I am currently setting up a world and characters to start a new fantasy story. I have come to the stage where I need to start thinking about characters and so starting with the protagonist is a good starting point.

At this stage, I have no clear main plot. I just have a loose idea of where I see the story going. I just want opinions and thoughts on my idea for a protagonist and here it is (there may be a few cliches, I will probably get rid of these but for now they are helping me form a character):

He is a character of supreme sacrifice with a horrifying and tortuous past. Parents were killed, fell in love with a friend, they fall in love with another friend of theirs, they in turn get killed during the whole story and this all takes place over a few decades and once the threat is over, the story ends with him holding a knife to his neck ready to commit suicide as he has nothing left to live for.

I know this is very rough, well more than very rough. It's barely a start. I just thought of it about an hour ago. What I am trying to get across is, would you like to read about a character whose whole life is full of pain and no good things in his life but he carries on as the world needs him/her?

I am more than willing to take ANY ideas. As I have said, this is very rough. I just like the idea of a character who give everything to people when he himself has nothing. If you have played Assassin's Creed, think of Ezio but no partner and love. Just years of sacrifice and war. Also, would that character just be too un believable as in you could not invest in his character?

I am 18 and have always wanted to drink coffee or just a hot drink. I am not a fan of tea and I have tried coffee in the past and I am not a fan of the taste. However, I am still drawn to getting into it. Just like beer, the first few taste horrible but you get used to it and become alright and that is my thinking. I jut want to know where do I start. Do I go for instant coffee or get a proper machine for the proper taste. Are there things that I can put in to make the taste less bad like you can put honey in tea etc.

I completed ME3 (and yes, I am one of those that hate the possible endings) and I decided to make a new shepherd. Play as fem shep and try a class I haven't tried out before. The thought then came into my mind after an hour of my new game that what if I want to go back to my old game. I headed into the main menu, opened up the "load" screen and I am missing all of my 1st Shepherd saves.

My question is where can I get them back?

Many times in the past I have posted questions about girls and tips etc. Recently, I went to this this party and met this girl. We talked most of the night (from 6 until 11 at night with maybe an hour without talking) and we then procede to talk after until 1 that night and then again for the next few. The day after, I asked if she wanted to go to the movies. We went, the monday gone, and we got into the screen. Sat down. But then I was too scared to try and hold hands or anything. I sort of leaned close to her thinking that she might do the same. She did a little, I think. So, once it ended, we walked outside (no holding hands) and sat down chatting until one of us got picked up. Now, she is at the Leeds festival and then we can't meet up until the first week of September because I am going to New York and she is working. I just need advice on how to get her interested or me to pluck up the courage to break the touch barrier. Are there any tips? What should I do for a second date?

To put this in context: I am 17 and so can't drive or go out clubbing with her. That was also my first date so I was full of nerves!

Any tips on how to break the touch barrier, where to go next and also the procedure of dating. When does a 'date' no longer be one and turn into a girlfriend?

So, I am a 17 year old boy (18 at the start of November) and have never had a real relationship. i recently, back in Novemeber got together with an American friend of mine and I'm birtish. I believe we had soemthing special even though we have never been in physical contact. We were together 5 motnhs and she called it off. She was my first girlfriend. Ever since then I have been trying to get over her and I believe I am o nthe cusp of doing so but i believe to fully be over her is to be with another girl. However, considering my past track record, that is unlikely. I recently started liking a friend of mine (again) and believe she might have liked me until saturday night when she told me she liekd this one guy at the party we were at and only 2 hours prior, i had given her her "best birthday present ever". However, when she told me I wasn't compeltely broken. I had been talkign to this girl and we were getting along. She left to go home and asked my friend if she was single...and she wasn't. ever since I have been just been angry with myself and just on a downer. I have never had a real girlfriend and all my friends are getting together with other people and I'm liek one of the last people to do so.

Guys and girls, how do I not be single? How can I find that special someone?

I go to download the launcher when I sign in to it. It says I have an outdated launcher. So I hit the lin kto download the new one, I do that and go back into minecraft. I sign in and it still says it's outdated and I can only play offline. I need some help. I've bought the beta and haven't been able to update or go online...at all! I've had it since late August last year. What should I do?

Ok, so I'm talkign to my girlfriend and she's talkign about some stuff she does and I know other things she does too and I just feel so unactive and stupid. I have no talents or bobbies whatsoever. I play video games as a hobby but it's hardly impressive. Is there anythign I can pick up and any cool skills that you like doing? I don't want suggestions to sports.I've tried many and fail at all that I have tried.

Any tips on basically anythign will be helpful.

I've recently purchased Oblivion and I am only level 2. I want to get good pieces of armour and weapons because all I have is a full steel armour (without shield, can't find a steel shield anywhere) and steel weapons. I want to know where i can get better armour without too much hassle. I want to be a good character and do not wish to steal as I might get thrown out of the fighters guild. So, I just need to know locations of good items. I'm also doing this because I am one away from becomming a gladiator in the arena and cannot defeat this opponent who has an enchanted warhammer.

So, to summarise: I am lookign for armour and weapons of good or better quality with minimum effort required.

I've recently got oblivion as I finally got bored of all the call of duties etc on my xbox. So, I purchased oblivion and I have never been that great in RPG's of this scale before an so find it hard to get money and know how to level up. I play as a nord and my starsign is battlemage I think. I want to be a really good character as I have joined the fighters guild and do not wished to be kicked out too many times.

My questions are:

How do you make good money? (besides the arena)

What's a good way to get security and mercantile skills up?

How to build up strength and magic?

Basically, give me your best beginners tips and tips for when I get a bit better later on. Please don't give menthe tip"play the game" as my friends keep telling me this but it does not help.

I recently became king and want to be a good one and not be a tyrant...however I need to raise 6,500,000 gold if i remeber correctly. Is there an easy way to do that? What are the plus sides to beign a good king after completing the story and bad points? Same for being a tyrant. ANy tips would be helpful! One mroe question, what will happen if I don't raise the money and I am a good king?

So, here's the thing:

I have a friend in America (I live in the UK) and we really are the best of friends and we've started flirting back and forth. She's lately told me that if I lived near her, she would cosntantly be trying to date me. We have also said we love each other. She said that I am the only one she can say that to. Plus, she hasn'y been seeing anyone in ages. But, I've started havign feeligns (nto strong ones) for a couple girls who live here. We talk, we get on and I think they could like me back. So, here's my question: Do I go after a long distance relationship or something closer to hand. I really like this girl in America but I want soemthign physical as well. Is it wrong for me to feel like this? Am i a bad person for doing so?

Another question as well. I am 17 and have never had a relationship or fling and I feel like I am missing out. Is this normal? I just get so bogged down on occasions when I see friends who start up relationships with people

I am looking for science fiction science that is strongly based or loosely based on proper science. I might be starting to write a novel and would like some cool facts. For exmple, I'd like information on FTL

I've recently completed all my games and have lost most of my interest in them. The last dew says I have been looking around for some cheap games that are good and will take a while to complete. I've been looking at red faction guerilla and have gotten mixed reviews. I would like a 3rd person (rpg style) shooter. Any tips and help is gladly welcome :)
