  • Medical Problems-dropping out of school?

    hello,

    i feel like utter **** right now. basically i've been on a couple of prescribed drugs. for about two years now, mainly for what my doctors think may be borderline personality disorder and ADHD. I felt pretty bad before being put on these meds, and my moods have been pretty stable since I starting taking the drugs. well, come on along obama's new health insurance plan initiated in january. Dont get me wrong, I dont think its was a bad idea in of itself-bottomline is my drugs are now $250 more a month so my parents decide I should come off my meds as they have this stigma (which really pisses me off) that I shouldnt have these mood disorders because I was raised in a good upbringing and I've been "fine" these past two years. Which is true, and makes me feel extremely ashamed like no other...i cant swallow my pride. so how could I say "no". So I started slowly tapering off from my meds about 5 or 6 weeks ago, as recommended by the doctor, until I completely stopped taking it last week. Withdrawal symptoms have been creeping in, and in the last two days they have completely hit me like a brick wall. I can handle the "brain zaps", vertigo, "hot flashes" (for lack of a better term again), and irritable bowels. what i cant handle, especially because I'm taking serious classes is school right now, is the anxiety and lack of focus severely inhibiting me from doing my work. I have a bunch of homework due in the next 7 hours, i've gotten like 8 hours of sleep in the past two days, and i honestly cannot focus and get it done. anything i read in the textbook goes right over my head. my attention span is that of a chihuahua's.

    TOO MAKE MATTERS WORSE THE HOMEWORK THAT IS DUE TOMORROW IS A GROUP PROJECT

    MY MEMBERS GRADES RELY ON HOW WELL I DO

    if i drop out now i lose a lot of $$$....wasting my parents money and my own. its all my fault

    i'm usually very reliable. uggh....i dont know what to do. i cant handle the shame of coming to school and not having it done. im so sorry. i think im done.

    someone please helpp....thank you and god bless you.

    and sorry for the wall of text/intelligible writing

    sorry for ranting :'(

  • C2H4 or two molecules of CH2? (Intermolecular Forces Question)?

    I'm confused how intermolecular forces work. I know that they are weaker than intramolecular bonds...but how would two molecules of CH2 bond together compared to the intramolecular forces that make one molecule of C2H4?

    I guess what I'm trying to ask is why doesn't CH2 fuse with another CH2 thusly creating C2H4, or even C3H6 or another more complex molecule that can be derived from the same empirical formula.

    Thanks!

  • Difficult Balancing Equation, using redox?

    The equation is from the webqc chemical balancer page:

    K4Fe(CN)6 + KMnO4 + H2SO4 -> KHSO4 + Fe2(SO4)3 + MnSO4 + HNO3 + CO2 + H2O

    The balanced equation is 10 K4Fe(CN)6 + 122 KMnO4 + 299 H2SO4 -->

    162 KHSO4 + 5 Fe2(SO4)3 + 122 MnSO4 + 60 HNO3 + 60 CO2 + 188 H2O

    The last response by "Mr. E" mentions "for every K4Fe(CN)6 that's oxidized, that's +61" -where the hell does the +61 come from?

    Also my 1/2 reduction is Mn+7 + 5e- ->Mn+2. I know that the right amount of Mn comes out to be 122, but its not divisible by 5...

    How would I even go about setting up the oxidation reactions?

    Am I just going about this the wrong way? Is this equation even possible using the redox method?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Chemical Formulas for Manganese (IV) Oxide and Manganese (IV) Peroxide?

    This question was asked before on YA, but was not answered in entirety.

    From just googling around, the general consensus is that both compounds share the same chemical formula of MnO2. But they are not listed as alternative names of the same compound.

    Mn^-4 + O2^-2 -> Mn2(O2)4 which reduces to Mn(O2)2 or MnO4. Could MnO4 be a correct formula?

    Thanks for help!

  • What state of matter are atoms themselves?

    What state of matter would you consider atoms? I understand when they are packed together they form solids, and when they are farthest away they form gasses...but I'm talking about the actual atoms themselves. If I was to "touch" one would it react like a gas, liquid, or solid for instance. Or can the atoms phase in different states based upon their subatomic properties? Or would you just say atoms are not classifiable among the three (or four) states of matter?

    Thanks for any responses.

  • Is it legal to make a part time employee (and full time student) work this shift?

    Hello,

    As stated in the question title I am a part time employee at a retail store. There is a mandatory meeting that all employees need to attend.

    Unfortunately, this meeting occurs while I am at school. I told my boss that I would not be able to attend this meeting, and he said that he would fire me if I did not show up. There is no additional time for the meeting where I would be able to make-up.

    Is there a law that would protect me in this case, or does my employer have the right to terminate my job?

    Thanks for any help in advance
