, I have noticed some light menstrual-like cramping with a few of them. Is this completely normal for this stage (going on 35 weeks) or should I be concerned about going into early labor? They are not at all regular and the cramping does not occur with all of them. Thanks in advance for your input:)
3 AnswersPregnancy1 decade ago31 weeks and question about contractions...?
Hi! I am 31 weeks and having contractions whenever I shift positions, especially if i go from sitting or lying down to standing. I am assuming they are Braxton Hicks, but just wondering if this is normal. They are not really painful, just uncomfortable. Also, several times since yesterday evening, I have felt like my right hip bone is being cracked in two. I've had sciatica off and on, but this feels different. I have an appointment first thing in the morning...just thought I'd ask while I'm waiting. Thanks in advance:)
5 AnswersPregnancy1 decade ago23 weeks pregnant and pain when getting up...?
Hi! I am almost 23 weeks along and have been having a lot of pain in my lower abdomen and upper thighs when getting up from a lying down position. I don't remember this happening with my first pregnancy until much later. Is this normal? Thanks:)
4 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoDo you think this name is too close to my own?
We are having a little girl and want to name her Callie Lane. My name is Kelly and my husband is concerned that the names are too similar. Other than that, though, he loves it. We are not trying to name her after me or anything...we just really love the name. What do you think? Thanks:)
9 AnswersBaby Names1 decade ago21 weeks pregnant and injured wrist...any suggestions?
I fell in a parking lot a little over a week ago and landed on one knee and both arms (palms down to the pavement). My right wrist has been consistently getting worse. I have been keeping it wrapped and iced when I can, but I have a 2 year old to take care of so I can't always keep it still. It's swollen and bruised...I think I may have sprained it. I called my ob and he said it wouldn't do me any good to go to the doctor because they can't do an x-ray and can't prescribe any medications for it. So now I'm looking for home remedies...I am in a lot of pain and would be grateful for any suggestions. Thanks:)
5 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoFor those of you who only have boys or girls (not one or more of each)...?
Does it aggravate you when people ask if you are disappointed not to have one of the other sex? We are expecting our second daughter in early February and whenever we tell people we're having another girl, the question is always the same..."Oh, are you disappointed it's not a boy?" Or they say something like, "I guess you'll be trying again for a boy." It's like they think we can't be happy with our two girls...which could not be further from the truth. We are absolutely thrilled to have two daughters. It drives me crazy when people make comments like that, and it's all I can do to keep my mouth shut. Does this bother anyone else or am I being too sensitive? Thanks!
5 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoDid anyone feel movement as early as 12 weeks?
Hi! I am just over 12 weeks along with my second little angel. With my first, I didn't feel any movement (that I was aware of) until after 20 weeks, but now I am feeling the same thing, like a bubble popping. I was just wondering if any of you other moms felt movement this early? Thanks:)
7 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoNeed help with a middle name...?
Hi! We don't know if we are having a boy or a girl yet, but we have a name picked out for each. Adeline (pronounced with the long i sound, like line) for a girl and Jack for a boy. My daughter's middle name is Rose, so that one's out. Thanks for any suggestions!
17 AnswersBaby Names1 decade agoElevated lymphocyte/white cell count?
Hi! My daughter (almost 21 months old) had tubes put in her ears today. She has been fighting ear infections for weeks now and also developed a cold over the weekend with a cough and runny nose. The doctor that put her tubes in called a little while ago to check on her and said that her lymphocytes and white cell count were elevated to a slightly abnormal amount and he suggested that we follow up with her pediatrician in a couple of weeks to check on it. I know this can happen when fighting off an infection, so I'm trying not to panic, but it's not working so well. Does anyone have any advice, experience, or encouraging words? Thanks so much!
3 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoWeak positive blood test?
Hi! This morning I took an hpt and it was positive:) It wasn't a very strong positive, but it was there. I went and got a blood test done this afternoon and the nurse just called with the results. She said it was positive, but a very weak positive. So now I'm freaking out. I would have thought hcg would show up stronger in a blood test. I should have started AF a few days ago. Advice? Thanks!
4 AnswersTrying to Conceive1 decade agoDizziness/lightheadedness...?
I know that no one on this board can tell me whether or not I'm pregnant, but the wait is driving me crazy!! I am about 8-9 days PO and yesterday and today I have had some pretty bad dizzy spells. I would think it's too early to be having this as an early pregnancy symptom but I don't know what else it could be. I have been taking my prenatal vitamins for a couple of months now (just started TTC this month) so I don't think it's a deficiency of any kind. I don't remember having this symptom with my daughter until a few months in. Anyone else experience this so early? Thanks for your input and good luck to everyone TTC!!
1 AnswerTrying to Conceive1 decade agoHas anyone gotten pregnant after you thought you were several days past ovulation?
My husband and I had sex last Tuesday, 3 days after I thought I was done ovulating (judging mainly from cervical mucus). My boobs have been tingling a lot for a couple of days now, which is not usually a noticeable PMS symptom for me. I know it's early, but I also know this symptom can show up just a few days after conception. We have used the natural family planning method successfully for years and I have never had trouble knowing when I am ovulating. We were planning on TTC number 2 starting next month anyway. Just wondering if any of you out there did conceive after you thought you were done ovulating. Thanks for your input!
3 AnswersTrying to Conceive1 decade agoAny suggestions for making my daughter more comfortable in her carseat (forward facing) when she is sleeping?
We have just recently moved our daughter to her "big girl" carseat, and I worry about her not having enough support for her head when she falls asleep. It has a head cushion but her head falls forward instead of sideways. Do any of you know of anything i could try to help with this? Thanks!
4 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoIs it normal for a 15 month old baby's gums to bleed when her teeth are brushed?
Hi! I have a 15 month old daughter and just the past couple of days her gums have been bleeding when I brush her teeth. Should I be worried? Do I need to call her doctor? Or is this normal if she is teething? Thanks for your help!
6 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoGross but i need some input...my daughter ate cat puke...is she okay?
Hi! My 12 month old daughter was playing on the living room floor...I was getting some paper towels (in the same room) to clean up where the cat had thrown up, and when I turned around my daughter was eating it...I got what I could out of her mouth...I don't think she had much...what should I do?
3 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoQuestion about pinkeye?
Hi! I think my 11 month old daughter is sick and I'm worried it may be pinkeye. She slept about 2 hours later than usual this morning (I checked on her several times to make sure she was okay). When she did get up, her right eye was matted shut. I worked it open with a damp cloth. Her eye looks swollen underneath and it looks like she has a clear film over it. A few minutes ago I changed her diaper and it was really runny. Is this one of the symptoms? She is not running fever and she seems to feel okay. I have put in a call to the pediatrician but thought I'd get some input from other moms while I'm waiting for the call back. She is my first baby, in case you couldn't tell:) Thanks for any help!!
7 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoQuestion about meningitis...?
Hi! My 11 month old daughter and I had lunch with my dad today. Later he called and told me to be sure and wipe her down good with a baby wipe or something because he found out a lady he works with (that he shook hands with earlier) has been hospitalized with meningitis. Both my daughter and I had physical contact with my dad. I have put in a call to the pediatrician and am waiting to hear back. Does anyone know how contagious this is, what the chances are of contracting it that way, etc.? She is up on all of her immunizations. Now I am just a very worried mommy...does anyone have any input? Thanks!
