Umm.... Me? Name: Jimbo Age: 17 And thats about it, folks...!
The walking shoe for my cast won't stay on?
Today I was given a new cast up to my knee, and a walking shoe (something like this: http://thermoskin.co.uk/images/products/large/ther... ). The walking shoe seems to be refusing to stay on, and I asked my doctor for an air cast, which I've had before (this: http://locarbcris.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/airc... ). However, the doctor was extremely rude to me about it, and refused to let me. I can't walk five steps without this piece of foam coming off, and I don't know whether its because the cast is REALLY thick (they put an extra layer on than the times before), or because of something else.
I've missed the first week of College, because there are too many people to walk around on crutches, and I was hoping with this I could go back, but I was *ordered* to use both crutches at all times (you don't need crutches if you use an air cast).
Can anybody help me out? Should I just ask to see another doctor who will actually listen to what I'm saying?
I can't go to College if I can't walk on this because of the way mine is set out...but I can't keep missing classes :/
Thanks in advance!
1 AnswerInjuries10 years agoHuge spiders in my house...?
I don't usually mind bugs, but in the last four days I've seen HUGE spiders in my room. They were both heading towards me. I killed the first one, but the one today got away before I could find something to kill it. It's literally making my skin crawl and itch now, even though I left my room as soon as I lost it. I am already sleep deprived, have nowhere else to sleep, and my leg is in a cast, so I can't get comfortable on the sofa. Is there any way I can attempt to lure it out? Bare in mind that it's after 10pm, and we don't keep insect killing aerosols etc, because I'm in Ireland, and we don't tend to need that. Can anyone tell me anything that will help? I'm freaking out now :/
2 AnswersOther - Home & Garden10 years agoGames like WoW with no subscription?
Hey, I'm new to games like WoW, and I was wondering if there are any games I can buy that I can play without having to subscribe.
As I said, I'm new to this, so if WoW can legally be played without a subscription, please let me know.
Any recommendations are great, especially since I'm a beginner and I usually suck at games, haha.
Thanks!
3 AnswersVideo & Online Games10 years agoI want to get fit after my operation, I failed before...?
So I had an operation on my foot and a bone graft from my hip on the 30th July. My Doctor won't let me off crutches and out of a cast for three months (twice the usual amount) because in the past, the bone has refused to rejoin.
At this moment in time, my foot is in a cast up to my knee, from there to my hip is numb yet burning, and I can barely move because my hip bone is sore and very bruised.
After I'd healed before (no bone graft), I tried to get fit, but my foot tired of the exercise easily, and before THIS operation, I couldn't walk from the car to the shopping centre without my foot getting stiff, and therefore sore.
I really need to lose weight, so is there any way I can sort of train my foot from the day it gets out of the cast to handle the exercise?
Also, any recommendations for someone who hasn't exercised in a good while and is EXTREMELY rusty (I tire easy, don't own a bike or exercising equip. I will probably rejoin the gym after I'm healed)?
Thanks in advance! =)
2 AnswersDiet & Fitness10 years agoHow can I get privacy in my own bedroom?!?
Hey, please be patient with me and I'm sorry if I rant! Please read it all before commenting! <3
I'm an 18 year old girl who lives in a 3 bedroom house with one brother, and my two parents. We have separate rooms, but since my room is the biggest bedroom, it's being used as storage space. I literally have one drawer for my clothes and possessions, which is just over a squared foot. To get into my room, I have to literally squeeze through the door, climb over boxes, jump onto my broken bed, and crawl passed the wedged closed wardrobe to get into about a metre of space I have, then my bed. This is the only space I have in my room...and this morning I sliced my leg trying to get out. It's not safe, especially if there's an emergency!
I digress, but I just want you to understand the situation of what I go through.
My brother, who is 20 (has a smaller room, but a double bed, and loads of walking space compared to my room) went through my drawer to find my camera without my permission. I have certain private things in this drawer that I don't want him hoking through! He said he only went into my room because my dad let him. I told my mum, saying I had private things in there, and she agreed it wasn't appropriate for him to be going through my things without MY permission...
And about an hour ago...he burst into my room, sticking his head around the door, while I was in the middle of changing my tampon >< (I just about had time to grab the blanket to cover myself). Last week, my dad burst in while I was getting changed for bed, I swear he saw my bare boob. I always knock when I go near their doors, and I WAIT for a response (he has his girlfriend over about 4 times a week).
I respect their privacy, yet I don't get any in return. Especially at this age, and because of my sex! Women need their privacy, and I'm not allowed a lock on my door, which is especially not a good idea since it takes so long to try to get out of my room anyway!
Can ANYONE suggest anything I can do? I'm too embarrassed to tell my brother to stay out, because he demands to know for what reasons, which I find humilating to discuss with my brother. I tried talking to my mum, she says she agrees with me, but won't take any action.
Any help at all is appreciated, and please don't be rude...you must realise how angered I am :(
I can't afford to move out, plus I'm getting surgery on Saturday which means I will be hopping around on one foot for three whole months :/ (I dread how I'm going to get into my room).
9 AnswersFamily10 years agoHow can I factory reset my Iphone 4 without deleting contacts?
I have had my Iphone 4 since October, and for the first time, it's refusing to connect to my wireless at home. The wireless is connecting to computers, so I know it's a problem with the phone.
I tried resetting the phone, and that didn't solve it. So now I want to try to factory reset.
However, I don't want to lose all my contacts, and I have over 100. I'm not sure if when a contact is added to the phone, it is saved to the sim or the phone. And I have no way of telling which would be which.
Any help is awesome.
Thanks in advance!

