A good place to cater pie in DFW?!?
FI and I are getting married in November. We are not what you might call traditional - instead of wedding cake, we'd like to have a bunch of flavors of pie. (We are southern, aren't we?)
The wedding will be in Arlington, so I'd prefer to find a place in that area to cater pies, but if anyone knows a place in the entire DFW area, that would work, too!
Please, no flaming the pie idea.
2 AnswersWeddings1 decade ago2 Tat ideas?
First, I need some ideas for a foot tat. I want something to represent joy or dancing, but I haven't found or thought of anything I'd want permanently.
Secondly, I have been toying around with a tree of life design, but I'm not sure where to get this one (on my body.)
Any ideas/pics for either of these?
7 AnswersTattoos1 decade agoOutdoor Fall Wedding location in DFW?
My fiance and I would like to be married next November outside. We like a couple of gardens in the Botanic Gardens, and have thought about reserving space at River Legacy park.
Does anyone have other suggestions? If you've had a good/bad experience at either of these locations, please let me know!
Thanks!
3 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoFibromyalgia?
How many people know what this disease is (without looking it up first)?
I'm curious, because I've had to explain this many times in regards to my mother and father. I am also exhibiting symptoms.
Thanks for your time and honesty!
6 AnswersOther - Diseases1 decade agoTattoo artists in DFW, TX?
Hey, everyone. I'm looking for a great artist in the DFW area to do a tree of life tattoo on my back. I've been sketching out some ideas, and would like for them to be portrayed in a fantasy style.
Anyone know of a good nature/fantasy artist in the area?
3 AnswersTattoos1 decade agoLomi lomi?
Anyone ever recieved a lomi lomi massage? I'm interested in learning more about it (beyond the report I'm doing). My resources are a little limited, so I know the basics, but I'd like to hear from someone who uses the techniques, or who has received a massage.
If not lomi lomi, how about Thai? What's your experience been?
1 AnswerAlternative Medicine1 decade agoFibromyalgia?
For those of you who have or who know someone with fibromyalgia, I have a question.
Both of my parents have fibro, and I have been exhibiting some of the key symptoms for the past several months.
I do not have a regular family doc, but intend to soon (recent insurance through work). I called a local rheumatologist's office, and the automated recording said that the next available appointment is in October.
Would I fare just as well going to a family doctor to get this checked out, or should I be patient and stick with the recommendation that I should see a rheumatologist?
*I intend to do all that I can do to alleviate my symptoms until I get a doctor's opinion/diagnosis.*

Anyone in the DFW area familiar with the Pocket Sandwich Theatre?
I'm looking for a unique place to spend an anniversary.
If you've been there, please tell me about your experience!
2 AnswersDallas1 decade agoFirst anniversary?!?
*I'm sorry, I've asked this question already. I haven't gotten a reply, so I thought I'd change the category. I'd really like some ideas!*
My wonderful boyfriend and I have been together for a year this month. (Neither of us can remember our "official date," so we just picked one close!)
He's been in the state for a couple of years (he was in the Marines for 5), and has never had a relationship last this long.
I know it's "our" anniversary, but I want to make it really special for him, considering the circumstances.
We've done the bed and breakfast thing, so that's out for now.
Any suggestions?
I'd like to hear gift ideas, too!
1 AnswerOther - Family & Relationships1 decade agoDeath penalty?
I just read an article concerning Texas and the death penalty. I'm Texan, and I believe that death is a very harsh consequence for any crime. I believe in self defense, obviously, and I understand the seeming necessity of war. I just don't understand the main reasons behind the death penalty. Is it to keep our prisons from overpopulation? Most people on death row stay for 10 years before execution ... Is it the "eye for an eye" mentality? Most would consider chopping off a theif's hands barbaric. Is it a religiously influenced law? How does it differ from state to state?
I'm really interested to hear where you're from, and what your opinion is!
9 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoShould I just shave my head? (Guys and gals!)?
Okay, so, in all seriousness, I don't think I'd go super short again right now (shortest my hair has been was less than an inch - eek!)
However, I do need a new look. Saturday is my birthday bash (I turned 22 Monday), and I'd like a new style, since I've been letting my hair grow out a bit. It's a little past my shoulders at the bottom layer (the several layers I have are losing shape.) I have a strong heart/square jaw, and pale skin with pink undertones. I am going to school to be a massage therapist, so it needs to be out of my eyes in one way or another, and I work in a corporate office.
