  • Emergency for family overseas-minor fly U.S. to Europe with out passport?

My grandma is in intensive care in Switzerland right now. We wont know the severity of her condition until tomorrow probably. regardless, I am trying to plan the trip for myself and my 2 1/2 yr old son (her first and only great grand whom she loves dearly). I have a passport, my son does not yet but I do have his birth certificate. I had already made an appointment at the passport agency for two days from now, but I know through my own experiences how long passport processing takes.

My question is- does anyone have any experience or knowledge of emergency flying without a passport?

I plan to discuss this with the passport agent, but id like to know as much as possible before I go (not all customer service reps can give you the information you need).

    Thanks for your help.

  • Does cooking in an iron skillet add iron to the food?

My Biology teacher in highschool told me that anyone needing to add iron to their diet should not only eat iron rich foods, but also cook in an iron skillet. He meant that cooking in the skillet would help supplement the food. Does anyone know the science behond that?

  • how to hem these large holes?

I need advice on seeming the edges around large holes. I have about 30 white tablecloths that have permanent oil stains on them in random spots. So, instead of throwing them out, I had an idea to cut out large sections around the oily spots to make a sort of cow pattern (I would be putting the holey white tablecloths over solid black ones). I cut holes in one white tablecloth to preview the effect and it looks really cool but I now need to know how to make it so that the fabric around the holes wont fray apart with use and washing. The info on the purchase receipt says it is "Solid White Tablecloth Poplin Fabric Soil Resistant Finish 100% Polyester".

I was thinking of using fabric adhesive, but I think it might be visible through the cloth and look ugly.
