  • Why don't people follow common sense in determining if Obamacare will work?

More People + Less contributions per person = Less Coverage and/or Higher cost for the individuals that do pay.

You can't break this fundamental law.

Also Insurance is risk based approach. They don't expect you to get sick every year, if you did it would cost you even more. So adding a bunch of individuals who don't pay, simply increases the cost because its increasing the likelihood of services being used up.

Any economics individual would tell you as Demand rises for the same supply, the price goes up. and if you want to increase the supply someone better pay for it.

Pretty soon the government won't be able to Tax us anymore because we won't have any more money left.

  • How can the U.S. Government Spend 400+ Million dollars on a Healthcare website?!?!?!?

Forget the fact that the website crashes. Even if the website worked, why aren't government officials going to jail for spending 400+ million on a website.

We could have bought the entirety of Oracle products (hardware, software, website designed) and hired Google as an advisor for a fraction of the cost to get the job done. 400+ million is ridiculous.

  • How is Jason Collins annoucement viewed as brave?

This is not a homophobic comment but a criticism on how late in the movement of gay rights this is.

We live in a culture that openly accepts homosexuals. In some instances, being gay increases your chances of success.

Lets weigh the outcomes for Jason Collins saying he is gay

    Plus-side to coming out

    Global Publicity

    Increased Likelihood of sponsorships

Probably will get invited to do talk shows.

Any one who speaks out against him or makes any sort of homophobic comment will risk losing their career or reputation.

    Down-side to coming out

    None

I just feel like his announcement is a little late for me to have an impact that hasn't already been paved by millions of people who already fought for gay rights. What is Jason going to say next, he agrees with women's right to vote because that would be equally unsurprising.

  • If America votes that 2+2=5, do republicans need to come to terms that 2+2=5?

Or should we say, you are all complete idiots and 2+2=4. I'm not compromising because 2+2 will always be 4, i don't care how many idiots vote that 2+2=5.

Just because you voted for it doesn't make it right. I hate the assumption that majority vote equates to validation, being correct, and being the solution.

  • The banks get bailed out on all the mortgages and yet they still get to foreclose on you to own your home?

Does anyone else think that is screwed up?

America is going to turn into a bunch of people living on the street looking at empty houses.

  • Did she break up with me or did i break up with her?

My ex-girlfriend told me that if i went to go play trivia with some friends that she would break up me. I knew she wasn't bluffing but i still decided to go out with my friends to play. I figured my actions of going out would end the relationship and didn't care because i was just fed up with her. My ex-girlfriend is one of those super controlling insecure girls that doesn't even want me to go to work because of the off chance that a girl is going to flirt/hit on me.

  • Where are the Grants for HR 3950, the recently passed Health Care Bill?

If you don't know, the New Health Care bill included numerous grants in many different areas such as education, non profit organizations...etc...

The bill states that i can look in either grants.gov or the government agency to find the grants you wish to apply for. I have gone to each respected website and can't find one grant associated to the bill. I have asked for help but i have been sent to grants that were created from other past bills and legislation. I'm assuming since the bill is new, that they simply haven't updated the website or have had enough time to post the grants.

I'm assuming its on a website that only the professionals know of and is never publicized.

  • Anyone watch First Time Home Buyer on HGTV.com?

Watched an episode where a couple kept talking themselves into paying full price into a home. In this economy who is going to pay full price, thats insane. What is thier realtor thinking?

Also the lender wanted them to put 93,000 down on a 500k house. What kind of amount is that? They had the money but went to a different lender and got them to accept 42,000 down. If couples with 93,000 in the bank have complications getting a loan, what was a purpose of the bailout money giving out to banks.

  • What are the achievements and good qualities of Barrack Obama?

I'm probably guilty of talking poorly and disproving of 95% of what Obama does but i think its important to support the president and give credit where credit is due.

So i want everyone to name to good points of Obama. If you want to talk poorly of him, start another question because thats not what i'm looking for here.

    Example

Some of the things i think are great qualities:

    1) Obama is a great speaker. (Bush was terrible and its a breathe of fresh air to have someone who can actually articulate his words)

    2) Obama's drive and persistance. Even though i am against HR 3200, it does seem like Obama is trying to modify the bill or creating a new bill to meet the needs of the people. (whether that should be accredited to the people opposing the bill or Obama is actually working across party lines....i don't know)

Feel free to repeat the same qualities, even if someone already said that.

  • How would you try to define "spousal equivalent"?

One of the difficulties that standard setters face in both accounting and auditing is whether to give detailed rules about how do something or whether to give some broad principle. As you may know there is a famous statement about how to define pornography that in a way summarizes the dilemma in accounting and auditing. The following was obtained from: http://library.findlaw.com/2003/May/15/132747.html

"In 1964, Justice Potter Stewart tried to explain 'hard-core' pornography, or what is obscene, by saying, 'I shall not today attempt further to define the kinds of material I understand to be embraced . . . [b]ut I know it when I see it . . . '"

The independence standard discusses the concept of "spousal equivalent." If you were a member of the PCAOB, how would you try to define that concept? Or like Justice Stewart, is it something that you know when you see it? Would the current conservative political climate influence the way you might define that? What difficulties are inherent in defining that?

  • Wouldn't scarcity of resources create "death panels"?

Wouldn't scarcity of resources automatically create a death panel?

If there is only one heart and we have to decide whether to give it to a 102 year old man or give it to a 18 year old woman, how do we make these decisions?

If everyone breaks down with cancer, and its extremely expensive for some of the treatments, how do we allocate resources, how do we decide who lives or who dies? We can't simply give anyone half the treatment or part of the treatment.

Keep in mind, i'm just highlighting on the extremes, i didn't even touch base on all the costs of normal doctor visits.

In my opinion, we have had death panels in the past, we have them now, and will have them in the future but hopefully one day we won't need them.

Keep in mind, no health care organization that will call their "death panel" a death panel.

  • How much of the US debt is due to fraud, corruption and political bribery?

There is no question about whether we have debt or a deficit but how much of it was created by fraud, corruption and political bribery?

Our government is audited by the government. What are the chances of turning themselves in?

Obama stated he is going to fund the part of his health care bill with the 600 billion dollars of inefficiencies, fraud, and corruption already in the system. If he knows their is inefficiencies, fraud and corruption.....can't you and shouldn't you correct that regardless if the bill gets passed?

Do you think some other independent entity audit our government?

  • Why does the U.S. have the Federal Office of Inspector General?

Please review what the Inspector General does for the country by clicking on this website. The Inspector General is a section of the U.S. Government.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inspector_General#Uni...

Especially in a time where the U.S. is starting to take over companies and wanting to take over Health Care, why is it that the Inspector General is Auditing the U.S. Meaning they are being audited by themselves.

Corporations can barely be transparent and accurate about their financials when independent auditors are performing the audit.

Do we expect our government to show where its screwing up, committing fraud, paying off politicians for votes, and spending our tax dollars like their personal piggie bank when they audit themselves?
