1 AnswerPhysics2 years ago9 letters, you want one specific one. You are shown a set of 3 letters each round. What's the chance you get your letter for each round?
Let's say you have 9 letters, ABCDEFGHI, and you want A. You are shown a set of 3 letters each round (ex. DHA). What are the chances you are shown the letter A in round 1? round 2? etc. Letters can be reused each round, but not repeated (no AAB). What I got was 9*8*7=504 possible combinations with no repeated letters and 504/3=168 have an A in them. 168/504=1/3 chance to get an A in the first round. So 2/3(chance of not getting an A the first round)^n= probability you won't get an A, and 1-(2/3)^n= probability of getting an A in "n" rounds. Does this make any sense? I need someone smarter than me to explain this to me cuz my brain just cannot process this stuff.