So, what's your favorite hairstyle of all time? Color, cut, style - I'm pretty open minded!
(Pics would rock.)
8 AnswersHair1 decade agocardio and muscle toning?
I'd like some opinions on cardio and muscle toning.
I am working full time, and going to school part time to become a licensed massage therapist. I need to get back into better shape to perform well in massage, and, of course, to stay healthy.
A friend at work has a bowflex that's 4-5 years old, and she said she's only asking 200-300 dollars for it.
I am trying to work my way back into Ashtanga yoga (which can be quite aerobic.) If I get the bowflex, I'd like to alternate between yoga and the bowflex.
I've read that the bowflex isn't great for building muscle mass, and I'm not looking for big muscles, by any means. I'm looking for a low impact way to increase my strength, endurance, and cardio health. Is this a good deal?
Do you think that this would be a good workout schedule for a busy girl, who likes a little variety? Anything I'm missing?
Sidenote: I'm also trying to be more conscious of my eating habits, as well.
2 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoNational Certification for Myotherapy?
I am currently in school to become an LMT. I'm so excited, and I feel very natural in this environment.
Who has gone on to get their National Certification? Which branches of interest is this most practical for?
I believe in educating myself as much as possible (beyond the required hours every couple of years), and I'm taking this very seriously.
I'm unsure of the branch I want to go into, but would ultimately like to get a bachelor's in some type of health science, and develop my own practice. My hope is that my massage therapy schedule will allow me more time to pursue a bachelor's.
Any advice or personal experiences that's relevant to the field?
2 AnswersAlternative Medicine1 decade agoAdult birthday party ideas?
Hi everyone,
I need some ideas for an adult (22 years old) birthday party. I need locations in the DFW area ... I would like to invite a larger group of people, so having it in our apartment might not be the best idea. I don't think that everyone will want to dress up in costume, either. I would like to be respectful of everyone's budgets, but any ideas would be helpful!
(I'm fairly eclectic, so "interests" vary.)
Thanks!

Do other countries truly view Americans as stupid? If so, what is the main reason? We generally speak fewer languages, don't care for our elders, etc... what is our greatest flaw as a country?
11 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoThird tattoo?!?
What is the best resource (other than the tat artists) for tattoo ideas? I would like to get a third tattoo, and have a general idea of a modern claddagh. I would like for this to stay as original as possible.
Any tattoo artists or experts out there who can tell me if this is a fairly common design for tats?
(I've asked this question in the tat forum, and only received one answer. Please, no "tattoos are disgusting" replies.)
Thanks!
9 AnswersOther - Beauty & Style1 decade agoPet reptile comparisons?
Hi everyone,
I searched through the answered questions, but didn't find what I was looking for, so forgive me if you've answered this somewhere else.
I'm looking for a relatively low maintenance pet. I love reptiles (in addition to other creatures, of course!), and I am considering getting one as a pet. I used to have an iguana when I was young, but never had to take care of the cost. I am partial to them, I think, but the research I've done indicates that the initial cost is quite high (for supplies and electricity alone). I am not as worried about the initial cost of the animal, but regular upkeep. I don't want an animal I can't take care of completely (especially since iggies are the most dumped.)
Does anyone have suggestions? I'm very open to other animals, and would appreciate any feedback you have. I have every intention of being a responsible pet owner, and this will be my first pet out on my own. Thanks!
10 AnswersReptiles1 decade agoTattoo artists: typical tattoo designs?
Is the claddagh a typical tattoo design? I'm considering sketching a rendition of the claddagh that's postmodern with a 40's feel. (Any suggestions for size, style, location on body?)
2 AnswersTattoos1 decade agoYour opinions on massage therapy?
I will be attending massage therapy school this month. This is for the basic program (required courses for TX MT). What are some of the options I have with the basic education? What are the best in your opinion? Should I go on to take the advanced curriculum, or stick with the "continued education" courses every couple of years (required)? I am aware of the general options (cruise ships, physical therapy, spa/salon, etc.), I'm just unsure of the level of certified education I need for each of them. Would you recommend a bachelor's in a related degree?
Also, if this is your field, how was the certification test?
