All my friends at school are at least 6 foot tall - most about 6.2 and some even 6.6 and taller!

I am 16 - most of my friends are also 16, some 17.

I am 5.10 (179.5cm) and I really want to be as tall as them. I don't want to end up being the shortest guy out of my friends!

The distance from Melbourne to a Railway Station in Gippsland is 120km. The average speed of one train is 9 km/hr faster than that of another train.

Let x = faster train & y= slower train.

Please show working:

a) Give the speed of the slower train in terms of x

b) Give the time taken, in hours, for each of the trains to travel from Melbourne to Gippsland stations.

c) Write an equation relating the two times.

d) From this equation, show that x^2 - 9x -1620 = 0

e) Solve this equation for x

f) Hence find the speeds for the two trains