1 AnswerCell Phones & Plans10 years agoHelp! How to help save my fancy goldfish! :(?
I just came in at 1am, and checked on my fish.
Two of my fancy goldfish appear to have tiny air bubbles stuck to them. It's not "ich" or "velvet" or anything like that. I google imaged, and it doesn't look anything like these. It's literally air bubbles stuck to them. My tank is only a few weeks old, so it's in the middle of a cycle, and my fish have been lethargic at times, and really energetic at others...
But now, one of my fish is on his side, then suddenly trying to swim to the bottom, but can't stay there. I put the net close to him (not touching) to see if his jolting would make the air bubbles go away, but they're still there, and are on another fish too.
Because it's so late at night, I can't go buy anything to treat them, so is there anything I can do to try to help them live?! :(
I have turned the air pump off, because it's pulling my fish towards it, and I didn't want him to stress out even more so.
Please, any help it great. He's my favourite fish :( (I know that sounds sad, but other fish owners, I'm sure will understand that it's easy to get attached when you do all you can to look after them :P)
2 AnswersFish1 decade agoMy fish tank is cloudy...?
I bought a fish tank and installed a filter that came with the tank. I was told to give the tank a few days with the filter turned on before adding any fish. I did so, then added two Orandos yesterday, and one Orando and a Black Moor today.
The tank is cold water, and only has the four fish, gravel (which I cleaned before adding to the tank), the filter and two decorations that I only added today.
As soon as I added the first fish to the tank, I realised they could barely swim due to the filter pushing them away. I turned the filter down to as low as possible, and now they can swim better, but I'm worried the filter won't work as well as it should now.
Today, I noticed that the water is rather cloudy. Thinking it was just the lighting (tank is in the shade), I took pictures both yesterday and today with the flash turned on, and I can tell it is rather cloudy. I'll add links to before and after pictures.
Is this just the "New Tank Syndrome" I've been hearing about, or something else?
Will this harm my fish?
Have you any recommendations that would help? This isn't my first time keeping fish, but this is the first time I've had problems.

4 AnswersFish1 decade agoHow do I get the courage to move out?
I've decided it is time for me to move out. I'm 18, and due to family difficulties, I believe it's best for myself and my family if I leave the home. I've wanted to leave home for a few months now, and my dad flipped out, and told me I should leave twice already, and I've braved it enough to figure out how to go about getting support for somewhere to live.
The problem is...I really need the courage and the balls to go out tomorrow and visit the housing executive to get help, and I was wondering if anyone could help.
Anyone who has been in similar situations, please comment and tell me your secret! Haha :)
Thanks for those who take time to comment!

3 AnswersOther - Family & Relationships1 decade agoI'm in full-time education, and my dad is kicking me out...please read.?
I'm 18, but since I am still in full-time education. My family is kicking me out of the house, their reason being because they have it in their head that I'm the most disobediant person around, even though I do everything for them, cook, clean, taxi service, laundry service. I do the lot.
I''ve also been recently diagnosed with depression, mostly related to my relationship with my family. My counsellor already recommended that I should move out, given the situation, but I couldn't, no matter how much I wanted to, because I have no money or income.
I think the law in the UK is that I should be provided with help to find a place on my own, since I'm being forced out of my home. I don't have a job, so I have no income.
How do I go about getting help to find a place? I live in the UK, so please only help if you're from the UK, as laws are different in other countries :(
Any other info anyone can give would be helpful! Thanks!

