Defend yourself from attacking dogs?
I take an occasional walk through areas of my neighborhood (these are blocks of a residential homes in a desert area of Arizona) where threatening dogs are just barely beyond a fence..I'm talking "threatening" in a very real sense. What do I do? .32 automatic? Pepper spray? Walking stick? Or you clever guys that tell me to walk somewhere else?
4 AnswersDogs9 years agoAnyone know what's wrong with YouTube tonight (10/25/12)?
Anytime I try to download anything from YouTube tonight, all I get is page after page of computer symbols. It appears to be a total breakdown of some sort? I'm wondering if anyone has seen anything like this before?
5 AnswersYouTube9 years agoWhat is "method" acting? How does it differ from other acting techniques?
I see this term a lot. Marlon Brando supposedly invented it. But I have yet to read a description that actually tells me what method actors DO to learn their parts.
7 AnswersTheater & Acting1 decade agoI saw a spider next to my outdoor faucet. The body was 1.5-2", bold yellow and black stripes, long black legs?
Any idea what this thing was and whether it was dangerous? Useful details: I lived near a forest in NW Oregon at the time; it was spring; and it had relatives not far away. This scared the s___ right out of me. I have seen black widows, this was nothing like one of those.

A new personal lubricant product advertises that it doesn't create a burning feeling on touching sensitive areas, and I'm trying to find it.
2 AnswersMen's Health1 decade agoHelp me find and understand this style of film making; online/book/article sources all ok.?
Ok you film buffs...point me to a definitive source or 2, as in textbook, long article, etc. that goes over styles of film of the past 50 years or so. I need help finding some older works. As a child growing up in the 50s and 60s, we had a local TV station in Portland OR (KPTV, if it matters) that would play some pretty off the wall stuff to keep on the air. They pulled in a number of French movies that I felt were very strange at the time but have continued to intrigue me since then....features: all B & W; young, unknown actors; alot of driving around the countryside, alot of smoking; obscure, love-triangle type themes portrayed in an unconventional manner with limited dialog, lots of posing, knowing looks between actors, unresolved side stories, little sensuality, very sparse sound tracks, photo work that was noirish but without violence. The endings often were people or couples splitting up. They have more meaning to me now than they did then and I'd like to find a few!
1 AnswerMovies1 decade agoAre chemicals added to beer? Chemicals designed to affect appearance or performance or flavor?
I heard a story some years ago that a major brewer in the US was adding a chemical to its beer (I believe it was cobalt) to improve the "head" the beer had when it was poured and give it more head. Seems that in large enough qualtities it had a toxic qaulity. The brewer underestimated how much some boys drink. My question is, what else is in their now to alter flavor or appearance?
3 AnswersBeer, Wine & Spirits1 decade agoTop 40 in 1969?
I'm looking for a top 40-type chart for popular music singles (or a link that would take me to it) for any of the weeks of September, 1969. Top 75 or even 100 would also be good. It's a history project. Anyone?
2 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoHow can I compare performance of computers with duo-core chips vs. the older models w/ chips like the Pentium?
When chips were climbing the performance curve, you could compare them by looking at operating speeds, e.g the Athlon started out at a 1 Gig speed, Pentium got up to 2.8 Gigahertz, etc. Then duo-core chips came out with ratings I didn't understand. How do I compare the performance of various computers having the duo-core chips such as the T-58, 59, 60 and 61? And how do I compare them to the older chips? Is there a yardstick of some sort for performance comparisons? If you can answer, or there is a resource you can send me, to it would be greatly appreciated.
