? About Child Negligence?
I've read a few ?s on here where people have asked what to do about parents not watching young children and most people have suggested calling the police or family services. But that doesn't always work. A girl I worked with lives on a busy road. One evening the people across the street came over carring a 2 year old, who had a diaper on and nothing else, and asked them if they knew who's it was. She did know it was their next store neighbors son. They walked over there and knocked and no one answered, the lights were off, and no cars were in the driveway. My friend actually went inside the house. The door wasn't locked. Neither parent was home. Their 9 year old son was upstairs sleeping and in a different room their 5 month old daughter was also sleeping. My friend called the police. The police got there and the parents returned about 20 minutes later. The wife said she had to pick up her husband from the hospital. That itself might not sound too bad to some people, to me it still is horrible, but to make things worse they were eating icecream cones that they had stopped to get on the way home. The lady was actually mad that my friend had went inside her house and didn't even thank anyone to making sure her kids were safe. The police told my friends that all they could do was called Family Services. That was months ago but nothing has come from it. What else can you really do?????