4 AnswersOther - Skin & Body1 decade agoAny tips for a beginner going to the gym? [read more please]?
For my New Year's Resolution, I've decided that I am going to join a gym and stick to going to it as much as I can, however...
I'm 18 and female.
I have undergone surgery in my foot due to a break, so my mobility isn't that great. I was wondering what I could do in the gym to lose weight steadily and in the least painful way for my foot. Prolonged standing will leave me in pain for up to two days :/
Also, I'm a beginner, so I know extremely little about what kind of thing would be best to get me started.
Any tips would be realllllly appreciated :D
Thank you!

4 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoI just bought the iPhone 4, and literally cannot hear anything during a call?
Yes, I HAVE turned it up using the buttons on the side, but I cannot hear a single thing except a muffled voice. I was using it in a quiet room alone, and then used it while in a shopping centre. Both times, I heard basically nothing. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I don't want to use the speaker phone, because I want my calls to be private.
ANY help will be great, but as I said, I used the buttons on the side, and the problem is still unfixed.
Thanks

4 AnswersCell Phones & Plans1 decade agoWhat should I look for in a laptop?
I currently own a 2 year old Toshiba Satellite. And in all honesty...it's a bit on the s*** side.
About 9 months after I bought the laptop, the webcam stopped functioning unless the laptop was closed at a 15 degree angle. The webcam finally gave up after another few months.
At about a year and a half, the CD Drive stopped functioning, and two cracks appeared on either side of the keyboard. Parts of the plastic broke off at the fan. More plastic broke off at the USB ports and CD drive.
Recently, nearly every program on my laptop has crashed when I go to use it. Usually these are Firefox, Windows Live Messenger, Microsoft Word, and Skype. The taskbar also freezes.
I only use my laptop for basic student needs. I take ICT classes in college, so I bring my classwork home a lot to work on. Coursework is done on my laptop, also. The only other uses are for the wireless, MSN, Skype and iTunes.
I don't use my laptop for photoshopping or any other editing software. I only use it for the basics, but it appears to have given up. I also use my laptop to store photos. I'm looking for a laptop that can meet these needs, AND needs for going into University in a year. Since I'm a student, I also need a laptop for a good price and be able to carry it around without an extra haulage.
What should I look for in my laptop, since I can't walk up to one in a shop and see if it's any good compared to my current one?

9 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoI have very light coloured eyebrows, how can i darken them?
I don't suit darker make up because of my light eyebrows, apparently. I was born blonde, and my eyebrows have stayed nearer to that colour than my hair, which has darkened to a brown/ginger.
What can I do to try and darken them slightly, just so as I can wear darker make up?
Thanks!

2 AnswersOther - Beauty & Style1 decade agoWhere can I find the music tracks, without the lyrics?
My friend is trying to build up her voice to sing, and we thought it would help her if she had the music to some favourite songs, but without the singing...
So does anyone know where I could find pop/rock genre of these?

2 AnswersOther - Music1 decade agoHow can I make my legs look better?
My legs have quite big pores, and they seem to get blocked easily. Malso y legs get red and APPEAR prickly, when they aren't. Is there anything I could use, store bought, that can make my legs look better?
At the minute, I only use Nair hair removal cream, or a razor for removing the hair on my legs.
Any help on keeping great legs would be amazing.
Thanks!! <3

3 AnswersOther - Beauty & Style1 decade agoWhat qualifications do I need to increase my likelihood of a good grant in a USA University?
I'm a student in Northern Ireland, and I wish to go to a University/College in America. I haven't yet chosen a university, because I want to know more about the qualifications I will need.
I am pretty much broke, and I can afford approximately $10,000 dollars per year, however, I know this isn't enough money to get into College, especially as an out-of-state student.
I have checked out a few University websites in America, and I know I must take the SAT Test, and I have begun studying for it, however, they also refer to grade point averages, and other [subject] ACTs. Could someone explain to me what these are, and if there is any British equivalent?
I would also like to know what qualifications are the best that will help me to get a larger grant/scholarship because I lack in funds.
Thanks in advance!
